"Ah that was so good! Thanks again for lunch, although I would've enjoyed it more if I had paid for it myself…" Ichigo said as he pouted. I ruffle his hair some and he turns a crimson color.
"Yeah, well that's too bad because I already paid. So, where is this music festival?"
"It's downtown. We can take the train."
"Alright, cool. Then we should probably get going before it gets really crowded." Ichigo nods his head and gets up from his seat on the bench. We had decided to sit in the park for a little while so the food we ate would digest some. It also gave us some time to re-think our plans if we wanted to do anything else. Luckily, our plans stayed the same.
We walked to the train station, only stopping when Ichigo would look up and point out something I hadn't noticed or when he was laughing too hard to walk. The kid's smile was contagious because I soon found myself smiling right along with him. I didn't even notice that he'd somehow linked his arm with mine.
"When did you link arms with me?" I ask him with a smirk plastered on my face. I guess the question startled him because he jumped. He began to play with the end of his shirt and he peaked through his bangs to look up at me. The kid seriously didn't know how cute he was. He then shrugs his shoulders.
"I-I'm not really sure, but if I had to guess I'd have to say it was when we walked pass the bakery shop. I was explaining to you the different kinds of pastries. I think that may have been when I hooked arms with you. If you don't want to walk arm and arm I'd understand…" he tells me.
"I don't mind at all. Actually, I think it's kinda cute that you're blushin' all because of lil' ole me." My comment increases his blush even more.
"Jerk…" he mumbles. I chuckle as we walk through the entrance of the train station. I scan the area for the booth to buy the tickets. Ichigo finds it first and runs towards it. I jog after him as he speaks with the blonde haired young man at the counter.
"What's the deal runnin' off like that?" I question. He smiles triumphantly at me as he holds up the tickets. I was about to scold him about paying for those, but he speaks before I can.
"I already paid for them, so there's no sense in telling me not to."
"Fine, but no more paying for things while you're out with me. Got it?"
"Fine, Fine!"
"Boyfriend, Ichigo?" I hear the blonde from the booth ask. When I look over at him, he has a teasing smile on his face. I watch as Ichigo waves a hand him in front of his face.
"No, it's not like that. But we are on a date…" He tells the blonde. The blonde nods and looks me over.
"He's cute, Ichigo. Where'd you find him?"
"I'll tell you about it later, Izuru! We have to catch the train." Izuru chuckles and waves us a goodbye.
"Fine, but the next time the gang hangs out you're spilling about everything that happened today!" Ichigo smiles and puts his wallet in his back pocket. We walk towards our station as I make light conversation.
"So, I take you know that guy?"
"Yeah, we went to high school together. He's still in college because he had to take a break, but he works here when he's not at school. Even though I went to college for a year, I already knew what I wanted to do, so when the opportunity was presented, I took it. Izuru's still trying to find a major though. We still hang from time to time with a common group of friends."
"His life sounds…busy." I say, trying to find the right words. Just as Ichigo opens his mouth to answer, some guy roughly bumps into him.
"Hey! Watch where you're going, asshole!" Ichigo yells. The guy keeps walking and I swore I heard him snickering. I then hear Ichigo patting himself down. "H-Hey Grimmjow, I think that guy stole my wallet!" The man then bolts off. I run after him.
"Stay here! I'll get him!" I say as I follow after him. The punk runs through the crowds of people, making zig-zags so I'd lose track of him. I feel bad for the little shit, he just doesn't know I'm an ex-con and when I catch him there's going to be hell to pay. I watch as the kid jumps over a trash can and pushes it to tip it over. I go around, only stumbling slightly. I regain my form and run faster because he was beginning to piss me off. He made a quick left turn and I did the same. However, it turned out that spot was a dead end. Even though his hood was covering his face, I knew he was panicking. I slowly walk closer to the kid. When his back was against the wall I extended my hand.
"Give me back the wallet you took from the guy I was with." I mutter lowly. I could see him shaking.
"I-It fell!"
"Don't bullshit me. I know you still got it, now hand it over. And take that fuckin' hood off. Don't you know it's rude to hide your face when someone's speakin' to ya'!?" I yell as I roughly remove the hood from his head. After the hood is removed I feel my anger decrease some.
"Di Roy?"
"How do you know me?" He finds the strength to ask. I step away some and run a hand through my hair.
"You used to be the runt we sent out to sell for me and Nnoitra." I hiss out. Even the name left a bad taste in my mouth. Di Roy's eyes widen and tried to run. I stopped him.
"You're G-Grimmjow? N-No, lemme go! I don't got yer' money! L-Let go!" he kicks and screams.
"Hey. Calm down, I'm not gonna hurt you. HEY!" I scream. This stops his movements, although he is still shaking. "I said I'm not gonna hurt you. You don't owe me any money. And I'm not after ya'. I just want the wallet back that you grabbed from my guy." I say calmly. He pulls it out from his jacket and he shakily hands it over to me. I take it and walk away. It didn't want anything to do with that anymore. I stop in my tracks as I hear the kid mumbling to himself. I listen carefully.
