Chapter 4

Spiderman latched onto the bottom window of the building and looked through the window, seeing an anthropomorphic dog in a suit and an anthropomorphic rabbit. They were Sam and Max, respectively, and they were freelance police. Given their jobs, they were very likely to have been through a lot of different cases. Spiderman watched silently as Sam munched on some chips while Max shot at a target taped to a wall.

"When are we gonna get another case, Sam?" Max asked his partner impatiently. "It's been a few months since the Devil's Toybox adventure. Good thing I came out of that alive, otherwise I'd have no idea what your life would be like without me! Anyway, how long do we have to wait?" to answer his question, the phone rang, and the two immediately sprang to it to see who could reach it first. Sam easily kicked Max into the trashcan and answered the phone.

"Yes, hello? Yes? Yes? Uh huh? Great Scott, we're on our way!" Sam said, immediately hanging up.

"Who was it?" Max asked as he emerged from the trash can. "A friend from Chicago?"

"No, it was the commissioner, Max. He says there's been a higher amount of reports of ghosts than usual!" Sam explained.

"Amity Park? Isn't that where the famous ghost fighter Inviso-Bill lives?" Max asked.

Sam nodded. "The commissioner hired an 'anti-hero' to come along with us. He's getting paid the same amount we are."

The freelance police walks out of the office and heads downstairs and to outside to where their car was parked. As they were about to get in their DeSoto car, Spiderman suddenly landed on the hood. Rather than act shocked, Max and Sam greeted the web-slinging hero.

"Hey look, Max! It's our friend, Spidey!"

"How's it been, Spidey? Haven't seen you in a while."

"I'm good as usual, guys, just doing the usual hero stuff, you know? Listen, could you guys give me a lift to Amity Park? I have to be there for an assignment, too."

"Sure thing, Spidey! There's enough seats for us, you and the anti-hero guy we're supposed to bring with us!" Max replied.

"So where and who is this anti-hero supposed to be?" Spiderman asked them.

"Don't know. The commissioner who gave us our assignment didn't say where to meet him. Guess I should've asked," Sam replied. Suddenly, a voice was heard in the car:

"Are you guys ready?" he asked. All three of them jumped. "Introducing your anti-hero for hire, the mask, for your task, and the guy who won't die, Deadpool!" Said hero came from nowhere and landed in the seat next to Spiderman's.

"So are you guys Sam and Max, the freelance police? From what I heard from the Amity Park commissioner, I expected you guys to be more impressive! Haha, just kidding!" Deadpool then turned to Spiderman. "Well if it isn't Spidey! Long time no see, buddy!"

"So you're the anti-hero that the commissioner hired?" Sam asked Deadpool.

"Yup. As long as I'm getting paid for this, get to use my weapons on the enemies and get to travel, I'm game for anything!" Deadpool declared.

"I'm starting to like this guy, Sam!" Max told his partner.

"Quit using your friendship card and keep your gun ready!" Sam whispered in reply. "All right, guys," he added so that the people in the back could hear, "We're off to Amity Park to kick some ghost butt!" Sam had only just begun to drive out of the city when Deadpool asked:

"So, how long will it take till we get there?"

"Don't start that now!" Sam scolded him.

"Okay, fine, just sayin'."

"Hey, Sam, how do you take down a ghost? Won't bullets just go through them?" Max asked his partner.

"Maybe the citizens there have weapons capable of taking down ghosts," Sam suggested with a shrug.

"Why do I get the feeling that we're not the only one's going to Amity Park?" Spiderman asked the group.

"Spoilers, it's true!" Deadpool whispered at the readers through the fourth wall.

So sorry for the slow update! I've been starting school in the 1st two weeks and I'm already having workloads of it. The Sam and Max in my series are from the Telltale Games that gave us the three Sam and Max season games. Anyway, post a review!
