Selveria scowled as she swung her extremely large rifle, Named Rhum and let it loose, filling the nearest bulbous creature with so many bullets that it's body fell to pieces on the spot. They were not in a good situation. She had chosen their base's location because of its prime defensive position, but with the creatures crawling down from the cliffs around them their prime positioning had turned onto a barrel, and they were the fish.

"Comander Bles, the creatures are closing in on our supply tent!" a soldier yelled as he ran over to Selvaria, sweat trickling down his brow and his breathing heavy and irregular. It was an understandable thing, especially since the strange creatures were taking their toll on her forces. They died easily enough to bullets and flame, but there were so many of them and their attacks were so strange and powerful.

"I see. Move one of the tanks in the way. Mortar any of those things that get close, we can't lose the storage tents."

"Th-that's the problem, the tanks, there's only a few that haven't been hit by those things. Many have broken treads, and we're almost out of mortar ammunition!"

Selvaria scowled and looked around, noticing the battlefield around her. The bodies of dozens of soldiers lay on the ground, many of them cut to pieces by the silver mist that had attacked them, many more that had been killed by the concussions of the bulbous creatures. Among the dead bodies was the body of her engineer, Johann. He had been invaluable in the first minutes of the battle, relaying orders to the sides of the base and between its areas, but when the first of the creatures appeared, one of them jumped him and its beam pierced his chest. Even so he knelt on the ground and continued firing until she had gotten there, and apologized just before his last breath. "Is there no mobile tank that can be sent over?"

The soldier shook his head. "My own groups tank only has AP shells left, and it's tracks have been sliced right off. Our captain is trying to have them replaced, but with the creatures everywhere-,"

Selvaria nodded and slung Rhum over her shoulder and took a step back, reaching into the tent beside her. "Then I shall go and hold the tent, we must keep the base in one piece if we are to win!" she pulled her lance and shield from the tent, her body seeming to glow just from the touch of them.

"But, the base is in chaos already! Sure, we're holding out, but these things seem to be using the land to their advantage and popping up where we least expect them. Can we seriously-."

"We are soldiers of the Emperor and his Excellency Maximillian, we will hold, because of that!" Selvaria yelled just as one of the bulbous creatures appeared just a few feet away from the two of them. Extending her lance she stepped forward and impaled the bulbous creature, watching its body slump to the ground, the glow of its body dying down. "Do you understand!?"

"Y-yes! I shall accompany you, Commander!" the soldier yelled as he checked his gun and hefted it in his hands.

Just as Selvaria stepped away from the tent a massive blast echoed through the base, and a cloud of dust fell upon them. "That, was that-?"

"I- I thinks so, I think that was the storage tent. No wait, the smokes too far away!" the soldier said as he pointed at the smoke rising from the distance. "I , I think that was the tank fuel storage, the ragnite tanks."

Selvaria grimaced. "Go check on the rest of the supplies and rally as many people as you can. I'm going to take the high ground and end these creatures, once and for all!" Selvaria stated as she ran to the nearest cliffside and leapt up, leaping far higher than any normal human could ever hope too.

She knew that her order was going to be a death sentence to dozens of her men, but if she could grab the attention of the creature, she could stop even more of their deaths. Sacrificing a few lives to save the rest of them was something she had done many times, but all of those had been sacrificed to enemies she could see and understand, not things like this.

Reaching the summit of the cliff, Selvaria looked down and forced the glow from her Valkyria's body to its utmost brightness, hoping it would attract the creature's attention. It worked, and as she looked down she could see many of the creates backing away from her forces and looking in her direction. What she didn't expect was what happened next. The creatures put their attention on her as she had planned, but then they began to charge toward her, climbing over through and around every obstacle in their path. They ignored the imperial soldier's complete, regardless of who or what fired at them. It was if she had suddenly become the only target in their eyes. The effect was even better than she could have hoped. She allowed her Valkyrian spear to charge, and let loose a beam of energy toward the oncoming creatures. It cut through them like a heated knife through butter, but it wasn't enough. All of the creatures were heading towards her, and there were so many she could not fire at them again from her current angle, at least not without annihilating entire sections of her camp. Her bight idea was now backfiring.

