Trouble
"Tyler's been questioning where you've been lately." Elena and Caroline sat on the couch binge watching 'Friends' before Caroline had to leave for her shift.
"I've been working." She told Elena. "I don't want to see him."
"Caroline. You can't just walk away from a guy like that. He's crazy obsessed with you, girl. I know you –"
"He hit me, Elena. And Damon hits you too. Don't deny it."
"They're the best we're ever going to get, babe."
"No Elena, that's the best you'll ever get with that attitude." Caroline was two seconds away from knocking out her friend. She loved Elena, but she couldn't see past her demons.
"Look at you, Caroline. You're a fucking stripper. You have a degree and you work for dollar bills. Believe me when I tell you that they're the best we got."
Caroline stood up deciding that she didn't want to hear anymore of it.
"I love you Elena, but I can't sit back and watch you get manipulated by him anymore. I don't want to be involved with that crew any longer. That's not what I want my life to be."
"He's coming to see you tonight." She warned her. "I tried to tell him not to, but he insisted on it. He's all crazy jealous because he thinks one of those high class business men with an expensive suit has your eye."
"I assure you, they do not. How is he even getting in the building?"
"False name." She shrugged. "I told you babe, once you're in, you're in. He's not going to stop fighting for you until he's dead."
"You call me Elena if you ever need anything, but I promise that I'm done with that crew. I'm done with that life."
She showed up at a half hour before her shift started.
She was apprehensive because Tyler was possibly making an appearance as well as Klaus.
He always showed his face when she was here.
And if Klaus fired Tyler and they were both in the same building, this wouldn't end pretty.
She had to warn someone.
"Alaric?" She called out to her manager.
"Yeah, Care?"
"I think we might have a problem." She tried to approach this as innocently as she could.
"You remember that guy I had an audience with the other night?" Caroline bit her lip.
"Where are you going with this Caroline?"
"Well my ex got fired by him the other day. And I found out that my ex is going to come looking for me tonight… here. And if that man is here I do –"
"Stay here, Caroline. I've got it under control." Alaric silently cursed to himself.
Caroline began to protest. "You didn't even let me finish my sentence."
"That man you had an audience with owns the joint, Caroline. Believe me when I say that I am taking care of it."
Caroline's eyes widened.
He OWNED the place?
He watched her for weeks. He sat in the back like a huge mystery for weeks and now she just learned that he owned this place?
Her mind couldn't even process what was going on. All that mattered was that she needed to get on stage and she needed to make money.
She didn't care how she had to do it.
She quickly changed her clothes into a white lace lingerie set. Once her name was called she quickly made her way onto the stage.
She waited for the music to start before she started to dance.
She knew he was watching her.
Caroline felt him watching her and she was sure as hell going to give him a show for lying to her.
She slowly began her routine and within seconds spotted Tyler in the corner. He had a cigarette hanging from his mouth and he was shooting dangers at her.
Caroline ignored it.
She slowly worked her way up and down the pole receiving a generous amount of money from the men in the front.
Quickly, she undid her bra allowing her breasts to be released from their confinements.
Klaus watched from afar. Once again ready to kill any man that kept looking at her like she was a piece of meet.
"Mr. Mikaelson?" His assistant came up to him.
He held up his hand. "Not now."
He slammed his hands against the table. She was going for her panties.
He had to stop this now.
"Shut this shit down. I don't pay that girl for this." His assistant looked baffled. "You heard me, NOW."
He stood up and walked straight to the back of the dressing room, but he ran into Alaric first.
"Have they told you?" Alaric looked at him with worry.
"Told me what?" He narrowed his eyes at him.
"That Lockwood kid is here. He's watching Caroline."
"Fuck." He decided that he would take care of Caroline later. Lockwood would be a bigger issue. "Get the bouncers to get rid of him."
Alaric nodded and left the dressing room.
Klaus turned around to a very furious and very naked Caroline entering the room. He tried to keep his eyes on her face. It was nearly impossible.
Fuck it.
Lockwood could wait.
"You!" She pointed at him. "You lied to me!"
"How did I lie to you, babe?"
"Don't call me babe! You don't know me like that." She furiously stormed passed him. "You didn't tell me you owned this place!" She screamed at him. "And my act was cut short for the second time this week. Now I will be behind on my bills for two months." She quickly wrapped a robe around her body.
"I told you to come work for me." He told her calmly.
"Apparently, I already do, asshole!"
"Caroline. Please calm down." He tried to soothe her.
"No Nik. I will not calm down!"
Klaus remained silent.
He was shocked.
She only knew him as Mr. Mikaelson. He had never told her to call him Nik. She did in the past, but he knew that slowly but surely he was getting through to her.
"Don't stare at me like that." She crossed her arms.
"I – I-"
"And now I have a migraine. So if you excuse me, I have an ex waiting for me outside who probably wants to kill me because –"
"You're not leaving with him." He told her.
"I'm not leaving with you either."
"You're leaving with someone and I can sure as hell tell you right now that he is not that person."
"He worked for you, you know." She quickly began to pack her things up around her vanity. "He came to see me the other day. He told me that he worked for you."
"I know he did. I fired him."
"And he's pissed."
"He was stealing from my company, Caroline."
She held up her hands in defense. "I'm not defending him. I'm just saying what he told me."
"Don't leave with him." He pleaded with her. "I'll be honorable and take you home straight home. I just don't trust that guy."
"That makes two of us." She shrugged picking up her bag. He followed her towards the back exit.
"Why do you own a place like this anyway?"
He shrugged. "Saw the profit."
But that wasn't true at all.
He bought it because of her. Everything he did was because of her. And as soon as she was out of the strip club, he would sell the place.
But for right now all he was focusing on was the new friendship that he was forming with the beautiful woman from his past.
