A/N: Hello, my readers. I know, it's been an unforgivably long time since the last update. I'm aware you guys have been waiting for the next installment of Project Micca, but there have been a lot of issues in my life that I've had to deal with, one being the death of my grandmother, graduation another, and college prep the third. It's been slow going, but here it is, finally. Chapter 4 of Project Micca. Enjoy.

Disclaimer: I do not own Resident Evil or its wonderful characters.

Chapter 4

When they made it to the helicopter, the last thing the group expected was for Umbrella to be waiting for them. The group had been separated—Alice and Micca, and then the rest. Jill and the others watched as they bound Micca—who struggled every bit of the way—and then relieved Alice of her weapons as the monstrous Nemesis came into view.

Major Cain watched his projects with a sick pridefulness that made Micca feel dirty. She wanted to retch. Cain revealed to them that Alice had bonded with the T-Virus on a cellular level, adapting it and changing it. Micca had been infected with a mix of the T-Virus, which had been infused with the DNA of Alice and a mix of the DNA of wolves and German Shepards, as well as the G-Virus, which they had named the X-Virus. Micca had been made to be Alice's weapon, while Alice had been made to be Umbrella's.

Alice's DNA had allowed the viruses to bond with Micca in a similar way, but it had also bonded the two women in ways not even Umbrella knew. Micca would likely be extremely protective of Alice, and vice versa. This was why they had bound the former Colonel. Also using this knowledge, Cain promised harm to Micca if Alice refused to fight Nemesis in single unarmed combat. Enraged, but unable to get around the inevitable, Alice engaged the creature.

As the fight wore on, four umbrella soldiers had to hold Micca to keep her from interfering. Cain seemed rather pleased at this development, and when Alice was knocked down and pinned, gave the authorization to release her. Promptly, Micca tore herself free of the zip-tie bindings that held her wrists and shot forward with a snarl, knocking Nemesis away from Alice. The two rolled a short distance before Micca separated from him and took up a defensive position in front of Alice.

As if it had been choreographed, the two experiments switched positions, taking up strategic ones meant to take Nemesis down as a team. They took turns fighting him until Alice had backed him into a jagged piece of metal until it protruded from his front. Then the blonde stopped as her memories flooded to her and she began to cry, "Oh, Matt…I'm so sorry."

Until this point, Cain had been rather pleased with the outcome, but now he was not. Not that either woman cared for his approval. Micca rounded on him as he neared. M.K. watched in horror as Micca bared lengthened and sharpened canines at him and snarled very much like a dog. The G-Virus had allowed the canine DNA to alter her very genetic and chemical make-up, thus her animal-likeness. Her very nature had been altered, though the exact degree of change was still to be seen, she was no longer entirely human and would likely never be again. Between the two projects, Micca was the one to have been most altered by the viruses in her system.

To his credit, Cain halted in his approach at Micca's hostile display, taking note of her changed eye color and demeanor. However, his caution didn't stop him from ordering Alice to finish the creature. Alice turned, angry, and defied him. Cain plead with her, asking if she knew how important they were to him, telling him that they were evolution. The women disagreed. They were freaks. Inhuman.

He sighed and expressed his disappointment and then turned to board the chopper, not noticing that one of his prisoners was now missing. Nemesis removed himself from the metal spear and walked around the women. However, when Cain ordered him to kill them, he instead killed the guards around the women. Micca and Alice immediately revolted and together they fought off the small army surrounding the chopper.

But for all of their altered DNA neither Micca nor Alice survived the crash just outside Raccoon City…

Dr. Isaacs traversed the crash site. His projects had not survived it, most likely because they had saved the others of their merry band of survivors. However, this was only a minor setback in his research. He could revive them, new and improved, with little to no trouble at all.

The good doctor crouched down beside the badly burned and broken body of Alice as his peers took away the body of Project Micca. He caressed the blonde's face as he looked into her lifeless eyes and then she too was taken away to be shipped to the Detroit facility.

Micca ignored her reflection in the glass walls as she moved through the halls of the facility to the lab labeled Project Alice. She had endured several long and grueling months here, undergoing studies and tests conducted by Dr. Isaacs. She had endured it only to make sure of Alice's escape, secretly conspiring with Jill and Carlos whom she had contacted months prior.

She had been the first to awaken in the tank. It had taken her only moments to remember what had happened, and even less to gather together a plan. She was playing the spy here, so to speak. She acted as if she had no memory of Raccoon City or her life prior, and acted as their pet. Solely for the purpose to make sure that Alice got out.

Among her memories, she had also realized the 'improvements' to her already severely changed genetic make-up. Micca was faster and strong, both mentally and physically. Her bond with Alice had strengthened to a degree that she could sense exactly where the woman was—to a certain distance—and if she was harmed or in danger of harm. Micca was constantly aware of Alice's well being. She had known even well before the scientists that Alice was ready to awaken. Micca was also more…feline…in her movement. Sensual even. Such grace allowed for better agility and silence during movement.

