For the last couple of weeks Kagome still had no news from Sango. Over time, she grew irritated and lonely. She had filled up a missing report to the Hokage and she still had no news. Shisui was still busy with his own missions but he shared her concern.
"Kagome." She heard her mother calling from the living room.
"I'm coming." She answered back while finishing her side braid. She put protective cream on her shoulders and face before going to meet her mother. As she walked down the stairs, Kagome buttoned her shirt. She stopped when her eyes met Itachi's. Her mouth shut in a thin line of displeasure. "What are you doing here?"
"Kagome." Her mother gently warned. "Itachi-kun is here to talk you. Be respectful." She turned to Itachi and smiled. "Can i get you anything, Itachi-kun?"
"No thank you." He politely smiled.
"Okay. I will leave you two alone then. Kagome." She approached her daughter and whispered. "Listen to him."
Kagome glared at Itachi who did nothing than stare at her with an uncomfortable look. "Can't promise anything."
"Kagome." Her mother shook her head and left the room.
Kagome sat in front of him and continued with her glare. She waited silently for Itachi to start the conversation. "Kagome." He rested his hands on his knees, watching her uneasiness growing. "I'm...I want to explain everything."
…
Itachi blinked, not sure, if she was actually paying attention to him or not. "I did it for a reason and besides being difficult, i had to."
"You had to?" She cleaned a tear that fell down her face. "Your actions don't deserve an explanation, Itachi. You deserve nothing." She angrily spat.
Itachi gripped the fabric of his trousers. He closed his eyes to prevent his glare to be seen. "If you let me explain, you'll know it, why i had to do it."
"Get out." She got up and pointed to the door. "I don't want to see you, Itachi. I want distance and peace. It's over."
Itachi stared at her for a few moments and got up. He watched her moving away and crossing her arms as he made his leave. He pulled a blank face when leaving her clan's complex. He knew she was stubborn but he would have never guessed, things would go outta hand.

After the "arguing" she had with Itachi days ago, Kagome was advised by her sensei the miku Kaede to get rid from the negativity she was originating. One it was bad for her, for the people around her and mostly for her training.
It would compromise her status and attract unwanted attention. And, for a person with her still growing skills, it was very bad. "Uh…I don't know Kouga, this doesn't seem right."
"Chilling isn't right? Come on, Kagome-chan. Kaede informed the Hokage about me, besides." He ran ahead of her and swirled around like a child would do. "I look good and you can't tell what i am."
"Shhh, keep it down." Kagome looked from side to side. "These people have problems with demons. They aren't exactly very open about it." She sighed and felt him grabbing her hand. His half-closed eyes, held a familiar emotion on them. "Hmm, Kouga?"
"Kagome." He brought both her hand to his lips closing his eyes in the process. His voice was smoothing like the soft spring breeze that danced on Konoha. "I've always loved you. If you allow me…..I promise i will not let anyone to hurt you ever again." Kouga opened his eyes and his gleam was stronger.
Kagome blushed while staring at him. She felt her surroundings stopping as his hands became hot. She closed her brown eyes and smiled. "You are very sweet Kouga but-!"
"Don't say it." He said with a serious yet sweet voice. Kagome stopped talking but allowed him to hold her hands. "You can't predict the future, Kagome. A lot will change in your life and i will wait for you no matter what. Even…."He sadly looked to the side but quickly found the comfort on her eyes. "Even if you don't choose to be with me, i will be here for you….Always." He smiled.
"Kouga." Kagome eyes sparkled while staring deep into his blue eyes.
"Now, come. Let's enjoy this awkward entertainment, you people have here." Kouga excitedly pulled her and started to run towards the small adorable Ferris wheel.
Kagome had almost forgotten the feeling of peace. The stress of her training, the break up and Sango's disappearance seemed working together to put her down.
'This feeling is nice.' She smiled while adjusting her head on Kouga's shoulder. He was more than happy to have her, this close. Even if she displayed no interest on wanting him. He was happy.
Because she was happy.
…..
Because he was the one making her happy.
"Since you moved to this place, things got difficult at the village." He said swallowing a ball of dango.
"You have been around the village? Why?" She asked, sitting properly.
Kouga looked to the side. His eyes displaying sadness as the blurred glow of the moon shone on the restful waters. "I missed you. And since i couldn't approach Konoha, the village is the closest thing i have. Your scent is still there." He looked back at her.
Kagome gave him a sympathetic smile and wiped the corner of his mouth that had traces of the dango. As she retreated her hand back, Kouga grabbed it and stared down at her brown eyes.
"Kagome."
"Shisui?" She quickly got up and turned around to meet the Uchiha. "I….What..are you doing here?"
Kouga finished eating his dangos and tossed the chopsticks away. He got up and looked at Shisui annoyed. "Are you going to introduced me to your friend?" He said with his usual laid-back attitude.
"Oh, right. This is Kouga a longtime friend." She motioned to him with a smile. "Kouga this is Shisui. He's also a friend."
"Nice to meet you, Kouga-san." Shisui smiled.
"Yeah, nice to meet you too." He said uninterested with his hands behind his head.
"Kouga." Kagome placed her hands on her hips while glaring at the stubborn demon-wolf.
"It's okay, Kagome-chan. I just wanted to see how you are doing. I'm sorry for not being around much." He approached her and grabbed her hands. He heard Kouga sneer in disapproval. "I've heard about it. If you want to talk, i'm here for you."
"What do you mean with talk? Kagome."
