Nathalie had no idea what to do. She cared about Adrien as if he was her own family. She'd also fallen in love with Gabriel Agreste who she'd been working with for years now!
Adrien had said it while he was talking to his Kwami. There was no doubt in her mind that Adrien was Chat Noir. If she was to tell Gabriel she would no doubt be the destruction of the relationship between his boy and his father. Gabriel had said countless times he was doing what he was doing for Adrien's sake, but the boy would not understand. He would say being Chat Noir was more important than saving his mother. He knew very well that in order to save one life with the Miraculouses, another life would have to be lost.
What do I do? I can't go say what's going on and that's that. Adrien is only a child, and maybe it's best that he continue fighting his father everyday without knowing it and winning over get into a war with his father who would be trying to take his miraculous. In the beginning Gabriel had the best of intentions, but after a while the power has gotten to him. Now he does not only want to save his wife. He will do much more things with the Miraculouses. He's claimed it before, he wants to be ruler of the world. Adrien would never agree to that, especially with how fragile their relationship already is.
Nathalie knew what she had to do next. She had to keep her composure, request to talk to Adrien outside so there was no chance they'd be heard, and tell him she not only knows about his identity but that he needs to give his miraculous to someone who can protect it from his father.
With long, confident strides as if she wasn't panicking on the inside, Nathalie entered Adrien's room. She caught Plague-as Adrien called his kwami-flying under the pillow though said nothing of it.
"Adrien Agreste. I need to talk to you privately outside while your father is away. Are you able to walk?" Nathalie requested in her usual confident voice. She felt her heart squeeze in sorrow when the boy sat up and attempted to hide his pain when he cringed. Adrien was only a teenager and did not deserve to have as much on his plate as he did. It made sense though, considering how many times Adrien had been caught escaping the house even though it seemed impossible. He was Chat Noir and could easily leave his room from his window in the blink of an eye despite the long drop.
"I can walk. If you'll allow me to get my shoes on I'll meet you near the garden." Adrien said in an almost hesitant voice. It was obvious he'd caught on and knew there was something really wrong going on.
Nathalie almost smiled. Adrien was becoming so professional as he grew. It made sense actually. After all the boy had been raised by a strict fashion designer and his assistant who honestly saw him like her own son at times.
"That's good. I will be waiting for you. Would you like something to drink?" Nathalie showed no signs of her secret thoughts and managed to keep her stoic expression. The boy in question nodded his head and began grabbing his shoes.
About ten minutes later Adrien met Nathalie in the garden. He tried to deny it when the assistant claimed she knew he was Chat Noir, but when Nathalie told the boy she knew about Plague and mentioned the kwami by name...he knew he was screwed.
"Please don't tell my father. He'll never let me outside again!" Adrien exasperated and threw his hands up before slumping in his chair. Nathalie almost considered telling the boy his father was Hawkmoth, but she knew that that wasn't hers to tell. Ladybug and Chat Noir would find Hawkmoth. Nathalie had no business talking about Gabriel's secrets with Adrien.
"I won't Adrien. That's not mine to tell. Here." Nathalie handed Adrien a pair of crutches and a glass of strawberry juice. The boy looked up at her confused.
"I found them in the closet. They're your size, I checked. When you're ready come back to your room. We have piano lessons to work on." Adrien nodded his head slowly as Nathalie left. He was still in shock. Suddenly Plague flew out from his hiding place nearby.
"Dude you're just telling everyone now aren't you?" Adrien glared at his Kwami who raised his hands defensively. "I mean...not on purpose, but what I'm trying to say is-"
"If this keeps happening we're totally screwed?" Adrien cut his kwami off. Plague nodded his head before flying down to drink what was left of the juice. Adrien smiled at the sight before using his crutches to walk back into the house.
(A/N) So I'm guessing a lot of your really thought it was going to be Gabriel? Yep well I wanted to add more secrets to the story. See ya next chapter!
