A/N: Hello, people!

I don't own Inuyasha or The Hobbit?

I have no beta.

ENJOY!

Kagome and Shippo traipsed about the forest. After a week of exploring the mountain that Smaug refused to leave unless it was for food, which he didn't need all that often, they had decided to check out the land around the mountain.

The lake and the village that rested on it, were boring. Especially with their annoying 'king'. She understood Smaug's dislike for them. The people were rude to each other and the whole place reeked of fish. She may have been Japanese and used fish in a lot of her dishes, but she didn't like the scent all that much. It was repulsive and it covered everything!

She and Shippo were happy to leave, though they did appreciate the fish they caught for their meals while traveling through. The scent was just annoying. Luckily, it didn't cling to their clothes, making Kagome very happy.

The people of the village had bought the dribble about her being an elf. Shippo had hidden in her hair as she passed through, making sure not to be seen. The people were stupid as well, disappointing Kagome greatly.

The forest that was far beyond the town on the lake, was dense. Kagome was interested in the twisting and winding branches. She picked up a large branch that had broken off from a tree and pulled out the knife she had taken after passing through the village.

As she walked, she carved, making herself a nice bow.

"Shippo, pluck one of my hairs, please?"

Shippo carefully separated what he could and pulled one hair from her head. He held it over her shoulder and she gratefully took it, using her inner magic to connect it to the top of the bow and the connected it to the other end. He then continued to pull until the loose hair was free from the confines of her braid and sliced the excess part off with a perfect nail. She then set the remaining part on fire. Demon hair had power, which was why it was used in bowstrings. The bones were good for weapons and armour, but the hair was good for clothing and bowstrings. Hard to damage as well. If someone in this world got ahold of it, it could cause problems.

She poured some magic and reiki into the bow and held it up, grinning as it glowed a bright pink.

"I like it," Shippo said, reaching out to touch it.

Kagome nodded and ran her index finger over the engraved dragon she had made.

Shippo's nose twitched and he looked around, "I smell spiders."

Kagome tensed slightly and lifted her face to better take in the sounds and scents around them. "And from what I"m getting, they're huge," she hissed, not liking the mental image she was getting.

She took a defensive stance and lifted the bow, using her reiki to create multiple arrows of power.

The first spider that appeared was taller than a horse and Kagome shivered in revulsion. It was absolutely disgusting and she had no qualms about killing it.

Several more appeared and she dodged the many legs surrounding her. Her arrows flew all around, purifying every arachnid that dared to come near her. She just imagined that they were Naraku and it made it a lot easier for her to kill them all.

Shippo gripped her shoulders tightly as she flipped and moved all over the place, taking out the enemy swiftly. He was dizzy by the time she had finished spinning.

Kagome sighed when the noise stopped and the scent of spider was washed away in the purity of her arrows.

"I hate spiders."

Suddenly there was a flurry of motions and Kagome was surround by people, who all had their bows and arrows drawn on her.

She looked around, noticing that they were trapped. Slowly, she lowered her bow and straightened, waiting for someone to speak.

The blond in front of her, mimicked her movements and stepped a bit closer. He started speaking in a language that Kagome didn't know. From what she could tell from his appearance, he was an Elf and he was speaking Elvish.

The look on his face was one of distrust, so she could guess that he was asking something along the lines of who she was and why she was there. It only made sense that-that would be what he'd do upon first meeting a stranger who was in the woods near his home.

She stared at him for a while, not knowing what to do.

Shippo popped out from underneath her hair and asked very loudly, gaining everyone's attention even if they didn't understand him, "Are they Elves?"

Kagome nodded, "Yes, I believe they are. Smaug said that Elves had ears similar to ours and that no other creature in Middle Earth have such features similar to mine."

The Elf watched their interaction in silence and then opened his mouth once more.

Kagome just stared at him, not knowing what he was saying.

Finally, she became so frustrated she snapped and gave him her most piercing glare. One that could rival a pure arrow shot true from her bow.

