Sorry for the shortened chapter. And I'm also sorry for any mistakes I've lost my beta reader so it won't be the same as usual.
After lunch we went to the training room and Four and Six still looked at us suspiciously. I asked Elisha what the board said again and she told me it was me and Annabeth, Sam and Dom, Elisha and Nate and Andrea and Tasha. Annabeth and I got ready on the floor and I think everyone knew this was going to be interesting. We started circling and we made sure to keep the trash talking to a minimum but even with us that was quite a lot.
"C'mon Seaweed Brain, have you lost your touch?"
"Stop trying to distract me Wise Girl, or you might distract yourself." I told her and she just smirked.
"You're talking to me, I don't get distracted." She told me and she started with the simple uppercut to the jaw. I could tell it packed some heat so I dodged it. I went in and swung my leg along the ground to trip her but she jumped. We continued like this for a while.
Tobias POV
After lunch in the training room we were continuing with hand to hand combat. Today the first people were Percy and Annabeth. They both got in the circle and started circling each other.
"C'mon Seaweed Brain, have you lost your touch?" Annabeth trash talked to Percy.
"Stop trying to distract me Wise Girl, or you might distract yourself." He told her and she just smirked.
"You're talking to me, I don't get distracted." She told him and I was about to yell at them to start when she started with a perfect uppercut to the jaw, but Percy dodged it like it was simple. He went in and swung his leg along the ground to trip her but she jumped. They continued like this for a while, and I saw Uriah come in and watch just smiling to himself. But now they started actually trying. Percy went for a punch to the stomach and Annabeth made a small movement but showed no sign of slowing down. She pounced on him and her nails scratched along his back. There was a bit of blood and Percy winced but he kept going, he kicked her thigh and she fell forward but quickly got back up. I was surprised how well these two fight. They dodged each other's moves like they knew what was going to happen and they barely winced when they were hit. They kept going and I checked my watch, it had already been twenty minutes! But they kept going and Eric once again walked in. He analyzed both of them very carefully, he watched every punch and every dodge and kick. I watched intently as Annabeth and Percy were nose to nose looking at each other and even I could see the love in their eyes. All of a sudden Annabeth grabbed his arm and twisted it behind his back.
"Do you ever learn?" Annabeth told Percy, while she chuckled. She then kicked his legs out from under him and I heard a loud crack and Annabeth's face immediately went to worry.
"Oh my gods, Percy are you okay?" she asked him and Eric stepped in.
"Keep going!" he yelled and Annabeth looked at Percy and he winked. He got up and she punched him hard in the stomach so he fell back into the sink and it burst. Though he didn't hit it very hard, he acted like he couldn't get up and Annabeth won and helped Percy up. I didn't pay much attention to the other fights, I just circled who won, which was Dom, Elisha and Andrea. But I would keep turning back to Percy and Annabeth. Their relationship was so strange. They were so comfortable with each other, but they knew each other too well, like they would easily give up anything for the other person. But I was brought out of my thoughts when Tris started pulling me to the dining hall for dinner. But when we got to our table I saw that Percy and Annabeth were sitting with Uriah, Christina, Will and Marlene laughing away. I hesitantly walked up to the table and sat down beside Christina and Tris sat beside me next to Uriah. Both Percy and Annabeth stopped laughing when they saw us.
"So, how do you guys know each other?" Tris asked pointing between Uriah, Percy and Annabeth.
"Oh, um, in school we, um, bumped into each other a few times." Uriah said, more like a question then a statement.
"Oh, um, cool." Tris said and we sat awkwardly like that for another few minutes.
"You know, Percy and I should really go to the," Annabeth started but she stopped like she wasn't sure what to say next.
"The tattoo parlour!" Percy put in quickly and Annabeth gave him a look and reluctantly nodded. She then grabbed Percy's arm and pulled him out of the dining hall.
Annabeth POV
"Tattoo parlour? Really?" I asked Percy, he could be such a Seaweed Brain!
"As I recall, you couldn't come up with anything better." He said and I glared at him which made him shut up.
"Anyway, we're running out of time! We have a few weeks to find the demigods, tell them who they are, get them out of here and get them past the fence! Not to mention we have to keep them safe the entire time, and considering this faction, that won't be easy!" I almost yelled at him in our secluded corner so no one could hear us.
"Calm down Annabeth, we can do this. Considering what we've been through it would be an insult to ourselves if we messed this up." Percy tried to reassure me.
"I guess." I answered and Percy pulled me in for one of his ever so warm hugs and kissed the top of my head.
"Wanna tell us how you two got so good at fighting?" Nate asked us rudely.
"We've been in a lot of fights." I answered staring him down.
"A little Stiff like you? What did you do, glance at your reflection?" he answered as if I was some weak little girl.
"Back off!" Percy said getting angry, by now all the initiates were watching intently.
"Or what, you'll start yelling equations at me, Erudite?"
"No, I'll punch your face in!" Percy yelled back, I grabbed onto his arm but he brushed it off.
"I'd like to see you try." Nate said trying to get in Percy's face despite the height difference.
"Is that a challenge?"
"Is that a threat?" by now I was mad at both of them, Nate for just being Nate and Percy for not knowing when to stop. Before I could say anything Four and Six walked in, I guess they heard the yelling.
"Hey! If you two want to fight so bad I can be your opponent!" Four yelled at us. Neither of us said anything but we kept our eyes on each other's in a hard glare.
"That's what I thought. Now everyone go to bed!"
Tobias POV
Annabeth and Percy were strange, I had this feeling in the pit of my gut that whoever they were, whatever they were was dangerous to us all.
