Chapter Four: She is a Storm Like Her Name

It had been just a little over a month since Violet had been excommunicated from Chronos. The one thing that the girl didn't realize was that meant she lost everything. Her resources, friends, links, home, anything that she had earned from Chronos was taken from her. Now, Violet was left alone and defenseless. The only thing was that Sephiria didn't take away her weapons. She was lucky her rank wasn't too high or things would have been so much worse without her weapons. Even with all the odds against her, Violet found ways to keep alive and earn money for her basic needs. It was hard for the first week, she had to learn the hard way. Even her accounts had been taken but now way was she going to give up.

Being 18, she easily found work that suited her skills. Violet got her Sweeper licence, which she didn't mind one bit. Being a sweeper or bounty hunter was similar to her former position in the organization. Well, expect for the killing part, there was none of that. The girl actually was starting to like it, easy, quick and paid well depending on the job. For her, taking on the big ones was like playing a game compared to the work in Chronos. Aside from that, she had a pretty easy life and best of all; no Time Guardians harassing her to train. The independence was just as good as freedom.

'I should have done this a long time ago', she thought while entering the sweepers lounge. A place where different bounty hunters come and where jobs are posted.

The girl walked by the security with a smile "Hey boys", she said casually.

Violet earned a smirk from one of the built guards, "Orkan! It's about time". he greeted.

She giggled while entered the building, "I know. my last job took longer than expected". the girl informed, waving her hand. She was a regular here and didn't need to show her ID. Making her way down the hall into the main area, it was like a huge hang out spot. Mostly men were in the place, Violet found that not too many females become sweepers. So of course, as soon as she walked in eyes landed on her body.

The girl planted a poker face on as she walked straight over to the bar, where an older bartender smiled at her arrival.

"Still causing trouble I see", the man said to her, commenting on the commotion she made.

Violet smirked, this wasn't anything new. "Of course Pops", she responded with a smirk, making the man chuckle.

Pops or Michael White, had been the one who helped Violet out when things got rough. He took her in and got the girl on her feet. The man even aided in getting her sweeper licence. Michael looked good for a 35 year old man, blue eyes and blonde hair. Violet always wondered why he wasn't married yet, she never seen a ring on his finger and didn't pry about it. It was the same for him but the only difference was that he knew everything about Violet. Everything.

He pasted her a short glass with water, "Seems your last job was a bit rough", the man states.

"Yeah, it was hard tracking the target down", she informed the bartender while taking the glass. Sipping it, she gave Michael a small glance.

The man knew her long enough to pick up the sign that she wanted to ask him something, "What is it Violet?".

Her eyes shifted around to make sure no one was listening to the following words, "Well... um... Have the rumours died down yet?".

Michael sighed and answered the girl with the shake of his head, "I'm afraid not". a smirk curled his lips, "However, you've earned a new nickname".

Her eyes lit up in dismay, "what is it?". She asked, voice mixed with hesitation and nervousness.

"The ally Reaper" he said with a small smile.

Violet giggled, "I always wanted a cool and deadly nickname. So~ fabulous~", she said sarcastically, hiding her true feelings.

Michael gave her a sympathetic stare, "There's a pretty high bounty on the top of the wall if that makes you feel better".

The girl instantly lit up, "Yes! shopping money", she said with sparking eyes, the last job ruined her favourite jacket. The man shook his head as she chuckled at her.

"It's a little high up, need me to call Luke for you?", the elder man offered. She looked at the bounty broad, seeing three posts lined up at the very top.

"Nah, i should be fine. If i only ask Luke he'll bug me none stop about how short I am again". she said with a smile as she moved away from the bar. The girl wasn't that short but was shorter than the body guard at the entrance named Luke.

Once again, she felt eyes on her body. Moving with her as she stopped at the giant wall of paper job ads. Her neck tilted upward to debate which job Michael was talking about and how she was going to reach the poster. It was twice her height! and she was in one way about to call Luke or get a chair. Nope, she'll figure it out somehow.

On the other side of the lounge, a little blonde girl followed Violet's movements. Eve found the woman attracting, there was just something about her that lured the attention of others around her and Eve happened to be a victim. Even as she took a sip from the glass in her hands, her eyes never once wandered off the female figure. Noticing the black leather gloves on Violets' hands.

The brunette sitting with Eve looked at her in question, "What ya looking at little princess?". He asked, noticing her dazed expression. When the girl only blinked, Her two partners followed Eve's eyes onto a girl in a fitted black long sleeve shirt with leather straps around her arms and torso, black tights, a ruffles purple skirt with heeled leather boots. Black wavy hair that stopped at her shoulder blades and skin that resembled chocolate. Being a woman was enough but adding exotic changes things.