"I don't understand what you're saying!" she yelled in English, huffing as she folded her arms.

The Elf's eyes went wide and he took a step back and gave a small bow. "I apologize my lady, I did not realize. I am Legolas, son of Thranduil and Prince of Mirkwood. Might I inquire as to why you have wandered so far into Elven territory?"

Finally, a language she could understand! And she flushed slightly at the sound of his voice. He was hot, she realized, now that her anger had abated. She must have had a thing for light-haired males, although, Naraku, though an annoying evil pain in the ass, was very attractive as well.

"I am Kagome, Priestess of Life and Purity. We're just sight-seeing," she returned, nodding her head toward him.

The widening of his eyes was so miniscule that if she wasn't a demon, she wouldn't have noticed it.

"I must escort you to my king. He will want to determine that you are of no threat our way of life. If he is pleased, he will allow you passage," Legolas stated.

Kagome sighed and nodded. She also really hoped that this king wasn't a prick. She had enough of haughty men in her life.

Kagome had to give Legolas her bow and allow the other Elves to surround her on all other sides as she followed Legolas further into the foliage.

The Elves were silent, managing to make no sound as they walked through the forest. She could barely hear them, which was impressive to say the least. Their auras were really in tune with the forest, which aided their spirits and blended with their magic as the traveled. It helped cloak them. That was why she couldn't sense them until they were upon her.

The parting in the trees ahead, let the sunlight through, illuminating everything in a bright glow. It was lovely to see the light once more instead of the darkness surrounding the forest. Stepping into the light gave way to a beautiful stone bridge that stretched across lovely blue waters. Ahead of them was the door to some sort of fortress, which was pressed into the mountain. On her left was a large waterfall and she sighed happily at the beauty of it all.

As a miko, she loved nature and such delicate natural creations made her heart and aura sing. It was lovely.

Inside the doors, she was greeted with the sight of bridges. Everything looked as if it was severely high off the ground and the thinnest of bridges only leading from one lading to another. The architecture was brilliant and she was truly impressed as how everything was carved.

She was also glad for her perfect balance and reflexes as a demon, because no human would be able to walk across a bridge that thin without toppling over.

Legolas and the Elves lead she and Shippo over bridge after bridge and up a large flight of stones stairs. Random beams of sunlight lit of the large chamber. It was lightening and Kagome wished she had her camera to take pictures. Not that her memory wasn't perfect, but still, just to be able to show her friends when she returned would be wonderful.

Up another flight of stairs and she was led onto a landing that was surrounded by a small set of steps in an almost circular formation. The Elves spread out, supposedly blocking off every escape route there was. Kagome's eyes were immediately drawn to the male Elf sitting on a very fanciful throne. A crown of what looked to be, antlers about his head. On it, were leaves and berries, that stood out against his very light blonde hair. He looked almost exactly like Legolas and she knew immediately that this was the king.

He left leg was crossed over his right and he regarded her with intense grey eyes. The silver of his clothing hugged his frame, making his beauty shine. Legolas definitely took after his father in every way.

She halted as Legolas got down on one knee, as did the other Elves, and bowed to the male Elf. Kagome huffed silently, knowing she'd have to do the same. So, she gathered all of her robes in her hands until her knees were visible and knelt as well, making sure not to dirty her very nice kimono.

Legolas began speaking in Elvish and the king sat up straighter. He then stood and approached calmly, ushering Legolas to the side as he spoke. Legolas looked at Kagome and repeated what his father had just said in English, "You may stand now."

Kagome sighed in relief, "Thank you."

Smoothing out her skirts, she folded her arms in her sleeves and assumed a position Sesshomaru had taught her when he held court. Her head was high and her chin tilted up slightly. Her back was ramrod straight and her breathing even. She fixed the king with an eve stare and waited.

"I am Thranduil, King of Northern Mirkwood. What brings a daughter of man to this forest? A desire to see the Elves perhaps?"