As soon as she entered the lab, Alice's eyes snapped open. Isaacs gave the order to drain the tank and Micca clicked a button located on the inside of her leather biker's jacket pocket that would notify Jill and Carlos of Alice's revival.

Isaacs acknowledged Micca's presence with a nod and she gave him her trademark smoldering smirk as she stepped further into the lab, her leather pants brushing alluringly with the movement. The tank opened and Micca growled lowly in warning to Isaacs when he stepped towards the wet blonde. He looked at her and gave a terse smile as he backed away. He merely suspected that she was only reacting in the manner she had been designed to—little did he know that it was because she didn't want him anywhere near her friend. Micca let him believe what he wanted. The less he suspected the truth, the greater chances of escape success.

Micca stepped up and Isaacs watched in intrigue as the dark haired woman kneeled beside the tank and caressed a wet lock of hair away from Alice's face. Alice seemed to recognize Micca as a friend and accepted her help out of the opened tank. Micca took a lab coat from Isaacs and wrapped it around her charge before guiding the blonde to the wall. Alice looked at her, and their eyes met as Isaacs began issuing orders. Micca saw the moment that Alice remembered everything.

The soldier gave her an imperceptible nod and Alice struck first. Within moments everyone in the room with the exception of Isaacs was dead and the two women were making their way through the building to the exit.

"So. How long has it been?" Alice asked, pulling her borrowed lab coat tighter around her naked form and crossing her arms over the front to keep it closed.

"Oh, about nine months, maybe ten. I woke up about six months ago. I've been playing the puppet ever since, waiting for you," Micca answered with a devious smirk.

Alice raised an eyebrow at her, "You seem to have loosened up since Raccoon City."

It was meant as an observation, not a question, but Micca gave an explanation anyway, telling her it was something to do with the "improvements" that Isaacs had made to her person, and she mentioned that she had spent her time at the facility wisely by researching what she could about herself and Alice and the viruses administered to them; which Alice appreciated greatly.

"Jesus…" Alice breathed in response as she absorbed everything she was told, "So you knew when I was going to wake up?"

"In a way. I could feel how strong you were, and educated a guess to when," Micca clarified, "It's a good thing I was right, because Carlos and Jill are on their way here to pick us up."

"Jill and Carlos? They're alive?" Alice asked with relief.

"Yes. So is M.K." the ex-soldier confirmed, "I've been in contact since I woke up, keeping them informed of Umbrella's whereabouts so they could stay clear."

The two cleared a corner into another corridor, "Why would they need to steer clear?" the blonde prompted.

"You've been out of commission for a while. Umbrella has them pegged for apprehension, and the police aren't helping matters. We'll fill you in more once we've cleared the facility," the brunette grunted as she incapacitated an unsuspecting security guard and relieved him of his handgun, checking that the clip was full before continuing on.

Alice said nothing more, opting instead to watch the ex-colonel. The blonde found it difficult to keep her eyes above waist level.

When finally the two of them stepped out of the building and onto the porch area, they stopped dead in their steps, little red dots covered their body as sniper lasers were trained on them.

"Whoa…" Micca hummed and looked about them, "This might complicate things a bit," she said casually.

Alice looked at her sarcastically and the brunette just shrugged noncommittally.

As the man who looked to be in charge began to step forward, a black SUV drove up and came to a stop in front of the steps. The two women trained their gazes on it as three familiar faces emerged from within it. Alice huffed inconspicuously in amusement as the men cleared a way for Carlos, dressed as an Umbrella corporate, to approach. Jill, dressed similarly, stepped passed him as the Latino flashed some credentials and took Alice by the forearm to lead her to the car. Micca followed silently and climbed into the vehicle, followed soon after by the other four and then Jill drove them to the gate. After a brief stop at the gate they were let through and after they were clear of the facility everyone gave a sigh of relief.

Mary Kay leaned over and hugged her aunt tightly, "I missed you, Aunt Micca."

"I missed you, too, pup," Micca returned, smoothing the girl's red hair and kissing the top of her head. Alice smiled at the scene before turning her head to look out the window at the passing scenery, suddenly very tired.

Micca looked up at her friend as Mary Kay snuggled into her side for a nap. They had a long drive ahead of them, "Alice," she said softly, almost inaudible even in the silence of the drive. The blonde looked at her and Micca smiled sagely, "It'll be a long drive. You should get some sleep."

Alice nodded and settled in to do just that. Micca watched the blonde for a while before letting her head fall back against the head rest until she too fell into slumber with the soft conversation of Jill and Carlos in the front seat.