"What am I gonna do now? Nnoitra's gonna beat the crap outta me for not havin' the money. Then he'll get Shiro to…Oh God I don't wanna die!" I watch as he pulls his knees to his chest. I slowly walk over to him and bend down so I'm close to him.
"You owe them some money, don't you?" He doesn't answer but I know that's what it is.
"Listen Di Roy, I'll make you a deal. If you don't mention my name to Nnoitra or Shiro, I'll give you some cash. At least then they won't kill you." He picks up his head and stares at me.
"O-Okay. I won't say nothin' to nobody!"
"Good, how old are you anyway?"
"I just turned sixteen last week…" he mumbles. He's a little younger than me when I was in a similar situation. I sigh.
"How much do you owe?"
"I owe them 500 dollars. T-They gave me a week but I only got 450. Even if it's only 50 dollars, they'll still kill me…" he tells me as he voice starts to waver.
"I know, kid. Here, take this. And if you can, get out of there. A kid like you shouldn't be tangled up in a man's life. You should be goin' to school and goin' on dates. Not hustling for people like Nnoitra." I tell him as I hand him the money from my wallet. The kid takes it but stares down at it questionably.
"Why are you helping me? You know if they see you talking with me, they'll find you too!"
"I'm not too worried about them anymore. And besides, I know what it's like to owe someone money that you can't pay back. Now, get out of here quickly. I'll tell them that the security guards got you." He stands up quickly and runs off. I walk out of the dead end and go back to where I left Ichigo.
"Grimmjow! Grimmjow, where are you?!" I hear. I turn to where I hear Ichigo. I watch him as he searches for me while looking worried. I jog up to him and tap his shoulder.
"Grimmjow! I was worried about you. When you didn't come back, I thought something might have happened…" I give him my signature smirk as I hand him his wallet.
"Geez, do I look that weak to you?" I ask playfully. His face brightens up instantly when I pull out his wallet.
"My wallet! But what about the kid that took it? What happened to him?" I scratch my head.
"The security guards came and picked him up, but that's not important. We need to catch the train before it leaves." Ichigo smiles sheepishly and plays with his hair.
"About the train, we already missed it. But Izuru refunded our tickets and gave us more. This train leaves in 5 minutes, so by the time we walk back it should be there." He explains. I stare at him in amazement and smile.
"You sure are somethin', you know that?" I ask him as we begin to walk. He puts his arms behind his back and walks faster to meet my pace. He looks at me with a confused face but smiles anyway.
"I don't know why that fascinates you. All I did was get more tickets…"
"Yeah, but you didn't have to. We could have found something else to do."
"Well yeah, but I wanted to go downtown with you so…" I smile and grab his hand.
"And being with me is what you wanted to do, right?" He looks up at me and grins at me.
"Right!" We reach our train and get on board. Just as I thought, it was crowded but Ichigo didn't seem to mind so if he didn't mind, I didn't mind. I take my seat but then realize Ichigo didn't have a seat. Not really the most gentlemanly thing to do, right?
"Uh Ichigo, you don't have to stand. I'll stand and you can take my seat." I suggest. Ichigo simply shakes his head 'no'.
"It's alright. You keep treating me like I'm a girl, I can at least stand on my own." He tells me. When he said it, it didn't sound bitchy. It just sounded like he was just tired of me being so nice. I could get with that. I nod at him and he goes back to standing, quietly humming to himself. I closed my eyes as I listened to his tuneless melody. Immediately after I did so, the melody stopped. I opened my eyes at the exact time Ichigo elbowed some guy on the train.
"Keep your hands to yourself, you pervert!" I watch, along with everyone else aboard the train, as the guy grabbed him now bleeding nose. The train stopped at the stop before ours and the guy ran out.
"Filthy pervert…" Ichigo mutters to himself.
"You know, I'm starting to like you more and more. You keep that up and I might have to take you home with me." Ichigo blushes and looks away. I then get an idea. I grab his waist and pulled him so that he was sitting on my lap.
"G-Grimmjow, what are you doing?"
"Calm down, I'm doing this so that the only person who will be touching you is me. You okay with that?" He was quiet for a moment but he then slowly leans into my chest.
"I guess that's fine…" he mumbles as the train doors close once more. After that, the train ride was quiet and too short for my liking. Too soon after we got out of the train, Ichigo stretched and waited for me to step out.
"We're finally here! So, where should we go first? The Ferris wheel? The concert? Oh, or how about the arcade?" Ichigo asks excitedly. I smile at him.
"How about the Ice Cream I promised you?"
"We could do that…" He holds my hand and leads me around the festival. The place was bright and colorful. There was lots of music, some from the concert farther down or some from inside the stores we walked past. I didn't really mind being led by him since this was my first time being here. I knew I could just walk side by side with him, but he looked so happy that I just let him be.
Eventually, we stopped in front of the Ice Cream parlor. He was about to order when his name was called.
"Ichigo!?" He turns around and he looks shocked.
"Yuzu?"
I know it's short but I have my reasons! I hope enjoyed a little bit of Grimmjow past, there will be more of that later on. And how cute is Ichigo!? Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed it. Remember to review, until next time Bye-Bye!
