Quick question, do you want Slade to return later, or any other characters? Don't let them being dead stop you, by the way; it's titled Resurrection for a reason. Plus, there are always the flashbacks. While we're on the topic, do you want any cameos from any characters yet to appear on Arrow? Flash characters, anyone as long as they are in the DC universe. I have the basic plot already, so I can put cameos in several places in the future. Wow, this wasn't so quick…I'll stop talking.
The clicking sound of a turning lock echoed through the Queen Manor. The front door swung open, three figures stood in the doorway. All three were carrying some luggage.
"I'm going upstairs. Roy, thanks for helping us unpack."
"No problem." Roy flicked the lights on.
Thea glanced through the entry, "Home sweet home."
"Speedy, do you want Chinese or Mexican take out?" Oliver asked, walking up the stairs.
Thea's voice was heard through the halls, "Chinese, I just spent several months on Mexican."
Roy and Thea took their time walking through the other hall to Thea's room. "So, you knew this whole time?" Roy asked, he was slow on the news.
"For the umpteenth time, yes! You guys need better disguises! A hood and a mask, really? You run around in a red hoodie and I've seen you with a bow. It doesn't take long to put two and two together."
They reached her room; Thea swung the door open, "I'll give you guys credit though, the voice changers do help."
Unzipping her bags, Thea started moving her clothes back into her closet. Roy unzipped the bags he was carrying and starting doing the same. "Well, what would you do?"
Thea paused, thinking it over, "I like the hoods, but you need bigger masks if you want your secret identity, to I don't know stay secret? I guess a scarf would help. At least something that covers more of your face."
"I'm not running around in a scarf."
Thea rolled her eyes, "Handkerchief?"
"No!"
Another eye roll, "Boys and their fashion statements…"
Laurel and Sin were sitting in a booth at Big Belly Burger. "Sara always said that these were the best burgers in town." Sin recalled.
"Well she's right, but what's better is the milkshakes." Laurel commented before taking a sip of her milkshake.
"So, do you like Agents of Shield so far?" Sin asked.
Laurel moved away from her straw, "Yah, but its kind of weird watching shows about superheroes when you see vigilantes everyday."
Nodding, Sin took a bite out of her hamburger before adding, "Sara said the same thing. Though it was more along the lines, its weird because I wear a mask. She said May was her favorite character, though I think she would have liked Bobby."
Puzzled, Laurel asked, "Bobby?"
Sin blinked, "Oops, that's in season 2…"
"So far, I like Ward." Laurel said, while Sin silently winced.
"Fitz is my favorite, he's funny, well not so much currently but…I have hope."
Laurel, still confused added, "TV shows seem to mess up writing the best characters…"
Nearly doing a spit take, Sin quickly swallowed before gasping for air. "You have no idea how much irony was in that sentence."
Now very confused, Laurel took a brief break from the conversation, and noticed a familiar face in the booth behind Sin next to the bathroom. "I have to go to the bathroom. Be back."
Laurel discreetly made her way to the other booth and sat down in the opposite seat of the other woman.
"Where is she? Where is Sara?" Nyssa asked.
Her tone would sound calm to everyone else, but Laurel could tell Nyssa barely refrained herself from screaming the sentences. They were also not questions, but demands.
"I think Merlyn killed her. He's back in town, and Sara is… dead." Laurel said the last part very quietly.
Nyssa quickly asked, "Where did you bury her?"
Laurel answered in a surprisingly calm tone, "We buried her in the same grave seven years ago."
She guessed the calm tone was a mix of fear and anger. Laurel was still furious with Merlyn, but since she was also scared of Nyssa, all of her anger came out calmer and colder so the assassin wouldn't join in her fury. Most likely to go kill the next poor sap that looked at her the wrong way.
Laurel glanced back at Sin for a moment. Sin still hadn't noticed Laurel's visit with Nyssa. Laurel returned her attention to across the table.
She pulled out her phone, "Felicity, we might have a problem…I kind of called Nyssa. Yes, I know not my best move…yah but it gets worse, she's gone."
Thea felt dizzy, probably from the blood rush. She quickly noticed the world was upside-down, or more accurately she was upside-down.
Noticing the rope around her waist, she looked around, she was in a construction site. Checking the rope more carefully, she noticed she was hung from a metal bar, a part of the building currently under construction.
