Bella patiently waited for Edward at his Volvo. She was just looking around when she caught sight of Riley, he was walking towards her direction when Jessica stopped him. Bella felt a surge of annoyance, where was Edward? She could really use him right now for numerous reasons. Firstly, he could quench her curiously by telling him what the conversation was that was taking place between Riley and Jessica. Secondly, if he was here on time she wouldn't be witnessing this conversation taking place and she wouldn't be so curious. Thirdly, if Edward was with her then she could use him to make Riley jealous like Riley was doing to her with Jessica right now. WHAT WAIT! Bella couldn't believe the last thought that had passed through her mind. She didn't even like Riley; she could barely tolerate him, so why would she be jealous. She reminded herself to eat lunch as clearly the lack of appetite was affecting her brain.
"It's times like this I REALLY wish I knew what you were thinking. You look so deep in thought not being able to read your mind is like torture" Edward whispered into her ear as he crept up behind her causing her to jump.
"Don't do that Edward!" Bella scolded, blushing red as Riley caught the incident out the corner of his eye and began approaching after his conversation with Jessica appeared to have reached a conclusion.
"Oh no, Bella get in the car" Edward groaned. When she stayed rooted to the spot he shrugged his shoulders. "Thought as much, I wish you would listen once in a while."
"Hey Bella" Riley said, opting to keep it short and sweet.
"Hey, what's up?" Bella responded hoping her blush had gone by this point.
"Okay you've made your point Riley. Now what do you want?" Edward demanded.
"Nothing from you, I came to talk to Bella. I was on my way over before you arrived actually but I got distracted by Jessica. Anyway Bella seeing as we are partners in History class and all I was wondering if you wanted to write our reports together tonight on the documentary we watched in class?" Riley asked.
"No she doesn't" Edward seethed.
"What. Um no. Don't answer for me Edward. Um no. I mean yes. Come over to mine tonight. Say 6?" Bella retaliated.
"Okay see you at 6." Riley smirked and Edward as he passed and got into his car and drove away.
Edward stared at Bella for a moment with a look of disbelief and then got into the driver's seat of the Volvo and slammed the door shut and revved the engine.
"Shall I walk?" Bella asked tentatively.
"I don't see why not, you seem intent on doing stupid and reckless things" Edward seethed. "Get in."
Once Bella got in, Edward slammed his foot onto the gas pedal and began weaving through traffic.
"Look Edward, I know you're mad and you didn't want me near him but you can trust me. I'm not stupid, I can handle myself, I mean he's my partner. What do you expect me to do?" Bella questioned him.
"Do what you like Bella. Don't expect me to be here tonight to watch over you" Edward said in a monotone voice void of emotion.
"You're not coming in?" Bella asked as he stalled the car in front of her house and she got out. "You always come in."
"No" Edward replied as he drove away, leaving Bella stood on the street.
