I'm sitting in the air.
Very high up.
I don't like this. I really don't like this.
I'm kind of like really scared of heights.
And now I'm falling.
Oh crap.
As I'm falling I try to grab onto branches when I pass them, but I can't get a grip before I'm falling again.
I'm going to die.
I don't want to die! I desperately hang onto a branch for dear life.
"Help!" I scream. Tears are suddenly falling down my face. "Somebody help me!" My voice seems to just bounce straight back at me.
I'm in the middle of nowhere. Nobody will ever hear me. I'll be left here until I get eaten by a mountain lion or...
I freeze when I hear a growling right behind me.
I whimper pathetically as my brain refuses to function. I know that you're not meant to move or make any noise but I can't help it, I'm going to be eaten by a mountain lion!
"HELP ME! SOMEBODY!" I scream hysterically. The leaves behind me start to rustle and I know that the hungry lion is coming closer.
What do I do? Do I let the mountain lion eat me and die or do I let go of the branch and die? Decisions, decisions... Death or death.
Right at that moment the branch starts to snap from holding my weight.
Isn't it just great when life makes your decisions for you? Death by height it is.
And so I'm plummeting down again, but I can now see the ground. And it doesn't look like the softest landing. I quickly shield my face with my arms.
This is going to hurt.
"OOOF" I moan as I hit a thorn brush. Winded, I try to untangle my limbs from the spiky shrub.
"Owwh." I examine the small but painful cuts and scratches covering my body.
I'm just glad I closed my eyes.
I sit down on a patch of dry-ish grass as a wet butt is the least of my problems at the minute.
Okay, so I need a plan. Right so first I will find out where I am. And then... I will try to get out of wherever I am and then I will try to phone home...?
This isn't going to work. How am I supposed to know where I am? I tuck myself into a ball and try to bite back my sobs. I just want to go home.
How did I even get here? One minute I was just shopping and then I... What did I do next? Why can't I remember?
I'm so engrossed in trying to come up with some sort of plan that I don't notice the shadow of a bear approaching me until he gives a loud roar and swipes his paws at me.
I scream and tell myself to crawl away but I can't move, I'm again frozen in terror.
When the bear swipes his paw, this time nearly hitting my face, my adrenaline finally kicks in and I stumble to my feet, realizing that I must have sprained my ankle when I fell.
I force my shaky legs to coordinate and limp away from the bear as fast as I can.
I glance behind me to see if the bear is still there and hit a brick wall. Or maybe it's a tree.
"Oww." I murmur rubbing my head. I turn away from the tree.
"Where is that bear?" I wonder out loud and turn around to see if he's behind me.
"Oh my god! You're not a tree!" I scream as a ridiculously tall man laughs at me in a deep voice.
He has humongous muscles, dark curly hair, ghostly pale skin, and hypnotizing golden eyes. I find myself staring into them.
"Snap out of it!" I yell at my subconscious. Or maybe my subconscious yelled at me.
Either way I instantly know who he is. "Emmett Cullen."
"What?" He's looking alarmed.
"Oh, um. Did I say that out loud?" Oops.
"How do you know my name and what are you doing here?" He asks. I find myself suddenly scared.
"I... Um... Well, it's a funny story actually..." He raises his eyebrows at me.
"I- I'm lost." I whisper. His eyes seem to soften and he doesn't look so scary.
"How did you get here in the first place?" He asks kindly.
"I don't know." As I'm saying this, the tears fall my face again. "I just want to go home."
"Where do you live?"
"San Francisco" I say in a small voice.
"What? How did you get here then? Do you know where you are?" He asks, and I don't know why I called him scary, he's actually the nicest vampire I've met yet. Okay, he's the second vampire I've met yet and Edward had the right to be scary, but still.
"No. I just woke up and then I was falling, like from the sky and then I landed in a thorn-bush and it really hurt and then there was a mountain lion and it was going to eat me and I sprained my ankle and then the bear tried to eat me and then I walked into you and I hurt my head and I thought you would eat me, because you're a-" Okay. I think I'll stop talking now.
"Because I'm a?"
"Uh, never mind. It was lovely meeting you, but I've... I've got a dentist appointment so I must be off... Uh bye..." I squeak. I try to turn around but his hand is on my shoulder.
"Dentist appointment. How original." Suddenly he's scary again. "Is you're ankle okay?" What?! I thought he would definitely eat me now I told him I knew his secret, but he's asking if I'm okay? This is one weird vamp.
"Um, yeah."
"Jasper, Carlisle? Come here, I've found something... Interesting." He yells, making me jump. He laughs again.
In literally a second, two impossibly handsome blonde vampires approach us. Emmett moans, accepting that I know that something is wrong with his family.
"Could you at least act human?" He hisses through his teeth at them.
He glances at me but I'm hyperventilating. I mean c'mon. Three incredibly hot vampires in one forest. Who wouldn't be hyperventilating?
"Are you okay?" He asks me, looking concerned.
"Er... Yeah. Sure." Oh, I'm better than alright.
"Carlisle, Jasper this is... Um?" They all stare at me.
"Oh! Sorry, I'm Danielle." I smile, only Carlisle smiles back.
"Danielle. Danielle this is Carlisle and Jasper."
"Pleasure" Says Carlisle and Jasper nods in agreement.
"What are you doing in the forest?" Asks Jasper, speaking for the first time.
"I'm lost." I say truthfully.
"And she has a dentist appointment to attend" Adds Emmett, grinning.
The blonde vampires stare at him in confusion.
"Well anyway, I think we should probably get her back to her family in San Francisco."
"San Francisco?" Repeats Carlisle. "How did you get to Forks?"
"Forks?! Why am I in Forks? I'm not meant to be here! I need to go home!"
"You don't know how you got here?" Jasper asks kindly. He can probably sense that my emotions are a mess.
"No... I just kind of woke up in the sky."
"You woke up in the sky?" He repeats disbelieve buried in his tone.
"I know, I know... You probably think I'm crazy! And I'm really sorry for disturbing your hunt and everything, but I..." Am an idiot. I finish in my head.
"How do you know-" Carlisle starts to speak, his face full of shock.
"Hike," I interrupt. "I meant to say hike!"
The three vampires give each other wary looks.
"Perhaps we should take you home, and then you can explain to us what you know and why you're here?" Carlisle says. "But I think you know more than you're letting on."
I think he's probably right.
Review other wise I'll get Emmett to eat you!