Blurry, black boots appeared before Thea, "Who are you?" Thea asked. She would have shouted, but her head was throbbing.
"I am Nyssa. Daughter of Ra's al Ghul. Heir to the Demon." She noticed two things: Nyssa's British accent and the 'al Ghul'.
"You're looking for Malcolm Merlyn, aren't you?" Thea asked, with an indistinguishable tone.
"Yes, I'm looking for Merlyn. Don't defend him, my father might be the demon, but yours is the devil."
Trying to ignore the throbbing, Thea continued their conversation, "I won't deny, he's not the best person, and I honestly don't know where he is."
The pain was starting to let up, allowing clearer thoughts to come to Thea, "You're a part of the League, aren't you? Why do you want my father?"
"Your father left the League, created the undertaking, thereby betraying the League of Assassins." Nyssa coldly stated.
"Then, why send you? Wouldn't any random member do?" Thea tried to make small talk.
However, she was really stalling, since Oliver put two tracers in every shoe she owned. Yah, vanishing for five months to live with your evil dad, who happens to be your brother's arch enemy tends to make your brother very paranoid for your well being.
"My father wants him dead for betraying the League. But I was sent because I have another reason. He killed my beloved, Sara Lance."
For the first time, Thea saw a form of emotion on the woman's face. At first, anger was slightly shown, but when she said Sara's name, she seemed almost content and happy?
"I'm sure Sara would be thrilled with this arrangement." Thea sarcastically stated.
Nyssa seemed puzzled, "Who wouldn't want their death to be avenged? She would want justice."
Thea simply stated, "But you're going more for revenge."
The assassin coldly stated, "Revenge is justice."
The younger Queen now had a slightly bored expression, "No offense, but then what? It won't change anything. You'll just be empty, or angrier, or even worse, both. Sara will still be dead."
"Let her go, Nyssa!" A deep voice echoed. It was The Arrow. He had an arrow notched in his bow, pointed at the Demon's heir.
Laurel immediately relocated herself and Sin to her apartment, as soon as the 'beware crazy assassin and sister's girlfriend was on the loose' became a thing.
"I don't get it. Why are we running from her?" Sin asked.
"Short version: Sara spent some time with some interesting people, and now her girlfriend wants revenge on her killer. Which would be fine, but who knows what she'll do to find him."
Sin blinked, "I'm sorry, I didn't catch one bit of that sentence…"
Laurel tried again, "Even shorter version, what ever you do, don't go outside, stay here, and don't answer the door."
Speaking of which, the door just knocked. "One second," Laurel grabbed her gun from the other room.
She swung the door open pointing the gun at the person at the door, "Wait! Don't point a gun at your father!" Quentin shouted, with his hands up.
Laurel wanted to smack herself, 'peep holes were invented for a reason…'
Specifically, so you don't embarrass yourself by nearly decapitating your dad with a shotgun. Or to make sure the pizza guy was actually the pizza guy and not some annoying businessperson trying to sell *insert lame product's name here*.
"Miss Smoak told me to hide here…I've learned not to question her and just do as she says." He stated.
His daughter nodded, "We all learn that lesson pretty fast."
Sin nodded in agreement.
Laurel added, "About that, Nyssa's in town…and she's pretty mad."
"Well, just call Sara and have her come down to calm her crazy assassin girlfriend." He said like it was the most obvious solution in the world.
Laurel quietly said, "Sara can't do that."
A little nervous he asked, "Why not?"
Sin noticed Laurel struggling and joined the conversation, "Sara can't because she's…"
Laurel shakily cut Sin off, "Sara's dead."
Lance was shocked for a brief second before changing to a deadpan tone, "That's not funny."
Sin shook her head, "She's telling the truth."
"I'm sorry, Dad."
There was a pain in his chest, it in his heart, but not from an attack, "No, no, no, we just got her back!" He collapsed in a nearby chair.
"She's in a better place. I'm sorry I kept this from you."
In a mixture of anger, confusion, and grief he asked, "How long?"
Laurel quietly answered, "It's been almost two weeks."
"Two weeks! You kept this from me for two weeks?"
"Yes."
"Why, why didn't you let me mourn my own daughter's death?" He slightly screamed.
"I was worried, your heart…I couldn't loose you right after Sara! I didn't want to be left alone!"
