Chance 4: He Hadn't Wanted It To Happen
~ It Can Be Done! ~

Midorikawa opened his eyes when he felt himself nodding off. The boy looked around himself and realized that he was in hospital. But why? He didn't remember any occasions when they had went to hospital. Not even during that time such thing had happened.

So what exactly was going on?

Just as he was standing up for a walk, Midorikawa saw Akai walking to him while holding Kin in her arms. The girl, whose eyes were swelled as a sign of crying, smiled at him and showed the sleeping little girl. "She is alright. They gave her pills and her fever immediately dropped. We were just in time. Had we waited any longer and her life could've been in danger."

Midorikawa sighed of relief. So it was because of Kin sudden fever that they were in hospital. But how come he didn't remember something like this happening. It was like he was trying to change things in a past which he himself didn't know. This was getting rather strange.

"Is the kid okay?" the greenette heard Hirotos voice yelling as the boy ran to them. He greeted both of them and then glanced at Kin, who woke up as soon as she felt the presence of the red-haired man. She immediately begged to get into his arms.

Hiroto let out a laugh and took Kin into his lap. The girl started to babble and played with his hair. "She's such lively kid. So what was wrong?" Hiroto turned to Akai. The girl looked down and squeezed her fists. She calmed down only when Midorikawa took hold of her hand.

With a glance at the boy who kindly smiled at her, she then turned to Hiroto. "It seems that she caught a high fever. Any longer and her life could've been in danger." the girl explained and Midorikawa could feel through the hand he was holding that her whole body trembled. She must be relived to the point that she would like to cry.

Hiroto stared at Kin for a while. "Don't make us worry little Miss." he then teased the girl and she kept babbling.

"Hi-loto!" she laughed.

The trio froze.

"Wait Kin what did you just say?" Hiroto was the first one to recover.

The young child turned and pointed at him with her finger. "Hi-loto."

"It's true… she just said my name! She just frigging said my name," Hiroto celebrated and gave a light kiss on Kin cheek which made the girl to giggle. She then tried to copy him and kiss his cheek but messed up and ended up taking a peck on his lips.

"That was…" Midorikawa tried to hold up his breath.

"Kins' first kiss…" Akai continued after him. The mood suddenly got heavy and Hiroto laughed desperately while the two 'parent figures' were emitting dangerous aura. They stared at him with murderous looks.

"What is this?" Akais soft voice spoke between deep breaths. "She just learned to say, Mama, Papa and Aoki. Now she can say Hiroto as well… and you… just stole her first kiss." for some reason Akais' maternal instinct woke up at that moment and she snatched Kin away from Hiroto.

Glaring at the boy she continued. "You dare to do anything to her and I…"

Hiroto was in deep shit. Everyone could see and feel it.

"Okay, I guess it's time for us to head back home. I bet that Aoki is waiting for us." Midorikawa interrupted the girl, saving Hiroto from the great pinch. Akai calmed down and immediately agreed with the greenette.

Hiroto flashed a relived smile at the boy. Midorikawa really had saved him from getting beaten up by the black-haired girl. Midorikawa answered to him with a smirk. He was now in depth to him and Midorikawa surely wanted Hiroto to pay him back.

Without any further episodes, the group headed to Midorikawa's apartment where another storm was waiting for them. It really was such an unlucky day for everyone.

-OO-

"We're home." Midorikawa yelled when he opened the door. He let Akai and Hiroto in and then closed the door behind them. As no one answered, the trio expected the apartment to be empty. Akai and Midorikawa glanced at each other.

"Aoki is most likely not home yet." the black-haired girl wondered. But where could he be then? He would always inform her if he was to stay at friends' house and not come home straight away. Midorikawa shrugged.

Hiroto made his way to the living room and stopped all of a sudden. "You." the duo heard him mumbling and immediately walked to the boy.

"What it is?" Midorikawa asked, but got his answer when he saw a dark green-haired woman together with a light blue-haired boy sitting on the sofa. The boy had his head lowered and his whole body shivered as he sobbed in the woman's chest. She was caressing his head and tried to calm him down.

"Hitomiko-san?" Akai questioned when she saw the green-haired woman. Hitomiko turned to her and bowed lightly as a greeting. Akai answered to her by doing the same. After that she turned her attention to her younger brother who was still in Hitomikos' arms.

"Aoki, what's wrong? Why are you crying? Did something happen?" everyone could hear worry in her voice when she gave Kin to Midorikawa and ran to comfort her younger brother. She tried to embrace him, but the little boy avoided her. He kept leaning closer to Hitomiko.

"It's all your fault…" he sobbed.

"Eh?"

"You and Ryuu-nii didn't come to watch my match." the boy then yelled.

Midorikawa's eyes widened. Wait, what match was he talking about? Back in the days, Aoki hadn't picked up any sport he was in the art club. So exactly what sport was he playing? The greenette turned to look at Akai, who had frozen up.

"The soccer match." the girl gasped, as if she finally remembered. She then turned to Midorikawa. The boy jumped a little of this sudden action and just smiled happily. Why on earth he had no clue of what was going on? He couldn't understand it.

"Yes! Aoki had his first soccer match but you didn't come to watch it! I'm very angry!" the younger boy started to rebel against his older sister. Akai looked lost. She had completely forgotten about the soccer match.

"I'm very sorry, Aoki. Kin was very sick and we had to take her to hospital." the girl tried to remain calm and explain the situation to him. He knew very well that the soccer match had been very important to her younger brother but the life of their youngest one had been in first place.

"I don't care!" Aoki continued rebelling. "At least one of you could've come! You love Kin much more than you love me!" Midorikawa started to wonder, why neither one of them had been in the match. The boy was making sense, one of them could've go and watch the game. Why they didn't… that shall remain a mystery.

