A/N:I'm used to writing in first person, so if I/me/us/we is where he/she/him/her/them/they should be, please let me know.

The surprising amount of support I've gotten for this has inspired me to write, so this is dedicated to all of y'all!

This will be by far the sweetest Edward I've ever written. He may come off too sweet to some, but I love it that way.

One more thing, I took out the Forks location. Where they live isn't going to be stated. Sorry if this is upsetting but I'm sure there isn't fast food restaurants there so I took it out.

Please enjoy,

Phee

Chapter Song: Closer by Kings of Leon

A smile cracked Edward's face after he read her reply for the fourth time.

"I'm glad," was all he could think to say.

She smiled the smallest, sweetest smile.

"Would you, uh...would you like a ride?" He asked, stomach hurting from how nervous he was.

Edward was not the guy that had trouble with girls. Honestly, the only trouble he had was trying to avoid them. But with Bella it was different and not just because of the communication barrier.

She was different. Special. And not just because she was beautiful—though that was a large factor. She mostly kept to herself, but she'd reach out to people in small ways. Like helping people pick up their dropped books while everyone else walked by, or selling baked goods for charities. Edward even saw her bringing things to homeless people.

He was leaving the local Taco Bell with a five layer burrito in hand one day when he saw her coming out the McDonalds across the street with two hefty bags in her arms. He'd followed her for a block until she came to three male hobos. One man stood up, advancing. Edward's steps quickened as he worried about her safety, then froze when he saw her smile for the first time. The sight alone had him forgetting what the problem was. Then she handed the man the bags.

Edward read the words, "Thank you." off the man's lips.

Bella nodded then went on her merry way.

Edward stood there, half eaten lunch forgotten as he marveled at how truly amazing this girl was.

Now she was standing before him, feeling like he was a overinflated ballon and loving every minute of it.

She looked at him for a long time, almost as if she couldn't believe what was happening, until she nodded quickly and pushed a loose hair behind her ear.

Edward smiled again, wanting to jump and snap his heals together or something just a corny. "Great! Here." He ran around the car to open the door for her.

She smiled while shaking her head, making the hand motion of Thank you. She knew sign language. He had no idea why this fact was a surprise to him. Though he'd never seen her do it until this point. Teachers didn't bother calling her name for answers in class and that was a shame because he'd snuck a peek at her work, seeing that she was a genius.

"You're very welcome." Edward said before carefully closing the door after she slid in.

When he turned to walk to the driver's side, Jess caught his attention. The strawberry blonde was glaring atomic bombs right in his direction. He'd taken her to homecoming two weeks ago, because they were friends. He figured it would be harmless. Friends went to dances all the time, right? No biggie. Wrong. It was a huge biggie to Jess. She's assumed they were going steady after eating at a nice restaurant with a group of friends that were paired into couples for the dance as well. They had shared a few slow dances, but they had danced with other people too. She was livid when Edward had politely informed her they were just friends, nothing more.

Now she was looking from him to Bella then back to him, the promise of vengeance in her eyes. Edward tried to make himself care, he really did, but couldn't. Not with Bella in his passenger seat.

When he got behind the wheel, Bella showed him another note, What was that about?

Shit. He'd hope that she wouldn't have noticed. He scratched his head. "Um...it's a kind of awkward situation."

She waited with a patient expression.

He couldn't resistant her kind, wide eyes and told her everything. He felt like a total douche by the end.

She smiled reassuring at him, It's not your fault. He read as she wrote in her notebook now that the back of the small note had no more room. You asked her to the dance out of the kindness of your heart. You let her down easy and that's all that counts.

Edward smiled despite his rattling nerves. "Thanks, but I'm worried about what she'll do to you."

Bella shook her head, a tiny purse forming over her lips as her pen furiously scribbled on the page, Don't worry. I'm a big girl.

Edward's smile broadened. "I know you are, but I can't help myself."

She looked out the window for a second before writing something else. Edward absently wondered if this made her hand hurt and silently vowed to learn how to understand sign language because this thought upset him. Thank you, you're very nice. She paused, looking uncertain before the pen started moving again. Nicer than I thought you'd be.

"Well, thanks, you sure know how to sweet talk a guy." He joked, feeling ashamed that she felt that way.

She blushed so much he wanted to check her for a fever. He went to say something but the thought of touching her distracted him too much.

She studied her paper as she wrote her words with an attentive hand as an artist would with their beloved painting. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. He went to say she didn't but stopped when he saw she wasn't done writing. It's just that you hang out with the...in crowd.

"The 'in crowd' as in the mean kids?"

Her eyes flickered to him before she looked away and nodded.

"They weren't always like that?"

That had her looking at him fully then, curious and shocked all at once.

"It's true." Edward answered her unasked question. "Most of us have been together since grade school. I shared snacks and actually peed my pants in front of them."

She nodded, fighting back a smile. I'm sorry for misjudging you. I didn't understand.

"It's okay."

She shook her head. No, it's not. That wasn't fair of me.

He shrugged. "I forgive you. We don't know each other, but I'd like to change that."

She ducked her head, but not before he could see red flare from her neck up to her forehead. Me to

A goofy smile stretched his cheeks as Edward brought the engine to life. "Where to?"

She shrugged. Where ever you'd like.

He thought of suggesting a movie, but decided against it. Even though being in the dark with her seemed like a really good idea, they wouldn't be able to get to know each other and getting to know Bella more was something he'd been wanting since he first saw her.

"Do you golf?"

She looked at him with an odd expression, something close to sly. A little.

"Would you like to go to the mini-golf course?"

Now?

"Sure. Unless you have to be home."

She held her finger up, signaling for him to hold on as she got her phone out. Edward openly watched as she texted her Uncle Charlie, Can I go putt-putt with a friend?

Charlie's response was instant. What kind of friend? Edward couldn't hear his voice, but could just imagine how unhappy and suspicious it must've sounded.

She sighed a little, the first sound he'd ever heard her make. It was damn near euphoric to hear. A guy friend. His name is Edward Cullen. Can I go?

Bells chimed when the reply came. So this is a date?

The blush rose past her hair line. I'm not sure.

"It is." Edward said, causing Bella to jump a little and blink up at him. "At least that was what I was hoping for it to be.."

She mouthed, Me too. causing more giddiness to take hold of Edward's chest.

The now annoying text alert ruined the moment. I'd like to meet this boy.

Bella rolled her eyes. You know him, he's Dr. Cullen's son.

I'd still like to meet him all the same. was Charlie's final word.

She looked a nervous question up at Edward. He could see that she thought he'd say no. "Tell him we're on our way."