His anger melted away as he ran to hug his remaining daughter, "Sweetheart, I'm not leaving. You'll never be alone, you have friends here for you. Cindy, Miss Smoak, and Oliver…even though he's not someone I love to see you with."
"Don't worry, that's not happening again. Ever."
Sin awkwardly stood in the background, "Well, Sara, your family is filled with saps, but they're pretty cool saps."
Roy awoke, and he found himself on Thea's floor. Thea! He remembered being knocked out and hearing her scream, when Nyssa showed up in the Queen Manor earlier.
However, a different archer was now present. "Merlyn." Roy flatly said.
"Wow, that's one of the warmest greetings I've gotten in the last few days."
Roy ignored the comment, "Thea, she was taken by Nyssa!"
Merlyn remained calm, "I'm aware."
However Roy was slightly annoyed, "What are you going to do?"
Malcolm was still calm, "I can't do anything, the moment I go there, Nyssa will kill me. However, you can do something."
Merlyn paused, "First, I'd like to know what your intentions are with my daughter."
He blinked, "Is now really the time?"
A smile appeared on Malcolm's face, "Yes."
Dumbfounded Roy managed to get out, "Some father you are, why should I answer?"
"I know I'm not father of the year, but still. I'd like to know what my future son-in-law has planned. By the way, an anniversary tip: No matter what she says, pay the bill."
It didn't sound like a request to Roy. He wanted to remain on topic, mostly because he wanted Thea safe and this conversation was getting very awkward.
Plus, the idea of going over dating tips with Malcolm Merlyn was scary. Actually, wedding tips. Or was it all of the above. The bottom line was when you need advise from you ex-girlfriend's psycho, evil father is the time when you realize you're in over your head in the relationship.
"What can I do?"
"I need a favor."
Not to say pointing an arrow at someone's head isn't a very effective way to gain their cooperation. No, that normally does the job for Oliver. The thing is normally doesn't mean 100% of the time. Especially when the person you're threatening is Nyssa al Ghul.
So Nyssa instead notched her own arrow, while Oliver fired. He missed when she ducked and fired at him. Stepping to the side, hers missed too.
Oliver fired two more, but missed again when Nyssa started to climb up the construction. The Arrow joined her on their jungle gym.
Three arrows whizzed by Oliver, but one cut his cheek. Sighing, he launched more arrows, and more missed. However, he had Nyssa cornered.
"Give up!" Nyssa, however, slightly smiled. She fired one more arrow at the green hood. It missed when he ducked, but cut a rope. The severed rope dropped several sand bags on Oliver's head, rendering him unconscious.
In the background, Thea began to scream, despite the headache, "Ollie! Please, be alright! Oliver!" Her screams continued as Nyssa grabbed the Arrow's phone.
A numbered was dialed, "Hello, Felicity Smoak. MIT class of '09. No, you're boyfriend is fine, honey, don't be in denial everyone can see it…Yes his sister is safe too, but for how long depends on you. It's simple the Queens for Malcolm Merlyn."
"Let them go!" This time it was a red hoodie, Roy.
Nyssa rolled her eyes, "I don't mind a fight, but I just want Malcolm Merlyn. No one else needs to be hurt."
Roy slackened his bowstring, but left the arrow notched, "Merlyn left Starling, as soon as he heard you were in town he took off. He asked me a favor before, he asked me to deliver a message." He tossed a phone to Nyssa, who caught it with ease.
The phone had a video, which she hit play. Merlyn was one the screen. "This quarrel is between me and the League. Not my family, not anyone else. Ra's please keep it this way. I know you are honorable, so show everyone else, don't involve innocent lives, like a coward."
She tossed the phone back and disappeared, "Does anyone else hate when they do that?" Roy asked.
Oliver had texted Laurel if it was safe to leave home. Her dad returned to work, but she could tell he would be giving her the silent treatment for a while. She needed to let off some steam; more specifically she needed to hit something.
Luckily for Laurel, she had started boxing lessons a few days ago, with Ted Grant as her instructor. Sin, however, was not so lucky because she was holding Laurel's punching bag.
Laurel's punches were in a simple rhythm, right, right, left. Right, right, left, and so on. However, the rhythm was broken when a voice interrupted, "Miss Lance, it would help more if you turned your hips more. It's where all the power comes from."
Startled, Laurel said nothing, but did as she was instructed. Sadly for Sin, this just made her job harder. "Laurel, can I let go please?"
