Chapter 4/7
I finally met Luna when me and Ginny were five. Meeting Luna Lovegood was something I'd been waiting for years because Luna was supposed to be my sisters best friend and I want to meet The Luna Lovegood, Fanon's worst and best nightmare.
We actually met her when we were practising Ginny's magic, mostly tested Ginny's magic outside the confines of the Lab, mostly because pretty much every thing Ginny's magic did was destructive. After repairing and re-decorating the Lab four times, we decided to practise outside.
We were trying a exorcise to limit Ginny's outflow of magic, because when we tried it mostly got sent out in a giant destructive burst. Right now I was trying to coach her threw a sort of sonar spell that I created to cheat at hide and seek. When she did it, everything came out in a visible burst that ripped up the ground surrounding her.
This caused a squeak of surprise to come from young Luna's throat as she watched us perform magic. Whipping my head around to her direction so fast I was afraid I'd given myself whiplash. Me and my magic sent out the sonar spell, locating her hiding behind a tree near the edge of it's range, so roughly 5 metres away.
"We know your there" I called out to the young girl " We won't hurt you, we're not angry" A mop of blonde hair peeked out the side of a tree as she stared at me. Walking slowly towards her, like a a wounded wild animal. Ginny came up next to me after recovering her breath from her weaponized sonar blast.
"Who's there Henry?" After two years, Ginny had managed to get rid of her adorable lisp. "Hello? Do you want to be friends?" I face palmed, honestly this girl. She didn't know who it was and she wanted to be friends. What if they were hostile? No matter how unlikely it was considering she was a young girl.
Silently we(Me and my magic) readied an invisible shield, just in case. It turned out we didn't need it as the girl stepped into our sight. The first thing that I noticed was how she looked like a little Luna Lovegood and I realised who it must be. She was wearing a white sundress that seemed similar to Ginny's red and yellow sundress, must be the same make. I don't know why girls insist on them when they can throw on some jeans and a blue t-shirt, like me.
"H-Hello" She seemed nervous, but then again she had just seen Ginny and her destructive might. This didn't seem to bother Ginny as she lunged forward and grabbed Luna's hand and started talking a mile a minute. From the frazzled look in Luna's eye it seemed that she wasn't able to get an edge in otherwise.
Deciding to help my sisters new friend, I cut in. "Hey sis don't you think it would be a good idea to let her say something?" To Ginny's credit she did have the decency to blush.
"I-I'm Luna" The shy girl spoke up, practically whispering. At my sisters look of confusion, she spoke up. "I'm Luna" You could have told my sister that Christmas was cancelled and she wouldn't have been less happy about her new friend.
"I'm Henry, and that's Ginny, my adorable little minx" At my words my sister reacted with displeasure and shown me with a despairing whine of "Henryyyyy".
And so with our first meeting, which created a lot more problems for us to deal with, like how to convince Luna not to tell the world what she tried lot's of methods, bribery, threats(Of tickles, I'm not a monster) and begging. But eventually we managed to cut a deal with her, we would teach her how to do magic, and she wouldn't tell anyone. This lead to me to teaching two people how to perform magic.
Unlike mine or Ginny's, Luna's was more... strange. Like when we practised the sonar spell, everything it touched was changed into something. Mushrooms into lollipops, trees being gift wrapped like a Christmas present and a little pond for emergencies fires, like when we practised firework spells, was turned into a golden syrup pond.
Luna's magic definitely was different. That actually helped a theory I'd been working on, that every persons magic is personalised, like Ginny's being destructive and Luna's strange. Not to mention how magic worked with wands.
Mine and Ginny's wands were strange, mine was an ebony wood with a phoenix feather and thirteen inches long. Ginny's was aspen wood with unicorn tail hair and 8 inches long. When we used wands or just touched one, it sucked in a part of your magic, a fact neither me or my magic were happy about, and allowed you complete control over it. And after five years of us working together it just felt odd to do magic independently so we didn't use it much. It felt too much like i was forcing them to do something.
Ginny found her magic to be more manageable after touching her wand, but it didn't feel right so she didn't use it like us. I theorised that wand movements were meant to signify the patterns that magic went in when performing a spell.
Now that I think about it, it might be a good idea to get Luna a wand to see how it affects Luna's magic because only two people didn't make for a very sound theory.
While I was lost in thought, Ginny and Luna started dunking their heads into the syrup, drinking like they hadn't drank anything in weeks, if you ignored the fact that Luna looked like she was going to collapse.
deciding it might be a good idea to stop them before one fell in, I spoke up "Alright girls, I think this is a good time to stop the tests. So why don't we head back to the Burrow and get something to eat" I clapped my hands at the end of the statement.