Kagome's brow quirked and she shifted a piece of loose hair that dislodged itself from her her braid, behind her ear, drawing the king's attention to it. His eyes flashed.

"You are not of the race of man?" he inquired.

She shook her head. "I am not an Elf either."

His mouth lifted on one side and he began circling her. "And what, pray tell, are you?"

"Something that shouldn't even be possible. I am one and I am another. Both enemies, brought together in one being. A contradiction."

Grey eyes flashed, "You don't seem to be much, despite your appearance."

She gave a wry smile, "Things aren't always as they appear. You would know all about that, wouldn't you?" She used a very sardonic tone, finally noticing the enchantment on half of his face.

His pleasant smile twitched, but he did not rise to her goading.

"Now what would a lady, garbed in such finer," he murmured, touching the sleeve of her outermost kimono, "clothing be doing here, in Mirkwood? Are you lost?"

She snorted, "No. I'm just traveling with my son. We like to explore new places and we've already been to Laketown and the Lonely Mountain."

The king spun rapidly and faced her, "You explored the mountain? Did you come across the drake?"

She nodded. "He told us to leave and that if we took anything, he'd kill us," she fibbed.

Legolas and his father stared for a moment. Shippo took their silence as a chance to pop out of Kagome's hair and ask her what was going on.

She turned to him and started to relay everything that was said so far. Her Japanese completely baffling the Elves. They watched as the two interacted with each other, waiting for them to finish.

Kagome faced the royals again and sighed, "He doesn't speak the language we are speaking and he's a curious child."

Shippo's head tilted and he fully removed himself from her hair, sitting on her shoulder, tail wiggling back and forth.

Legolas took a step forward, eyeing Shippo confusedly. "What is he?" he asked, staring at the fluffy tail.

"Different," Kagome said, not going into detail.

Thranduil was silent for a moment. "Are you truly a priestess, as ion nin has said?" he finally asked.

She nodded, "That I am. I could take care of your little problem, seeing as it was created with Darkness and it will never heal unless purified."

He understood her offer and his eyes went wide. The side of his face melted into a very grotesque looking scar. She was correct of course, it was layered with a dark sort of magic that kept it from healing.

Legolas immediately began speaking with Thranduil, he looked concerned.

The two seemed to argue for several moments as the Elves around them shifted uneasily. Finally, Legolas fixed her with a calculating gaze.

"You can help Ada? He says that if you truly can, you will give me something to hold on to to ensure that you will do it."

She gestured to the bow in his hands, "You already have my weapon. I have nothing else on me to really give. I guess you can hold my first kimono. But do not let it touch the ground. The top layer is a bit shorter to ensure that it never brushes the dirt."

She patted Shippo, urging him to jump to the ground. She then carefully removed her golden kimono, making sure to hold it up high. She instructed Legolas on how to hold it and then sighed. She liked her kimono.

"What manner of vestiture is this?" he asked, staring at the dragon. "How did you manage to trap a drake into the silk?"

She giggled, "I didn't. The design was drawn by of one of the royal painters and then magic was used to transfer it to the silk. It is called the outer kimono of a Junihitoe, which means, 'twelve robes'. Only women of a court or those who are highly wealthy can afford them."

"And you are of a court?" Thranduil asked, entering the conversation.

She nodded.

"What position does your husband play in the court?" he asked, leaning forward.

She snickered, "I don't have a husband. Nor do I have a blood family member in the court. I have my own position and it is not part of the harem, so don't even go there."

Father and son both flushed slightly, caught in their thoughts.

"Then what do you do?" Legolas asked, trying to get past the awkwardness.

"I'm my Lord's personal advisor. He doesn't really need me, but it gives me a place of safety with him. I accomplished something important many years ago, but unfortunately, priestesses are greatly disliked by his kind. Until something happened and I became like his kind and yet still a priestess at the same time, making me a bigger threat than before. But if I'm under his protection, they wouldn't dare touch me. Also, I help with human relations, seeing as his kind don't understand the minds of men and how to properly interact with those who live in his land. All this as a thank you for some help I lent him several years ago."

