C'est a stand alone - that, doesn't have much on its own and yet, I don't know. I'm not sure.

"Do you have to go?"

"To the convention that my mother put me down for – as a moderator for a talk on a topic where, I do happen to be an expert in?"

Jane groans.

Maura's in front of the mirror, putting on the earrings Ian had sent ahead.

"Do you have to go with him?"

Jane can taste bitterness on her tongue.

"Jane," Maura walks over to Jane, "You're my best friend."

A best friend you don't sleep with. Jane doesn't say.

"And you're mine Maura." Jane smiles her best smile.

"We can have pizza night when I get back." Maura says as she heads towards the door.

Jane leaps over the sofa. "Maura, wait."

Maura chuckles. "Did you just – glad someone's feeling athletic."

"Haha, very funny Maura." Jane reaches into her pocket. Takes out a paper heart she had learnt to fold during lunch break.

"I give you love," Jane smiles.

Maura meets her gaze.

Jane holds her smile and wonders if Maura knows she had intentionally dropped the 'my'. Why are her palms sweaty. Jane holds her smile.

Maura raises an eyebrow.

"Thank you Jane," Maura places the paper heart in her purse, and leans forward to give Jane a kiss on the cheek.

Maura notes the quick dart up and back down again of Jane's hands. Why won't the detective just admit her feelings. Maura holds back a sigh and smiles wide at Jane.

"Okay, Jane," Maura steps through the doorway, "I'll see you in a few hours."

"See you later Maura," Jane waves. I'll be here, she doesn't say.

*shrugs* I don't know.