On our way back I heard Luna ask Ginny what I meant by the Burrow "The Burrow is what we call our home, It's kinda like a Burrow" At Ginny's answer she made a sound that signified she understood.
On our way in, our mother stopped us "Oh, who is this?" Ginny answered her.
"This is Luna, she's my new friend" I had carried on walking and snatched the plate filled with sandwiches and walked to my room, at the top of the stairs I yelled at them to hurry up.
Over the years, our room had gained a new appearance, the walls and ceiling remained the same but the furniture was different. On one of my outings, this time to muggle London, I found a therapist couch. I dragged that all the way back to the Burrow, sneaking in through the floo. The wardrobes became one bigger one with soft brown wood. The therapist couch was near the foot of my bed directly across from Ginny's array of stuffed animals, all sat on shelves.
While I waited for the girls to come up stairs, We started casting spells, meant to hide what we were talking about, what we were doing and who we were. You never know who could be on a broom. After we finished I spotted Scabbers and chucked a rock at him, a pile I handily kept under my bed. This was when Ginny and Luna came in, watching me throw a rock out of a window.
Motioning Luna to sit down on the therapist chair, I started the interrogation. "So, Luna. How did you find us" I ignored the dirty look Ginny gave me, it was an important question!
"I-I was looking for crumple horned snorkacks" Wasn't that one of the things her dad told her about?
"Your story seems to check out, now what are you going to do with what you saw"
"N-Nothing, honest" She looked like she was going to start crying, god I feel like an arse.
As Ginny went over to comfort her, I spoke up. "Listen, I'm, not really good with this stuff so I'm just going to say it. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you cry"
"I-It's okay" But it wasn't though, and I said as much.
"Why don't we go clean up, right Luna" My sister said as she got up and took Luna to the bathroom. As she left, she drew a line across her throat. I'm fucked.
After dealing with my sister later on after Luna left we (Me and Ginny) snuck out to the Lab which had also had some changes, for example it was bigger with actual rooms and halls.
The Lab was still located in the same tree as last time with the firefly jars charmed to not show up in the day. The chute went down into a hallway where the were rooms on either side. Currently there was eight rooms. The first two were bedrooms, one for me and one for Ginny. The next two rooms were labs, one for potions and one for spells. The next room was what I called the kitchen. The next where the living room and library respectively. And finally the bathroom.
The bedrooms just had some lights, wardrobes, beds and desks. The labs had potion sets, protections and ingredients. The kitchen was a room with a counter, oven, microwave and sink. The living room was a room with an old fashioned TV(To me), armchairs and beanbags with a hole in the wall that connected to the kitchen. The library was where I put all finished projects, books and notes. It was an enormous room filled with display cases and bookshelves. The bathroom was small and had a toilet, shower and sink.
I headed straight to the potion lab after stopping in my bedroom for some disposable gloves. Grabbing ingredients on the way I had Ginny set up a cauldron and ask her to get me some water. Opening a book left on a desk I flipped through the pages until I reached the newest page and started putting in ingredients. The problem with this was that making potions was destructive, that's why I always went in with protection.
After spending an hour or so creating failures(Read explosions) in potions, we were interrupted by a knock. We froze. No one else was supposed to know about this place. Silently, we readied to use our magic on who ever it was before Luna poked her head in.
"Umm, where's the bathroom?"
Omake: The magic of holes
We were making a spell to increase or decrease gravity. This would normally be very dangerous because it could affect the entire world but I made sure it only effected the room I was in. As my magic flew into it's usual seizure inducing patterns, I felt a sort of pull.
'Holy shit. On the first try.' This was the thought that went through my head.
Before I really discovered what was happening.
"HOLY FUCKING SHIT I'M GONNA DIE!"
How else would you react to a black hole appearing in front of you.
After my mishap with the black hole that I barely managed to survive because I opened the door and grabbed the doorway, I decided to never mess with gravity again.
At the moment I was trying to create a potion that would allow the ability of flight, when an explosion happened, not being a stranger to explosions, I brushed away the smoke.
And then I realised the smoke was moving inwards and disappearing. Horror overtook me. 'No, it couldn't be'
"NOT ANOTHER BLACK HOLE!" I yelled as I lunged for the hand bar I installed in every room after the last black hole incident.
Okay, after the last two times I had decided to abandon everything to do with flight, gravity and focus on transfiguration.
We were working on a spell that would transfigure gases into solid or liquid objects. After memorising the patterns I realised I recognised something.
I sprinted for the door as everything in the room started moving towards the LIVING black hole that was chasing me.
"WHY IS IT ALWAYS BLACK FUCKING HOLES"
AN: Merry Christmas! Or Hanukkah! Or whatever religious holiday! Hope you all have a great Christmas/Religious holiday and in celebration, here's an omake.