"Right, sorry."
Noticing Sin, Nyssa said her catchphrase, "I am Nyssa. Daughter of Ra's al Ghul. Heir to the Demon."
Sin, unphased replied, "Cindy, but most people call me Sin."
"Nice to meet you, Cindy. Sara used to talk about you. She said you have a lot of energy. Also she made me watch Agents of Shield with her. By the way, I think my favorite character is Simmons."
"Cool. I like Fitz."
Laurel couldn't believe what she was hearing, 'I must be socially inept' she thought.
Awkwardly she added, "I like Ward."
Nyssa exchanged a glance with Sin, "She's not very far, is she?"
Sin rolled her eyes, "Nope, we just saw The Well."
"That explains so much."
Puzzled, Laurel asked, "He doesn't die, right?"
Sin and Nyssa both looked like they were going to facepalm, "If only," both of them stated.
Laurel shouted, "Spoiler alert!"
Sin looked to her left and noticed Nyssa was gone, "Does she always do that?"
Nyssa stared at the pool in the center of the room. It was the main room in Nanda Parbat, her father's Lazarus pit.
As the heir, she could use it when she became the next demon head. Sara was right, she was a goody-two-shoes daughter. Was being the operative word.
Nyssa had made a rule for herself during Sara's first year in the League. Even though she loved Sara, she wouldn't betray her father's trust. Until now.
By time she was allowed to use the pit, it would be several years from now. She was fully aware, as magical as the pit was it had limits. One couldn't be brought back after a full year since their death. Over time, the pit would lose its affects on a continuous user.
She had no time to wait. Therefore, she had no choice, if it came down to Sara's life or her father's trust; Nyssa always knew which she would choose.
It was just like Sara had once said, "Rules are like paper clips. They hold things together, but they're fun to bend out of shape, or sometimes necessary to bend to solve other problems."
Nyssa sat there and waited. It had been a few minutes, Sara still wasn't back. That worried Nyssa. 'She's been dead for two weeks, the stupid pit should be working by now.'
One thought entered her mind, 'What if Sara doesn't want to be alive again?' Would she want to return to her life, filled with pain, but also love and happiness? Where the nightmares could still haunt her?
When Nyssa had first met Sara there was a light to Sara's eyes that had started to vanish during her years in The League. When she first met Ra, Sara laughed, it was innocent laughter born from nervousness. It was the moment Nyssa fell for her.
She knew that laugh made everything worth it. Or it could be her smile. Yes, that was it. For Nyssa, Sara's smile would melt everything away, it was the only light in the darkness Nyssa grew up in.
But sadly, the smiles became more rare as the years went by. The innocent laugh was never there; sometimes she left out a nervous one. The warm smile disappeared slowly. She denied it to Laurel, but Sara's sister was right. Nyssa had shown Sara the darkness.
It was because of her, she stopped laughing, stopped smiling, and the nightmares begun. It was because of her, Sara had blood on her hands. Sara's light began to fade and now Nyssa was left alone in the darkness once again.
Why would Sara come back to her? She left The League already and nearly killed herself to make sure she wouldn't return. Even when Sara did return after the Mirakuru incident, she lied to her family about it being her choice so they wouldn't get involved or possibly killed.
It was a deal Ra's made her take, but Nyssa was still responsible. Sara was right. Ra's did listen to her, she could have got Ra's to let Sara stay in Starling, but she didn't. She just wanted her little bird back.
She did what Sara always told her would never be necessary. What she begged Nyssa to never do. What she promised to never do. Nyssa had put her little bird in a cage. Why would Sara ever return to her? Return to the darkness?
Nyssa was pulled out of her thoughts by coughing, "The Lazarus pit is not something you want to swallow, it tastes like barf."
"Sara?"
"I'm here, Nyssa."
Honestly I think Oliver should have lost his fights against Nyssa. She does have her whole life of experience to his approximant seven years. Lastly, Sara's back! Well sort of, she's going to be a little unstable, but she'll eventually be back to the Sara we all know and love. I've read things online that said it would be great if Sara came back, but more antagonistic. I'm not going to do that since I like Sara as she is, we kind of saw that with the Vertigo version, and she wasn't dead long enough for her to go that crazy. I always assumed Sara lied about wanting to go back to the League since it's OOC and makes her character development all for nothing.