"But if we didn't take Kin to hospital then she could've died." Akai went against her brother. Midorikawa nor anyone else in the room had ever seen her voice racing up so many tones.

"It would've better if she just died!" the bluette sulked, not completely understanding the meaning of his own words.

"A-O-K-I!" Akai yelled in a volume never heard from her before. Everyone in the room stared at her with widened eyes. Kin broke into tears from the startle and Midorikawa did his best to calm her down. Akai gasped for air and then continued. "She's your own sister, don't dare to talk about like that."

Aoki stared at his older sister, shining pearls appearing into corner of his eyes. "I hate you Nee-san!" he then yelled and ran out of apartment. Akai stared him going and fell on her knees. She then burst to tears.

Midorikawa was lost. What he was supposed to do, when all of the Kurowadais were crying? He looked at Hiroto to get some help. The red-head shook his head. This was something only he could do. The greenette sighed. So it had come to this.

He walked to his friend and gave Kin to him. As soon as the red-haired girl was in Hiroto's arms, she opened her eyes. A wide smile appeared on her face and she started to babble happily. Midorikawa smiled. No matter how much he didn't want to admit, the fact was that Kin was extremely attracted to Hiroto.

Now he had Akai and Aoki to deal with.

He went to the girl and knelt next to her. "It's okay Akai. I will surely bring Aoki back. I promise." he said comforting the girl. Akai looked at him, tears running down her cheeks as her whole body trembled. The look on her eyes was begging.

"Wil-"

She wasn't able to say anything more. Midorikawa had already pressed his lips against her and kissed her passionately. When he finally broke the kiss, he smiled with a blushing face. "I promise." After that he stood up and ran after Aoki, hiding the embarrassment.

After recovering from the shock Hiroto chuckled. His friends face had been completely red. That was quite blunt of him, suddenly kiss the girl whose hand he was too shy to hold. Akai had frozen to that place, her face slowly turning redder and redder as she finally realized what had just happened.

Midorikawa breathed loudly as he ran while searching for Aoki. He was glad that he had sometime to gather his feelings together. He still didn't get just why he had kissed her all of a sudden. She just had been so beautiful, and something suddenly happened in his head, and the next thing he knew he was already kissing her. Argh, why oh why?

As he was still trying to recover from the shock and embarrassment, Midorikawa arrived at a little park which was located near Aoki's school. They had visited the place often and it had become one of Aoki's favorite places. Midorikawa thought it would be good to start searching from there.

And he had been right. In no time he found Aoki. The little boy was sitting in the swings while crying out loud. The greenette walked to him and sat on the swing next to Aoki. The little boy raised his head to look at the older boy. After that he returned his glance back to the ground.

"You know, that wasn't very nice of you." Midorikawa started the conversation. He tried to keep his voice calm, so that it wouldn't sound like he was scolding him.

Aoki pursued his lips in anger. "But it was Nee-sans fault. She didn't come to watch my soccer match. Kin was more important to her than me…" the little boy started to sob and his voice trembled.

Midorikawa glanced at him and sighed. This kid was always so troublesome. "You and Kin are both important to Akai. Kins' life was in danger, if we hadn't gone to the hospital she could've died... and that would make Akai very, very sad."

He didn't know how to explain the whole situation to the little kid, especially when he clearly didn't have a whole picture of it, but Midorikawa did his best. After all he had a trump card.

"Akai would've been so sad that she'd cried day after day… And didn't your mother said 'to make sure that she won't cry'. You would've broken your promise with mother." hopefully this worked.

"And then Okaa-san would be angry… because my selfishness made Kin to disappear and Nee-san to cry!" the little boy started to bawl even more. Big tears, just like pearls, rolled down his cheeks. "I made Nee-san cry!"

Midorikawa comforted the kid and lend Aoki his chest. Just as the little kid was finally calming down, they heard someone yelling for them. When Midorikawa looked up, he saw Akai running towards them. "Look, your sister is here. Go and apologize to her." he said gently and helped Aoki up.

He dried the kids' wet eyes and then stood up, giving support to the bluette. Akai stopped and knelt down. She hugged Aoki and burst into tears. She had been so worried about him. Aoki was still silent.

"Akai."

Akai was surprised when she heard him calling her first name. "Yes," she slowly answered, looking into Aoki's face.

The little kid blushed hard. "I'm sorry… I will never do that again… I will never make Nee-san cry again." Aoki apologized with sincere look in his eyes. They glowed like little stars when Akai stared right at them.

Akai smiled gently. "Apology accepted." then she added. "I'm also sorry that we couldn't come to watch your first match."

"Then just come to the next one!" Aoki laughed.

After that the siblings shared a cute sibling moment. All the anger between them had disappeared. Akai started to laugh loudly when Aoki's stomach rumbled. "I guess it would be better if we go and have some dinner." she said.

Midorikawa was about to follow the siblings when he suddenly heard familiar voice speaking. "Such a touching scene. Once again you've done well." he knew very well what the appearance of this person meant.

"Let's go then." the little blonde kid smiled. He took hold of Midorikawa's hand and suddenly a strong air force surrounded them.

"But I have something to ask!" the greenette tried to shout over the wind. He really wanted to know more about this case. It was different from the previous ones, nothing like this had happened in his life. So how excatly they had arrived at this scenario and what would the next one be. He had so many guestions.

It was as if the little kid didn't hear him. He just smiled kindly and started to glow.

"You'll know the answer to your question soon enough." the little kid then whispered right before their disappeared.

So he had heard Midorikawa after all…

A/N: Okay, I kinda rushed and screwed up with the ending, eh? But I do hope that you enjoyed it. Ahaha... What case it next time?
