"Stay away, fair Daphne! The dragon is vehement and powerful! He could kill you with a single breath of fire!" The

faceless, handsome stranger yelled.

Daphne trembled in fear, keeping a safe distance from the fierce fire-breathing dragon.

"I-I'm scared!" Daphne cried, her voice shaking almost as much as her body.

"I love you, Daphne, and I'll never let anything happen to you!" The faceless, handsome stranger said.

"Won't you please tell me your name? Or at least let me see your face?" Daphne pleaded.

But before he could respond, she watched in horror as the faceless, handsome stranger swung at the dragon,

causing Daphne to gasp as the dragon fought back.

Because only one of them would win.

Unable to watch any longer, she shielded herself from the heat of the dragon's fire and turned around, wincing when

she heard its' roar and the cries of the faceless, handsome stranger.

And then the worst sound of all...

Silence...

Daringly, she turned, wanting to know his fate, and at the same time avoiding it. She could see the huge dragon,

lying lifeless on the ground.

And beside him, the faceless, handsome stranger, just as lifeless.

He was gone...

Tears filled her eyes and blurred her vision of the faceless, handsome stranger. She would never be able to thank him

for risking his life to save her, never know how handsome he truly was, and worst of all... he'd never be able to love

him, and she in return, would never be able to love him.

She began to sob into her hands at the realization that she was destined to be with a man that she was no longer

sure she loved... while the one she loved with all of her heart was gone...

Forever.
