~365 Days~

I stood in the rain, the rain drenching every part of me, while looking down at a grave. 'Her' grave.

The grave of my first and last love. Her sweet smile, her beautiful lavender locks, her pale delicate skin. Now gone...

Why... why did everything turn out this way?

"Another failure..." I thought as I walked to a nearby park. I sat down on a bench. "How many times has it been..." I sighed.
I tilted my head to the front and let my bangs cover my eyes when heard a voice. "Hey... Are you crying?"
I quickly looked up to see a girl with purple hair tied in low ponytails. She wore a simple white dress and was holding a white umbrella.
I didn't notice that i was crying, so I quickly wiped the tears.

She closed her umbrella and put it on the side of the bench. "What happened?" She asked with a smile.
I began telling her everything. After she listened for a good while, she just smiled and said, "Well you just need to keep doing your best!"
We talked about many things. Most of which she just listened. "Ah, I have to go now!" She suddenly spoke. She stood up, grabbed the umbrella, opened it and started walking away.
She turned to look at me halfway, and said, "Will you be here again tomorrow..?" I just nodded. "Good then!" she smiled and continued walking away.
After she was gone from my view, I realized I never got to know her name...

She came to the park everyday, listening to me talking about my life. I had asked her about her name but she never said anything and instead, always changed the subject to the one we were talking. She would smile every single time and acts like a kid. Like she never knew anything about this world. When I asked about herself, she would always smile and told me to continue with my stories. Her smile is like the sun, shining brightly without a care in the world.

One day, she didn't come to the park. I waited for her the whole day, until late in the night, but she never came. so I went home. A few days passed with me waiting for her in the park, on that bench, but she never came. After a week, she finally came, I asked her what had happened but she just smiled and said that she was busy in her own home. She also looked a little paler than usual, but she still shrugged away my questions with the usual smile and questions about the stories.

After a while, she said that the one week of her absence was just nothing to worry about and she was back to her own self. And she finally told me something about herself. It is that her birthday was on the day we met, and she was glad to have me as her first friend who would told her stories about themselves.

It happened again. She didn't come to the park again. I waited for her everyday. Days turn to weeks, and weeks turn to months. Finally, 3 months passed and she finally came back to the park. She looked a lot paler and skinnier than the last time I saw her. 'Something feels off...' I thought, staring at her. She caught me staring at her and giggled. "What are you staring at me for? I'm fine!" she laughed it off. I can't help but worry about her, It's like she's keeping something secret from me...

I had no more stories to tell her so I took her around for a walk since there is a festival today. She seems very happy and told me she had never went to a festival before and is very excited to go. She was practically running around in the festival, checking out every store there is. She almost got lost in the crowd many times and just laughed it off when I told her not to run off again. I bought her many things from the festival for her to bring home. "By the way, I never seem to get your name..." She asked me. "Elsword." I said, "Hmm... Elsword huh? what a great name!" She giggled. She spun around for a few times, "Thank you, Elsword!" She smiled and kissed my cheek, then walked back a little. I blushed. "I got to go now, thank you for today!" She waved at me and walked away. I touched the spot where she kissed me. I smiled.

"Almost a year has passed since I met her..." I said to myself. She had become paler everytime she came back from her absence. But it never bothered me. Because... I think i have fallen for her... "On her birthday, I will..." "On whose birthday?" She said. I almost fell down from the bench. She was smiling at me, and sat down on the bench. "Elsword... umm..." She started. "What is it?" I asked. "If I were unable to come here for a long time... Will you still wait for me?" She asked. "Of course! I'll even wait forever for you!" She smiled and stood up, "Then... I'll see you tomorrow!" She waved at me and walked away. I could have sworn I saw tears on the corner of her eyes...

Today, is her birthday. She didn't come to the park today. I just waited for her while holding a tiny box, which was a present for her. Somebody else came into the park, it was a woman. When she saw me she walked over to me, and said, "Are you Elsword?" I just nodded. "Do you need me or anything?" I asked. "Can you please come with me?" she suddenly said, a hint of urgency in her voice. I just agreed and followed her to a... hospital? She stopped in front of a room and said, "Please, go ahead." So I went inside.

Somebody was lying down on the bed, machines connected to every part of their body. It was horrible. I walked closer and saw familiar purple hair. It was her. she was lying down on the bed, her breathing very weak. I walked to the side of her bed. "El...sword...?" She spoke softly. "You... came..." I held her hand. "You know... I was always sickly... Always staying inside the hospital... The doctors said my illness... is incurable... One day... They said I have only a whole year left... So They let me out..." Tears began forming on the corner of her eyes. "The first place... I wandered off to... was that park... Where I met you..." She coughed twice. "You told me... stories about your life... A life... I couldn't experience... You... took me to the festival... the first time in my life... I had so much fun..." She coughed more and blood splattered. "Don't talk anymore!" I shouted. "Even though my life is ending... I didn't regret it... I..." Cough. More blood. "I... Love you... Elsword. "Don't speak anymore!" My tears are already flowing. "Ah... I realized... I never told you my name..." She smiled. "My... Name... Is... Ai...Sh...a..." The hand I held went limp. She closed her eyes. Machines sound. People came in. I could only stare at her face. She was smiling. Her last smile. I loved her. Now she was gone.

I stared at her grave. The rain still pouring heavily on me.
If only I had noticed it sooner...
She was crying.
I never knew her name, until the end.
I had lost my one and only love.
