Almost Killed Your Light.

The blinding lights from surrounding amusement rides and food venders made me feel exhilarated. I rarely got to do stuff like this, it made me feel slightly normal than being recruited into the Varia. I glanced to Bell standing beside, he wore his usual blood thirsty grin, his pale skin and blond hair held a sort of illuminating sheen from the lights. He took my arm and dragged me through the crowd towards the Ticket Booth where we exchanged our money for numerous tickets.
The first ride he took me on was a roller coaster, we mostly went on the scariest rides, something I wouldn't do but I learned I actually enjoyed. After an hour of rushing around, Bel-senpai bought himself a Coke while I decided a ride for us.
I pointed at the large round wheel with bright lights attached to it. "Let's go on the Ferris Wheel."
Bel followed where my finger was pointing at and nodded. He dropped his drink into a garbage bin and we hurried into line and waited. After awhile I noticed a lot couples were in line. A few held hands, a pair were hugging, another kissing, and some were actually gazing into each others eyes as if this were their most romantic night ever. And here I was in line with my murderous senpai. Great.
I pulled on his sleeve to get his attention. "We don't have to go on this ride," I said, feeling uncomfortable, but he shook his head as if he were oblivious to everything around him besides the twinkling lights and pop music.
"No. We can go on the Ferris Wheel. It'd be boring if we ride the same rides over and over again." He didn't understand why I didn't want to go on this particular ride.
When we finally got to the front of the line, we gave the girl our tickets and sat down in our own passenger car. Before it moved, I caught her winking at me and knew instantly what she meant. I glanced cautiously at Bel who was staring out the window like an excited child. His smile never faltered as the wheel brought us higher and higher.
"What else do you want to do?" I asked him, trying to ignore the awkward turmoil.
Bel glanced at me, then looked back down. The people seemed like small shadows mingling together. "Buy some alcohol and get wasted," He suggested. It sounded like a good idea, better than the awkwardness I felt. Once the Ferris Wheel went around twice, it stopped and we got out. My legs felt wobbly as if I stood on stilts that were about to snap. Heights never got to me before and Bel seemed to notice this, he grabbed my arm roughly and pulled me through the crowd. He let go of me once I got a hold of myself. I made sure to keep up as we headed towards the gates.
Since we arrived, I've been having these odd feelings that someone's been following us, but I always figured maybe it was just the crowd. I looked back several times, finding nothing out of the ordinary than people intersecting one another.
I ignored it as we walked down several blocks, I passed Bel my money and he quickly ran into the bar. I leaned my back against the cold wall and noticed several people standing by a few bikes; they were smoking and laughing as they waited for their friends. Or most likely loitering. There was a skinny guy wearing a loose grey shirt, black skinny jeans with crazy black hair, he was smiling at me. A lust burned in his reddish brown eyes while he held the waist of a thinner girl wearing a short black dress and chunky boots. She didn't realize he was staring at me and I felt uncomfortable under his hungry gaze.
I endured it until Bel stepped out with a case of beer in his hands. He walked right in the view of the skinny dude and I mentally thanked him for doing so. The same casual smirk was on his lips and a smack of red lipstick on his left cheek. I reached forward, if he didn't have his hands full, Bel wouldn't swatted my hand away, but since he does, I rubbed the lipstick with my fingertip.
"You got something on you." I showed him the rich ruby color staining my finger.
Bel laughed, he set the case down and rubbed the mark off his cheek. "Yeah. Some drunk chick tried making out with me, got my cheek instead." He picked up the case and I followed after down the parking lot towards the dark street. We could still hear the music from the amusement park and people walking past us with excitement in their eyes.
I hummed, trying to imagine someone kissing this lunatic. The very thought brought a strange swell of bitterness, it pulsed and I tried pushing it down, but it continued vibrating along my skin. Tingling my arms and fingers. "Some guy was checking me out." The words fell out and I didn't understand why I said them, there was no reason too, but it came out and now Bel - if I could see beneath the mop of blond hair - his brow would've been raised in question.
"Who?"
The guy checking me out popped up in my head. He was high off something, sweating and looked eager, even though he had a girl cradled in his arm. He stared at me as if I were his next meal, it made me shiver with disgust. "Skinny guy on a bike with some chick," I answered, tucking my hands inside my jeans, trying to find some type of warmth from the cold night air.
Bel nudged my arm with his elbow. "You should've let him cop a feel."
A stabbing pain punctured that bottled pulse of bitterness, I let myself scowl at Bel. "Fuck you."
"Not with you." His insane laughter made a few people that were walking on the side of the street back away. Once we were alone, he made me hold the side of the case.
It was the closest thing to holding hands.
