Summary: The souls of the deceased brides still linger in the Sakamaki household. They wait for the day to get their revenge and save another poor soul from becoming just like them. As Kanato steals Yui's life away from her in the room filled with wax figurines the souls put their plan into action.

The Revenge of Past Souls

Subaru stood in front of a window overlooking the gardens. He could not help but feel that the night so far was oddly peaceful. He had woken from a nap, his body still feeling the heaviness of sleep as he leaned against the wall. "Maybe it was the full moon," he wondered to himself. Then again the manor was oddly silent at the moment. The quietness allowed him to drift off into his own suffocating thoughts.

He could feel the knife in his pocket, the blade oddly cold even through the fabric of his clothes. He wondered what would happen if he gave it to Yui. Would the human girl eagerly try to stab him, to kill him and try to escape?

He could only see her refusing, her kindness still intact after her ordeals with him and his brothers. What he really questioned was would he let her do it? Would he allow the human to try and kill him? End his existence that should never have existed? Even if he felt lethargic, he knew he could still out maneuver the young woman before she even moved to touch him.

His thoughts quickly shattered as he heard the sound of someone stomping from the hall above him. Subaru sniffed the air smelling the sweet scent of Yui near. A door opened and slammed shut. "Yui!," she called out down the hall, her voice dripped with malice intent.

Subaru narrowed his eyes in confusion. Never had he heard such a tone in Yui's voice and why would she call out her own name? It made no sense.

There was silence for a moment before she called out her own name once more, only for her to start stomping again. Subaru breathed out a puff of air in annoyance. He could hear her coming down the stairs, coming closer to his location. He could also hear Laito's playful voice calling out to her. Anger began to brew in his mind as all thoughts of his own contemplated death left him and changed to that of Yui's and Laito's.

Subaru soon saw the girl rapidly charging down the hall. Her body posture stiff and her chest heaving as she gulped down breaths of air. She looked almost wild as her neat hair was now in disarray, her arms squeezing Kanato's teddy bear tight to herself, as her pink eyes looked around her with a deadly gaze.

Laito walked only a few paces behind her. Running his own commentary, trying to rile the girl up further as she plowed ahead. He had a skip in his step and sing-song quality in his voice. Subaru instantly knew his half brother was rather pleased with the situation.

Subaru's anger finally boiled over when Yui turned around to Laito to snap at his latest comment. "Shut up!" He pounded his fist into the wall. The window shuttered with the impact.

Both Laito and Yui stilled. Yui turned to face him as Laito looked over curiously. Subaru breathed in deeply. The anger was slowly receding as the two were stuck in a momentary shocked silence. Subaru vaguely wondered if they had been too caught up in their their own actions to have really noticed him standing in front of them.

"What the hell is going on?" Ayato's red haired head peeked out from one of the doors down the hall. His presence breaking the startled silence.

Laito blinked turning to face Ayato as a mischievous smile lit his face. "Ayato, Subaru," he began to say as he placed his hands on Yui's shoulders. "This looks like Little Bitch right?"

Subaru narrowed his eyes. What was Laito trying to pull?

Ayato too looked confused, stepping further out of the doorway and closer to the scene.

"However," he said as he shook his head. A rather mocking sound came to his voice as he finished his sentence,"this is our precious brother Ka-na-to~."

"Kanato's with Reiji," Ayato said, his disbelief easy to hear.

"But this is Kanato," Laito said, before his arms wound themselves around Yui's shoulders. "Unless Little Bitch has been lying to me?" His playful tone was gone replaced by something more chilling.

Yui wiggled out of his embrace. A harsh look still in her eyes as she said, "I am Kanato. Yui did...Yui did something to me."

Subaru watched Ayato briefly look back and forth from Yui to Laito, before he met his gaze. Subaru would never claim that he was close to any of the triplets. In fact, there had been a few times where he had gone out of his way to avoid them. Too loud, too obnoxious, they were just too much at times. Subaru however, had easily read the look Ayato had given him. "Do you believe this too?" His stare had questioned.

Subaru stared back at him trying to convey that no he did not believe them. He then watched Ayato shrug his shoulders and said, "Let's find Kanato then."

"I'm here," Yui said quickly.

Subaru felt that Ayato barely contained an eye roll as he added, "Let's find Yui then."

Yui nodded at this, a smile on her face that did indeed seem more like Kanato's than Yui's. She then began to lead the way. Presumably, to where Ayato believed Kanato to be. Subaru watched the three leave and almost without his control he felt his own legs begin to move. Curiosity pulling at him as he walked behind them, any hope for a quiet night gone.

Meanwhile, in another room, Shu stared blankly above at the ceiling. His feet where propped up on the arm rest of a green couch and his head snuggled into it's soft cushion. The group were far too loud. Between Yui's stomping and aggravating voice, along with Subaru's punching a hole in a wall, (which Shu was positive was Subaru,) he had woken up.

He stared at the ceiling listening to the noisy group out in the hall. It wasn't that he was interested in what they were saying, he was just waiting for them to leave so he didn't have to move. In the end, however he decided to roll over. A finger pushing the + volume button until the sounds of the noisy group disappeared.