Train noticed two gun holsters placed on the girls hips. Guess she's a marksman too? For some reason or the other he was like Eve, unable to take his eyes off the girl but more out of curiosity than awe. "Oh, so that's what got your attention?". he said while openly staring along with Eve.

Sven on the other hand hummed in understanding to why the girl attracted Eve's eyes, "female sweepers are rear these days" he stated to the girl, who nodded back. "I read... that the ratio male to female sweepers is 1 female to every... Ah" Eve cut her statement short which drew the attention of the other two.

Violet hummed as she was still trying to debate which job to take.

'eenie meenie minie moe catch a tiger by the toe, if he blah blah let him go', she sang in her mind. Her thought were interrupted by a shadow that crept over her. Brown eyes narrowed at a huge muscular bald man that dressed as if he was in a circus and his stage name should have been 'strong man'. Violet mentally giggled.

The girl narrowed her eyes, "can I help you?" she asked dryly, feeling all eyes in the lounge was on her.

As the three watched the scene, whispers among the other sweepers in the lounge began.

"aw man I feel badly for that poor bastard", said one voice

"haha ya! that bitch is gonna kick his ass good"

Someone sighed "when will they learn? Even for a girl, Violet is pretty strong"

"hell ya she is! That chick took down that 16 million bounty in a day!"

"the fuck? no way, that's impossible"

"whatever, the brat is just a show off. There's no way she can take that guy down. He's four times her size!".

"ho ho then you better watch this closely my dude cause that girl puts on a good show"

"yea, they don't call this chick the 'Ringleader' for nothing".

Eve's finger tighten on the glass after hearing comments she didn't like, "she'll win for sure", the little blonde whispered to herself, cheering on Violet silently.

The brunette smiled carelessly at the little girls' words, "Guess we'll just have to watch the show", he said while leaning in his chair, arms folded behind his head.

Sven snickers, "Ringleader?". though she didn't look much. It sounded if as she'd put on a good show, for her sake he would hope.

"run home little girl, this ain't no place for you", ordered the giant man.

Violet snickered "I could say the same thing to you. Don't you have a circus to perform at?" she said mockingly.

Chuckles and laughter echoed throughout the lounge. Her smirk only angered the man all the more. He growled in annoyance at the girl, "what was that?"

"you heard me. Now why don't you make yourself useful and grab me that 2 million bounty up there." she demanded with a sweet child like voice that she knew pissed people off. Which it did. Anger showed all over the man as he watched her with fire like eyes.

"you'll regret your words little girl!" he shouted as he brought his arms up to hammer them down onto Violet in hopes to flatten the girl. Seeing through his actions she took a step back to avoid the attack. What surprised everyone was that the man didn't even get the chance to smash the floor before Violet had bound his hands with the same thick black leather strap that were around her arms moments ago. The man looked at his trapped hands with wide eyes.

"no-no way..." he said in shock.

Violet giggled wickedly, she jumped up onto the man's arm while using her free hand to swiftly snatch the poster she wanted. Leaping over the man, Violet tugged on the strap hard, pulling the male backwards against his will.

With a flick of her wrist, the strap released the man and was around Violet's body again. Eve watched on amazement, it looked as if the girl was making the straps dance around her, flowing with such a soft hand yet with such control. Sven and Train were just as shocked and impressed.

Violet turned to the man with a smirk, "thanks Mr. Strong man. You really helped me out " she said as she waved the poster on her hand, "but you really should control that nasty temper of yours, Pops doesn't like people damaging his building".

Michael gave her a thankful smile that she answered with a nod. Violet thought it would be best for her to leave. She didn't really like causing trouble in the lounge or more Michael. The girl began to walk out of the place, heads turning to follow the female body strut out of sight. Man did she ever feel like a badass now but she had to remain calm. She could laugh and scream all she wanted at home... or outside.

Sven hummed, "that was something huh?", he turned to his two partners to see them both in la la land.

"so cool" the two said in unison with sparkling eyes.

Sven looked at them in grimace. "huh? All the girl did was jump and you think it's so cool?" he said. What kind of partners does he have ? seriously?

"You both know the girl just used simple physics right?". He continued, but the two didn't seem to want to listen.

"Yeah yeah i know but still! how could you not be amazed?" Train said with enthusiasm in his voice. her actions were quick and steps soft. There was no way she was just an ordinary female sweeper. Train could tell she had years of training under her belt. Every single movement went used and un-wasted. Not just that, there was just something about her that naturally drew him to her. Like everyone else, he felt entranced by the mysterious girl names Violet. Yet at the same time, he couldn't help but wonder and question the girl. He was reminded of someone he used to know. A certain woman skilled with a sword in his past life that moved just as swiftly and graceful as this girl displayed. But there's no way they can be related, right?

