The next day, Dan woke up in a groggy state. He wasn't hung over because wine wasn't as heavy as beer or vodka, but he wasn't in a prefect state either. He had an old chubby Labrador retriever named Paula who was soundly sleeping next to him, on his bed. Paula was nearly eight years old and she was one of the laziest dogs that he'd ever known. She was a gift from Amy.

He checked his phone, which had a message from a friend asking why he hadn't come last night. His only response to that was, "Busy." He swung his legs off his bed and trudged downstairs to his kitchen, Paula slowly following him. When he got to the kitchen he poured himself a bowl of milk and fruity loops. Paula was eyeing him.

"Yeah, I see you. I'll give you food," he said to the dog who was sitting and patiently waiting.

The sun had risen and was now shining brightly for a new Saturday. Dan lived on the outskirts of the city, where he had bought a huge piece of land and a house on it. He enjoyed the peaceful living, with the numerous trees that surrounded his house and the Mexican grass that grew, which was perfect to lay on. It was very different Natalie's house.

Dan was 26, well off and happy. While he had taken the business route, Amy had taken the medical one. She was a busy person, and he always cherished her visits whenever she came, which was rare. And today, she said she'd be coming to meet him, so he was looking forward to it.

He went upstairs to have a shower, whilst Paula decided to go outside and roll in the grass. After an hour, he was dressed and ready, waiting on his couch with Paula still running outside, chasing butterflies.

After about 10 minutes, Dan could hear the engine of a car, slowly become louder and louder until he could see it park in front of his house. Strangely enough, it wasn't even Amy's car. When he had gone outside to see who this car belonged to, the sound of two doors opening could be heard.

On the passenger's side, Amy could be seen, getting out of the sleek car. On the driver's side a man with a black shirt, green jacket with jeans could be seen. Dan had never seen him before.

"Hi Paula," Amy said, petting the chubby dog which had gone up to greet her.

"Oh, whose dog is this?" The man asked.

"It's my brothers," she answered.

Dan walked up to the two of them. He could finally see the man more clearly. He had dark brown hair, exactly like Dan's but he had honey coloured eyes, much different from Dan's. His posture was rigid, and he was tall, nearly over 6 feet. He was twirling the car keys in his left hand and petted Paula with his right.

"Hi, I'm Dan, Amy's brother," Dan said, with a smile on his face.

"I'm Carlos, Amy's friend," he responded, shaking Dan's hand. His voice was deep, and his tone was happy and warm.

But Dan begged to differ. They most certainly didn't look like friends, when he observed their body languages. He was stuck to Amy, his arm almost wrapped around her. If people saw them, they'd think that they were a couple. Even Amy was smiling at him when he talked.

However, Dan didn't say anything about what he thought.

"Please come in," he said, guiding them to the front door of his house.

After they settled down on his sofas, and finished off with the formalities. The real reason why Carlos had come was revealed.

"Dan," Carlos said, observing the picture of Dan and Amy when they were both children, "you know Natalie Kabra well, don't you? I saw you on her show,"

Dan studied him. His face looked serious, as if this was concerned with important matters. Amy only looked around the place, her observant eyes taking in every detail.

"Yes, I do," he said slowly. Well, he knew her well, over a decade was well enough.

"I had asked Amy how I could contact her, but Amy said she had lost contact with her a long time ago. I saw you on Natalie's show, and I realised you were her brother, so I planned on meeting you myself,"

Dan was disappointed. He had only Amy to come, so that they could talk about their lives, and the events that had happened since the last time they met.

"I have her number if you'd like, although, may I ask why you need it?"

"Of course. Forgive me for being so demanding," he said quickly, "I'm the son of Gonzalo

Vasquez, and he's done a few business projects with Vikas Kabra. You know, they both have stakes in a couple of companies. My father has passed a business down to me and suggested that I work with a daughter or son of a Kabra and since Ian is ruled out as a possibility, I thought Natalie would be suitable."

True, Ian had left the business world, or any world of career. He had joked about becoming a monk and living in the quarters of a monastery, but no one really knew what happened. When he turned 25, he had collected his personal savings which, unsurprisingly, was a lot, and had announced that he was going to travel the world. Natalie would talk to him every couple of months, but the majority of his whereabouts were unknown. He wasn't tied down to anything, his father hadn't minded since they weren't low on funds, his mother couldn't care less and his sister had only approved if they kept in touch. And there was no girlfriend. That the family knew of, at least. But then again, no one knew what he was really doing.

Dan checked his phone and gave Carlos Natalie's number. No doubt, Carlos was a rich Latino businessman with important purposes in mind. Dan didn't mind giving it to him.

"Well, thank you Dan, for the number. If you ever need anything, just ask. Amy, shall we?" Carlos was getting up and was looking at Amy. He dug his hand in his pocket and pulled out the keys to his car. Amy got up behind him who was followed by Dan. Carlos was nice enough to open the door for Amy and let her walk through before he followed suit.

Amy turned to her brother before getting into the car. "Thanks Dan, I'll see you soon,"

"Yeah, no problem. Take care," Dan responded, watching his sister and her friend get into the car. He brought the engine to life, and reversed to turn around and leave, until the car only became a dot in the distance.

After a few hours, after watching TV next to Paula and taking a nice long swim in the pool adjacent to the house. He got a call. He picked it up.

"Hello?"

"Dan?" Natalie's voice asked.

"Yep, that's me," he answered cheerfully.

"You gave Carlos my number?"

"I did, anything wrong?" He asked apprehensively.

"Oh no, I wanted to thank you. My father's happy that I'm working with him, he said it's a bit like how he worked with Carlos' dad,"

"That's great." Dan said, genuinely happy that all was well on her end.

"My father wants to meet you," she then blurted out. There was an eerie silence on Dan's end of the line.

"What for?" Came the curious voice.

"Not sure, he's just interested,"

Silence again. Dan wasn't keen on meeting many people, especially Vikas Kabra. He liked a life with few close people, like his sister and a few family friends. Which is why he mostly ran agencies, and not business projects. They were too strenuous.

"Dan?"

"Okay," he said, deciding to see what was in store for him,"when can I meet him?"

"Well, it's actually a family dinner. But it's only you, me and my father."

"Alright,"

"So, Sunday night then?"

"What should I wear?" Dan asked. He knew he couldn't walk in whatever he wanted.

"Just wear one of those formal jackets, okay?"

"Yes, I'll see you then," he said.

"Done. Bye Dan."
