Emma, about 17 now, was walking down an alleyway with a face that showed she had a purpose for being there. Then it was spotted, her yellow bug, but instead of just entering it she was breaking into it. At this point in time, she was a thief. After she managed to get the car going, a man they recognized as Neal popped out of the backseat. "Impressive. But really, you could've just asked for the keys."

So this was how they met. No wonder she didn't tell us the story, thought Snow whom was far from impressed with Emma's actions. She also noticed that Hook seemed to hold a large mixture of emotions judging by his face. He seemed impressed, jealous, angry, but still in awe of the woman he still barely knew. Was he really in love with her? Snow mused these thoughts until police sirens brought her back into the here and now.

"Hi," said Emma her smile full of apologies, but still a clear poker face.

Neal quickly stepped in. "Terribly sorry officer, but this is actually my car. I'm uh, trying to teach my girlfriend how to drive stick."

`The officer looked over the scene in front of him, but he seemed to believe Neal's words. "She's got a lot to learn."

"I know, but you know… Women." With that the officer let them off the hook.

Apparently Neal keeping Emma not arrested was what seemed to start the strong bond between them. But Charming had not been foolish enough not to notice that Neal was a bad influence on his little girl. He taught her new ways to get away with the crimes they would commit together and he influenced her to drink way more than the norm. It also didn't help that she was underage, but when a new revelation through a scene came about, Charming was far from ready to know the most damaging part of this relationship.

Emma was laying down in the backseat of the yellow bug when Neal came back in through the front with a paper bag. "Hey babe," he announced his entrance to his girl, giving her a short but passionate kiss. "I got something for us." With that he emptied the contents within the bag showing multiple kinds of drugs ranging from heroine to crack.

All of the watching party couldn't hide the horror upon their faces as Neal introduced young Emma to drugs injecting her with a clear flow of heroine. What they had was the farthest thing from love, it was an addiction. Through further memories Emma seemed to catch onto the drug train quick and fast. They have all previously heard that they provide a numbing effect to the person using. Her past had definitely made her the perfect candidate, she needed help. Neal was far from right for her, especially when they found out how he had chosen to leave her. She had risked everything for what she thought was love, but he was too much of a coward and took advantage of her. It went by so quickly, the promise of Tallahassee, the promise of a home, Emma taking the watch so Neal wouldn't be caught, and alas the pair of handcuffs going on Emma's wrists. Hook felt a sudden understanding coming over his own memories of this beautiful woman. She couldn't trust him, thought he was another Neal. This must have meant that she did feel something or she wouldn't have had that fear overtake her to leave him with the babysitting giant. He dared a look at Charming who looked ready to kill. Then again they probably all were. The most twisted thing is that Emma had clearly still loved the man after all the crap and the years of separation. And Neal, Neal was the very definition of coward.