She needed to move, but all the cliffs above her were too sheer, even with her lance enhanced powers, and all of the area below was covered with her allies, or more creature storming towards her. If she leapt through the creatures and went down to the ground, she could lead all of the creatures out of the base, but she would be unable to attack them, else she would hit her own people. If she stayed on the high ground, she would be unable to fight back, and would be mobbed.

Just as she made her decision, a single shell flew over the horizon, and stuck the cliffs below her, blowing the rock to pieces, and many of the creatures along with it. Before she could look to see the shells firing location another came soaring in, striking the rocks beside where the first stuck, and sending dozens of boulders down, crushing many creatures as they fell.

Coming toward them from the horizon, firing as they went, where two Gallian tanks. The larger of the two was unlike any other model of Gallian tank, it was both longer, had a longer gun, and looked far more dangerous. It was a tank that had been in imperial reports many times already. The other tank was smaller, but had a strange turret on it, one without cannon, and instead was equipped with a twin linked machine gun barrels. This one was completely unknown to her, and had yet to be in any report she read. The smaller tank sped ahead of the larger one and stopped right at the edge of the imperial camp, its guns lifting away from the imperial soldiers, and toward the cliff that Selvaria stood on. At first, she figured they had been aiming for her, despite the futility of it while she held her lance and shield, but then it's chain of fire began striking the cliff everywhere but where she was standing. Its fire pierced the creatures in droves and as it did the second larger tank rolled up beside it, firing a shell into the imperial base. When the shell struck the ground though, it exploded in a cloud of smoke, smoke that kept the imperial soldiers hidden from the creatures as many of them seemed to begin to panic and wander aimlessly. A moment later dozens of Gallian soldier appeared around the tanks, and began firing at all of the creatures, pulverizing them as they came into view.

With bullets, mortars and flamethrowers targeting them the creatures broke to pieces, and in a matter of minutes all of them appeared to be dead. As Selvaria ripped her lance out of one of the bulbous creatures and flung it to the side, sending ribbons of sick purple and green liquid into the air as she could see the large Gallian tank pulling up to the camps edge. Selvaria turned to the tank and awaited its commanders expected exit. They had not attacked her troops, and now were holding a distance from her people's camp, only their command tank had neared her. It was obvious that its leader had it in their mind to speak to her, and she figured she knew what about.

The cover to the tank pushed open and fell to the side, and then the commander of it popped his head out of the tank. His hair was a dirty blonde and his eyes were pure, but not without a shadow to them. They were different from Maximillian's and far more like Jaegers, calm and full of hope as well as anger and pain, but they showed what he felt.

"You're Selvaria Bles?" the young man asked, his voice telling that he knew his words to be true.

Selvaria nodded. "And if I'm not mistaken from your uniform and tank, you are the commanding officer of the Gallian Militias Squad Seven, correct?"

The young man nodded and smiled. "Lieutenant Welkin Gunther, yes. Our captain is wishing to speak to you, about these creatures. She feels that working together may be symbiotic for both of us, and I am inclined to agree honestly."

Selvaria looked at the man and raised a brow to him. The name Welkin Gunther had appeared on many of their reports. He had stopped jaegers attacks many times, and had been the one responsible for taking Fouzen. She had figured that he would be a skilled and serious commander, not someone like the one before her. The man before her seemed very aloof and calm, almost ignorant or oblivious she might even say. He was the exact opposite of what she had expected. "Your commander wishes to speak, about cooperation against the creatures?"

Welkin nodded. "Yes, that's basically it. No one knows anything about them, so it would be better if everyone worked together."

Selvaria glared at Welkin and could not help but see that he did not seem to be lying. "Very well, if safety is guaranteed I shall hear what your commanding officer wishes to say."

Welkin nodded. "As the leader of Squad Seven, I guarantee your safety."

"Very well, let us see what will come of this then."
