Chapter 3 With the Allens

Central City: Allen Residence: July 5

A place like Allen residences (which is what Kid Flash told her it was called when he brought her here) was somewhere Supergirl never thought she was going to be. However, the day was something she didn't believe she was going to experience either. It all felt like a dream, but it had only been eight hours since she had been found by Robin, Kid Flash, and Aqualad, brought Cadmus down, literally, and was completely free.

On top of that, she met the entire Justice League and Superman. She had always wondered what the Man of Steel was like. Unfortunately, he was not that interested in introducing himself. Supergirl could honestly say she sent the Man of Steel flying off.

Since she had nowhere else to go, it was decided that she would stay with Kid Flash until Batman would give them his decision.

"Anyway, the three of us snuck into Project Cadmus and found Supergirl. We rescued her, she saved us. We bonded, sort of, and now we wait three days on Bats decision," said Kid Flash.

Supergirl looked at the woman who Kid Flash was talking to. With Kid Flash's mask off now, the two looked as if they could be related. Both shared similar red hair except the woman's was long and pulled back, and both had bright green eyes. She wasn't sure if Flash shared these similar looks because he was wearing his mask still.

That's when she noticed that the woman was staring at her with a warm smile before approaching her.

"I'm Iris," she said. "It's nice to meet you Supergirl."

Iris offered her hand, and Supergirl shook it. She knew from her genomorph education that this was how people introduced themselves.

"Um, hi, nice to meet you," she said. "I came from a test tube." Supergirl thought it was polite to get all the facts out in the open.

Iris gave her a strange look as Kid Flash chuckled behind her. Supergirl wondered what she'd said wrong.

"Hm, straight to the point. I like that about a person," said Iris.

Iris then looked over her, Supergirl could tell what she was looking at. She was as much as a mess as Kid Flash.

"Wally, why don't you clean up while Barry calls your parents telling them that you're safe and staying the night here," said Iris.

Flash and Kid Flash both nodded and went their separate ways. Iris turned back to Supergirl.

"Come on let's get you clean up, too," said Iris. She led Supergirl to a bedroom and closed the door behind them. "Now you go take a shower while I pick out some clothes for you to wear."

Supergirl tried to protest, saying "Oh, but I already have-."

"Don't be silly. There's no way I'm going to let you stay in that torn dirty outfit when I have good clothes for you to wear," said Iris as she opened the bathroom door. "Now go on. You don't have to worry about anything. You're safe here."

Supergirl nodded and walked into the bathroom as Iris closed the door behind her. She started to undress and stepped into the shower. Supergirl could hear the other two men in the house talking to each other in another room. The water was running so she couldn't catch much of the conversation. When she was done, she stepped out of the bathroom and wrapped a towel around herself.

Walking back into the bedroom she looked around. She had glanced around the house earlier. Sure, she knew what a home was, but she had never actually been in an actual human house before. The house had everything that she pictured household would have. A living room with furniture and a TV, walls painted in bright colors with pictures of happy people.

However, there was something else about this place. When Supergirl walked into the Allen house, she felt calm, comfortable. She, also, noticed the change when Flash and Kid Flash stepped through the door. They seemed more relaxed and smiled more. It was like they were at peace.

"Okay I found you something to wear," cheered Iris. "Of course, it took me a while trying to find something. You have the smallest figure I have ever seen."

Iris placed the clothes on the bed as Supergirl finished drying off. Once Supergirl was done she got dressed. She put on black shorts with a blue T-shirt, the neckline and sleeves were orange with a significant number 7 in white on the front. She noticed that the outfit seemed a little big.

"Guess it's not a perfect fit, but it will have to do," admitted Iris.

"It will do fine, thank you," replied Supergirl.

"Sorry that I don't have a bra for you to wear but I don't have one your size." apologized Iris.

"What's a bra?" she asked.

"Oh well, it's a piece of clothing that people wear," explained Iris.

"So, do Kid Flash and Flash wear one?"

Iris laughed "No they don't, it's only something that girls wear, to support their breast."

"Oh."

Iris picked up Supergirl's torn outfit, "Well no wonder you don't know what a bra is. There's one built in here in your suit."

"I never noticed," admitted Supergirl.

"I figured you didn't. If you want I could repair this suit for you. Or throw it away," offered Iris.

Supergirl looked at the torn beat up suit, nodding, and said: "That's okay, leave it like that. I'm going to keep it."

Iris gave her a look. "Why?"

"Because," explained Supergirl, taking the suit from Iris. "I want to be sure that none of this was a dream." Another reason why she wanted to keep it but would never say it to Iris is the suit was the only thing she owned. And although its origins were from a horrible place, it was a part of her past she didn't want to give up yet.

Iris gave a smile back. "Understood, I'll put it away somewhere safe for you."

From the smile, it felt like to Supergirl that Iris did indeed understand what she was feeling without having to say anything. It brought a warm feeling inside of Supergirl's stomach and rose to her chest. This must be what happiness feels like.

"I WASN'T GOING TO DO IT I SWEAR!"

Central City: Allen Residence: July 5

Wally was sitting on the couch eating chips now out of his Kid Flash costume and wearing shorts with a T-shirt and a Flash sweatshirt. Uncle Barry had already treated his injuries after scolding him more about what he did. Wally was sitting on the couch waiting for Aunt Iris and Supergirl to come out. He guessed his Aunt was trying to find something for Supergirl to wear… which meant she would be naked.

He glanced over at his Uncle who was in the kitchen trying to make something for all of them to eat. Quickly as he could, he raced passed the room and found himself standing in front of the door of his Aunt and Uncle's bedroom.

