CHAPTER 4

Hermione, Harry, Ron and Luna walked down the grounds back to the castle after a quick visit to see Hagrid, who had introduced them to a new dog, a female named Bite. Hagrid seemed to think the names were cute, having two dogs called Fang and Bite, but the group was to relieved to find out that it was only a dog that Hagrid had to show them rather then some dangerous magical creature, that they barely even payed attention to what Hagrid had said.

Harry had his arms around Hermione as he kissed the top of her head gently, listening to Ron talk about the Chudley Cannon's newest victory in quidditch. He was telling them about his favourite part when he stopped talking suddenly. Luna was about to ask what was wrong when she looked into the direction Ron was.

"Oh," said Luna, starting to walk slower.

"What?" Harry asked, turning to look in the direction Luna and Ron were. "Oh."

Hermione also looked in that direction but did not say anything. Harry felt her tense up beside him and he rubbed his hand up and down her arm reassuringly before pulling her even tighter against him.

In the near distance was Cho Chang, pacing back and forth in front of the stone steps that led into the castle. Her long black hair was swishing back and forth when she turned around, and Hermione couldn't help but think that she was indeed pretty, along with thinking about just how much she hated her, and listing the many reasons why in her head. She knew she had nothing to worry about, Harry would never cheat on her, he would never betray anyone, and she knew that he wasn't interested in Cho anymore. What Harry used to have was a small crush, nothing like the love he now feels for Hermione.

"Looks like she's waiting for ya mate," Ron told him, as Cho saw Harry approaching and stopped pacing, instead walking towards them.

Harry sighed, wondering why Cho wanted to see him. They hadn't talked to each other since the argument involving Hermione and Dumbledore's Army, and if he was honest, he was fine with it staying that way.

"Maybe I should summon a mop and bucket before the water-works start," Hermione muttered quietly, but it was loud enough for Harry, Ron and Luna to hear. Ron snickered and Luna giggled, Harry laughed gently and ran his hand through Hermione's hair.

"Play nicely Mione," he told her playfully, she grinned up at him in return.

Cho had reached them and was looking quite confident as she briskly said hello to everyone. Harry didn't want to make this exchange any longer then necessary for Hermione's sake, so he skipped the small talk.

"Is there something we can help you with?" Harry asked Cho politely.

"Actually, I wanted to speak to Hermione," Cho said, turning her gaze from Harry to his girlfriend.

"Why?" Hermione asked. Cho and herself had never spoken a word to each other. Hermione didn't see why that had to change now, she didn't want to waste her energy talking to Cho, especially when there was nothing to talk about. Harry is Hermione's, not Cho's and that's all there is to it.

"Just about...ummm, could we talk in private?" Cho asked, flipping her hair behind her shoulder.

"Uh, I guess," Hermione said in confusion, looking up at Harry wearily. He gave her a small smile before kissing her on the cheek.

"We'll wait here for you," he told her, letting go of her hand slowly as she walked to a tree out of ear-shot of the rest of the group.

Hermione began to ask what this was all about, wanting to get this over as quickly as possible. "So what did-"

"I think you should break up with Harry!" Cho interrupted suddenly.

Hermione's eyes narrowed, "Excuse me?!"

"You heard what I said Hermione. You two are so wrong for each other, me and him would be so perfect," Cho continued dreamily.

"Him and I," Hermione corrected, "Bloody hell, how did you get put into Ravenclaw?"

"Well first Professor Mcgonagall brought out the sorting hat and-"

"It was a rhetorical question Cho," Hermione interrupted, thinking about just how much of a waste of time this conversation was.

"Oh, right. I knew that. Anyway, back to the point, I think you should break up with Harry. He deserves better. He deserves me." Cho said confidently.

Hermione's hands were clenched into fists as Harry, Ron and Luna watched anxiously in the distance. "You don't deserve Harry. He made a choice. You had your chance and you blew it, then I got my chance. He chose me, not you, so just get over it and leave us alone!" Hermione said angrily, glaring at Cho and wishing she had her wand with her so that she could hex Cho into next week, or maybe next year, next century maybe, they probably wouldn't be around then and wouldn't have to deal with Cho.

They both took a step towards each other and Harry and the rest of the group took this as a sign to move towards them before someone got hurt. As they approached they started to hear what Hermione and Cho were talking about, and Harry started to feel anger swell up inside him at hearing Cho's comments.

"Oh come on Hermione. He doesn't want you. He just took you as a last resort because he thought there was no chance between us. Well, there is now, and he'll be running back to me any second."

"If you're so confident about that," Hermione snapped, "why aren't you talking to him instead of me?"

"I think I will, wish me luck," Cho said, heading around to walk the last few steps to Harry.

"You're going to need a lot more then luck!" Hermione replied angrily, following Cho to meet Harry.

"Hi Harry," Cho said sultrily, placing her hand on his arm and batting her eyelashes, causing Hermione to roll her eyes. "I was just thinking that we should go out sometime, just the two of us, you know?"

Harry looked at Cho's hand on his arm to Cho's face with a look of confusion mixed with a bit of disgust and disbelief. "Uhh, no, I don't know," he told her, removing her hand from his arm. "I've got a girlfriend, you know that."

"Her?!" Cho asked, "But...but..but you can have me."

"I don't want you," Harry said softly, "I want Hermione."

Cho looked back and forth at Harry and Hermione incredulously, as if seeing them both for the first time. "You'll realise how much you want me Harry. Everybody does." She said before walking off in a huff.

Hermione walked up to Harry and he put his arms around her while she wrapped her own arms around his waist tightly. He kissed her softly on the head before heading back to the castle with the others. When they reached the castle Ron and Luna went off together to have some lunch but Harry and Hermione headed to the deserted Griffindor common room, glad that a lot of people had decided to go to Hogsmaede, or explore the grounds since the weather was perfect.

Hermione sat down heavily on couch and stared at a spot on the wall. Harry cautiously sat down next to her, and placed his hand just above her knee. "You know that everything Cho said was a lie, don't you?" He asked turning her face around so that she was looking at him. She sighed and kissed him softly on the lips.

"Yeh, and I know that you don't want Cho or anything, it's just... I don't know, she's so pretty and popular. Compare that to me and-,"

"You'd come out on top," Harry said forcefully before Hermione had a chance to finish. "Hermione, you're gorgeous, and I think you're much prettier then Cho, inside and out. One more word about or relating to your looks that isn't about how beautiful you are and I will throw you into that lake like I said I would."

Hermione smiled at Harry and he smiled back, glad that he had been able to cheer her up a bit. She leaned into Harry and he wrapped his arms around her, burying his face in her hair.

"Does it make me a bad person if I'm thinking of how many curses I could put on Cho?" Hermione asked innocently, smiling a bit as she turned to face Harry.

He laughed softly before saying, "As long as you're not actually carrying the curses out, you can think about whatever you want, as long as I'm included one in a while."

Hermione grinned broadly, "Always," she said, resting her forehead against his, before leaning down for a kiss.

A/N- so how did you guys like the chapter? I know that Cho isn't as stupid as I made her, she is in Ravenclaw after all, but I like this side of her, and hey! It's my story! Lol. Anyway review and let me know what ya think!