"It's nothing, Kouga. I just had a rough time that's all."
"If you are feeling sad, which i know you are, i….i'm here. You know i'm here. And i want to be present to support you and be with you. I can take care of you. Kagome tell me what's wrong. Did somebody hurt you? Tell me."
She signaled with her hands to calm Kouga, who was almost out of breath. Her gentle eyes smiling at him."Nothing happened. Just the training stress and family issues. Chill Kouga."
"Hrmmrmrm….You are lying. I can tell it." He sulked and turned his back at her. "I'm not important to you that's why you won't tell me."
"Don't say that. You are being immature." Kagome placed her hand on his shoulders. "You have the tendency to exaggerate."
"Hn." He turned his head to the side, still sulking.
"Trust me, Kouga. Everything is okay. And just for the record you are perfectly aware i care deeply about you."
Kouga turned around to look at her with a blush on his face. "I know…I was hoping to see you mad and saying that."
"You little devil." She laughed and pushed him.
"Well, it's probably for the best to leave you two alone. Have a good night. It's was a pleasure to meet you, Kouga-san." Shisui said with one hand on his hip. "Goodnight Kagome-chan."
"Goodnight Shisui."
"Same." Kouga watched Shisui vanishing. He sniffed the air to make sure he wasn't spying on them. A poke on the ribs was enough to make him stop. "Ouch, Kagome." He protested while hearing the laugh he so much adores.
"Stop being like that. Come on." Kagome started to walk away. "My father is probably going to murder me for being out so late."
"Kaede told me not to worry about him." He started to follow her. "You are in good hands." He placed his hands behind his back. He looked to the sparkling sky and realized he had never felt so lonely in his whole life.
Because tomorrow Kagome won't be with him.
Next morning
Kagome woke up feeling relaxed and at peace. Itachi's actions still weighted on her heart but Sango was now far more important than her feelings.
She stretched and turned to the side. She adjusted her head in the pillow and smiled. Kouga had never forgotten her yet she blamed herself for not stomping down her foot and demanding to see him.
But.
She was soo deep in Itachi that she put everyone from her previous life on second place. Closing her eyes, Kagome glared. She was the problem. She has to make decisions and face the world. "I should be more compassionate with Kouga and the others. I cannot forget who i am."
A gentle knock on the door, quickly dissipated her thoughts. "Kagome, dear?"
"Come in mother." She sat down and rubbed her eyes.
Her mother smiled down at her while leaning against the door. "Kouga-kun sure put a smile on your pretty face."
"I can't believe i didn't spare him some of my time before."
"You weren't allowed either." Her mother opened her curtains and went to pick her some clothes. "Once you start your training you can't allow any demon like energy to find you. Even if it's a good energy. Here." She placed the clothes on her chair. "Go take a shower and meet Kaede."
"Thank you." She smiled, receiving a kiss on the forehead.
Before closing the door, her mother spoke. "Itachi and Shisui would like to have a word with you before you meet Kaede."
Kagome blinked and nodded. She was in no mood to see Itachi at all, but since Shisui would be there. She will meet them."Okay."
Her mother nodded and closed the door. Kagome stretched again and made her way to the bathroom.
Making her way to meet Shisui and Itachi, Kagome gave a last bite on her apple before tossing it to the garbage. She cleaned her mouth on her sleeve and stopped. She watched Itachi in full Anbu uniform with his mask hiding the left side of his face while Shisui was dressed in his usual attire.
She took a deep breath and tried to calm her heart down. 'Here i go.' She started to go up the green hill, stopping behind them. "I'm here." She said.
They turned around and Shisui greeted her with a smile while Itachi had a blank face. "Just in time." Shisui approached her. "We have Sango's trace."
"You do?" Kagome clapped her hands together and excitedly started to bomb him with questions. "Where is she? Is she okay? Tell me please."
"Calm down." Shisui smiled. "She's fine. She's at some boy's house."
"Where?"
"Itachi will explain it to you. I have to report…something to the Hokage. I have to present myself to the Hokage. Bye." Shisui smiled before vanishing.
Kagome stood in the same place, blinking like a child. 'Damn Shisui.' She controlled her angry expression when her eyes fell on Itachi. His blank face was something she wasn't used to.
…
Moments had passed and none of them spoke. Kagome pulled a strand of hair behind her ear and when she was about to speak, Itachi broke the silence. "You still don't want to listen to me?"
She took a deep breath and shook her head. "I have important things to do. Tell me where is Sango."
"Like being with that demon?"
"What the-? How do you know about Kouga?" Kagome gasped angrily. "Are you following me, Itachi?"
"Kouga?"
"Itachi answer the question." She demanded, glaring at him.
"I thought you said you didn't want to hear me."
Kagome shut her eyes closed and squeezed her fists. When she was about to rant him, Itachi grabbed her hands and looked deeply into her eyes. Kagome felt her heart beating madly, her face blushing and her eyes forming tears.
Itachi placed his hand on her face and leaned in. He felt a pair of lips kissing him. He slowly intertwined his fingers on her hair, feeling her tears marking his face and her nails sinking in rage on his shoulders.
That delightful and innocent moment was abruptly snatched away from him as Kagome pushed him away. She quickly turned around and cleaned her tears. She looked to the sky and spoke in a shaken voice, before leaving. "Move on. And don't seek me anymore."
Itachi stood at the hill, watching her leave. He placed his Anbu mask on and went to his back pocket. He pulled out a small kunai, before his figure disappeared in leafs.