Okay, he admitted it, he was curious. He'd never seen a naked girl before, and Supergirl was beautiful looking with clothes on, but his Aunt was in their too and she would be pissed if he even tried to get a peek at Supergirl's naked body. His Uncle would also be mad. But then, on the other hand, he could sneak a glimpse of what Supergirl looks like and then brag about it to Dick.

"Hey, Kid."

Wally jumped five feet in the air. "I WASN'T GOING TO DO IT I SWEAR!"

Wally turned to look at his Uncle staring at him suspiciously.

"What?"

"Uh-oh, nothing. Never mind," uttered Wally, quickly.

Before his Uncle could say anything else the bedroom door opened, and Wally was knocked down.

"Ouch, what the," he said, looking up to see Supergirl on top of him staring down at him in shock.

Wally's face goes completely red. "Oh, hey Supergirl," he greeted the best he can without his voice raising.

Supergirl crawled off him and sat on the floor next to him. "Sorry, I didn't know you were right at the door. I heard you yell. I thought you were in danger or something," she explained.

"Oh no, it's my fault. I shouldn't have been standing in front of the door in the first place."

"Wally, why were you yelling," asked Iris, brow raised, stepping out of the room.

"Oh, no reason really."

Iris and Barry both shared a look but decided to let it go this once.

"Well if you two are done sitting on the ground I have mac and cheese ready to eat," announced Barry.

"Awesome," cheered Wally.

"Well you two can eat that if you want, but I'm going to make dinner," declared Iris.

"What's wrong with my mac and cheese," asked Barry as Iris walked to the kitchen.

"Because this is Supergirl's first night and I'm not having her first ever homemade meal be mac and cheese," scolded Iris.

"Oh, good point. Then I don't think you should make anything solid. You don't know how Supergirl's stomach would handle it," called Barry, following his wife into the kitchen.

With both adults gone Supergirl and Wally were left sitting on the ground together.

"Um, here let me help you up," offered Wally.

"That's okay, I can do it," said Supergirl.

Both teens stood up, and Wally just noticed that her eyes were bright blue, like the sky.

"Kid Flash," she called.

"It's Wally…my name is Wally West," he said.

"Wally," she said trying out his name. "Wally, thank you for letting me stay here with you and for everything else."

He gave a big grin. "No problem. We're heroes it's what we do."

Barry watched from the kitchen as the two teens talked.

"It's an incredible really," he said, musing out loud.

"What's incredible," asked his wife not evening looking up from the kitchen counter.

"Her. It's never been possible to make people from the just genetic material before. Sure, there have been many theories on the subject, but it was just ruled out as impossible. Yet here she is. There's just no other word for describing it but incredible."

"What else do you think about her besides the fact that she's a science miracle," asked Iris, a hint of teasing in her voice.

"I don't know, the kid was made to replace Superman. And she's said to have Superman's DNA, to be his kid. But-."

Iris turned around to face her husband, head cocked, persisting. "But?"

"But we don't know a thing about her past. We're taking the boys word that she's the real deal."

"Are you afraid that she might be trouble?" asked Iris.

"No, she's just a mystery," answered Barry. "She's so small, it's hard to believe that she shares any relation to Superman at all."

"Bruce will probably figure it out, you know how he is with mysteries," said Iris. "I wouldn't worry too much."

Barry laughed. "Yeah, and don't forget me. I'm pretty good at solving stuff."

Iris kissed him on the cheek, she said "I know you are. Now, clean up the mess you made in the kitchen while I make some food."

"Aw, I was afraid you say that," he groaned.

After dinner, Wally took Supergirl up to his room while Iris and Barry went to bed.

"Take the bed. I'll sleep on the couch," said Wally. He fixed the bed for her.

"But it's your bed. I can sleep on the couch or the floor," argued Supergirl.

"No way. You're not sleeping on the couch just take the bed. Good night."

Wally closed the door leaving Supergirl alone. She sat down on the bed thinking about everything that happened. She was trying not to let the hurt of Superman rejecting and the League behavior her bother her. It was stupid really, getting all upset over it. Supergirl knows that there's no chance Superman would ever accept her.

"Are you sure you know what you're doing," asked Supergirl, concerned.

"Relax. The Wall-man knows how to cook," reassured Wally.

Supergirl sat at the kitchen table watching Wally try to cook something for the two of them to eat. She didn't know much about cooking, but she had a feeling that Wally was having trouble. Of course, maybe the pancakes he is making are supposed to be smoking.

Soon Barry and Iris came downstairs.

"Good morning," greeted Barry.

"Morning," replied Supergirl.

"Morning," called Wally, trying to get a pancake off the pan.

"What are you doing kid," asked Barry. His nose wrinkling from the smell in the air.

"Making pancakes," said Wally, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Barry cast a look towards Iris.

"Right, so what do you kids plan to do today," inquired Iris.

"Don't know," said Wally.

"Well, maybe you kids could go to the mall. Supergirl does need some clothes," suggested Iris.

"Actually, this came in the mail today," said Barry, holding out the open envelope. "It's for you." He handed it to Supergirl.

"Who's it from," she asked, taking it from him.

"From someone who cares," he answered.

Supergirl looked at him confused. She looked inside the envelope and saw a credit card with a note. All it said was "for expense" with a bat-symbol underneath. Why would Batman give her this?

From someone who cares. What does that mean?

Iris also looked at the card. "Well I guess we're going shopping," she said.

"Pancakes are done," called Wally, putting down a plate of unappetizing burnt pancakes.

Iris, Barry, and Supergirl stared at Wally.

"What?"

Iris placed a hand on Supergirl's shoulder. "After I make breakfast first."