Eve's eyes remained on the girl even when the figure disappeared. She never saw anything like that. She couldn't even fathom the thoughts or words to describe what she just witnessed. Unconsciously, she got up and her legs began to follow the girl.

Sven looked to see Eve taking off to follow the girl. "Hey Eve wait!", he quickly grabbed his brief case.

"wait up princess", he shouted, following right behind his partners.

Violet couldn't stop giggling to herself on her way out. It was killing her on the inside that she could just start rolling on the ground in laughter. She did pretty well for herself eh? it's been a few weeks and there was yet to be any man or woman to take her down. Not that she's cocky or anything, but she can't help it. Especially with all that training her 'Mother' made her do day in and day out.

It wasn't too long that she hard the thundering of feet steps racing towards her. Forcing down her silliness, she spins around to see what was all the commotion only to have something slam into her. glancing down, she saw a little blonde girl against her. Eve slightly embarrassed about what just happened, she took a step back with a hint of pink on her cheeks. Violet tilted her head, taking in the appearance of a gothic style black dress and long blonde hair. This little girl was going to be the end of Violet.

She smiled at the little girl, "Need something?". her voice was soft and gentle.

"I...I", Eve didn't know how to ask this at all, it was the first time she felt such...nervousness. Violet waited patiently for the girl to gather herself, it's not like she had a curfew anymore.

"I want you to train me!", The blond managed to burst out just as her two male partners existed from the lounge. Both exchanging confused looks at each other at Eves' request.

Violet was surprised, she never thought in a million years that someone would actually want to be trained under her. She was still training even. Eve stared at the ground, already expecting for the mysterious woman to laugh at her request like other adults would. To Eve's luck, it was the opposite. Violet didn't laugh or joke about it.

Instead, the dark haired girl turned shy. Rubbing the back of her head trying to find the proper words. "Ah... how do I put it? hm".

Eve prepared for rejection instantly, it showed on her face.

Violet turned frantic, "No um i mean... ah". she sighed. The girl bent down to become eye level with Eve, placing on hand on her knee and holding out the other to the blonde.

"Sure, but i'm warning you i'm not very good", she said with a smile.

Eve was slightly confused, her eyes darting between Violet and her hand while at the same time taking in the other girls' words. Realizing that her request was not rejected, she softly placed her smaller hand on the slightly bigger one.

"Actually it's the opposite... you're", Eve still trying to pinpoint the word she wanted, "...amazing..".

Violet couldn't help but blush, she giggled shyly "I appreciate that ... um... what's you name?".

"Eve... my name is Eve". she said as they both treated their hands.

"Oh that's a pretty name", Violet commented, causing the blonde to blush.

On the side line, Sven whispered to his partner. "woah... I've never seen Eve blush like that".

Train watched the two girls as they chatted, his yellow eyes remaining on the dark haired girl. Violet made the mistake of glancing behind Eve for her brown eyes to meet with stunning yellow ones. She found heat rising to her cheeks and quickly darted her stare away from the unknown partner.

"Yeah me either", Train said to answer back the green haired man beside him. Sven couldn't help but notice how his two partners were so entranced by this girl, not that he was, but what he felt was more along the lines of being impressed than entranced.

'This might be interesting ... or just one big mess...', was his thought as Eve pulled Violet by the hand towards the two males.

As they got closer, Violet couldn't help but feel nervous. She was used to being alone but for some reason felt this sickly nervous feeling in her stomach. The two men gave the new girl smiles of their own to greet her.

Sven raised his hand to fix his hat, "My apologizes if Eve caused you any problems.", he brought down his hand to shake Violet's, "I'm Sven Vollfied". She shook his hand with a gentle smile as he continued. "And this is my partner, Train Heartnet".

Scanning other male, even though she tried to avoid looking at the brunette Violet was glad she didn't. Spotting something on the man dressed in blue that she knew all too well.

'Thirteen? ah shit'. She mentally swore as she reached out her hand to his. Hesitation filled her insides. this was not something she wanted to get caught up in. Of course she knew all about what happened in Chronos and the chaos between one of the Time Guardians and Creed. What Violet was thankful for as not replacing one of the Numbers. Sure she was excommunicated, but that didn't include those who left Chronos as well right? Besides, she had to admit things were a bit lonely with living on her own. Violet forced herself to calm down, she couldn't allow to expose her real identity and link to Sephiria.

She pushed down all her worries and thoughts. Her lips curled into a darling smile as she shook the warm hand.

"I'm Violet, Violet Orkan".