The two looked at each other and nodded. Thranduil stepped forward and the other Elves followed, crowing around them.

Kagome sighed, knowing their paranoia was well deserved.

She lifted a hand slowly, and placed it on his left cheek, right over the scarred area. Her reiki came to the surface and instantly began eating away at the dark magic. The dark was purified and she applied her healing to it, making the scar recede as pale skin replaced it. She pulled away and let him feel his face, checking to see if it was truly fixed.

Legolas gaped for a moment, as did the other Elves. Thranduil looked to her and caught her hand, placing a kiss on the palm.

"Len hannon, mellonnin!"

Legolas held out her kimono and she swiftly put it on, happy to have it back. Shippo jumped to her shoulder.

"Is there anything you'd like as payment?" Thranduil asked, still feeling his now clear skin.

Kagome shrugged, "I'm fine."

Legolas moved closer, "How about a collection of Elvin robes? As a way for you to remember the good part of Mirkwood."

Kagome took in their garments, noticing how they seemed to flow like water. Maybe more beautiful than he silk. She nodded, liking the idea of bringing them home with her.

"I would like that."

The surrounding Elves departed and a few women appeared, draped in lovely green dresses. Kagome was horrified when they asked her to remove her kimonos. She gave a pointed look to the father and son who were staring, but shrugged, knowing that she wouldn't even remove her yukata.

Using her magic, she levitated the eleven other kimonos and waited as the females surrounded her with strings, spinning her to and fro. Three males had to come in and hold her large braid up because it was too heavy for them to hold.

The females gave her a nod of respect when they realized how much extra weight she was lugging around.

She was happy to redress, always hating it when she was measured. It was as soon as she had finished putting on her kimonos that they reappeared with several dresses in hand. Another female had a green satchel and each female folded the dresses they had and gently placed them in the bag.

"They are made of a special cloth that doesn't stain. Simply drench them in water for a moment and set them up to dry and they will be fine in a day's time," one female with red hair said.

Kagome nodded and thanked them.

Legolas placed a kiss on her hand and Thranduil did the same. "Visit us whenever you wish. You shall be welcomed, Lady Kagome," he smiled charmingly, teeth seeming to twinkle.

She nodded and returned the smile, "Thank you for not trying to kill me. It means a lot."

Legolas handed her her bow and she slipped it over the shoulder that had the satchel. The two decided to escort her from the caves and she waved, eager to return and tell Smaug about her day.

When she reached the stone bridge, her body glowed a bright gold and she launched herself from the bridge, transforming to her demonic form. Shippo was sitting on her head and he waved as they flew away, leaving several awestruck Elves behind.

"The Elves are really interesting, when they aren't pointing weapons at you," Kagome said to the large dragon as she went through the bag. She smiled a little at the little shiny rock at the bottom of the bag. It was blue with silver flecks. She let Shippo have it, seeing as he couldn't remove his eyes from it.

"I think the king tried to hit on me," she stated while staring at the green dress in her hands.

"He hit you?" Smaug asked, voice sounding crisp and annoyed.

She looked up quickly, "No! Uh, he was all smiling when it was over and it looked weird when he kissed my palm and all. It's odd when men start acting like peacocks, trying to show off when they really aren't that interesting. They aren't more attractive than My Lord, so their actions weren't very attention getting. Thranduil and his son seemed a little full of themselves, but were nice in their own ways."

Smaug's eyes narrowed, the king and prince of he nearest Elves tried posturing in front of his female! Disgusting Elves!

Kagome smiled, not noticing Smaug's annoyance. Her new dresses were awesome! Other than her encounter with the spiders, she enjoyed her time in Mirkwood and she was told it was called.

She was sure that anywhere else to go would be too far unless she flew, so she resolved to ask Smaug about the surrounding area later. She fixed his with a look and started relaying her time in the village to him and snickered at his quips about the humans and their lifestyle.

For a moment, there was silence and she looked at him quickly, "Do you have a human form?"
