A/N: Sorry for the insanely long delay. Writers block sucks. I'm still really unsure of this chapter, but if I wait until I'm sure it's good, you may never see another chapter. Thanks for the reviews so far, and keep them coming. One last thing, I want to encourage everyone to read Birdhouse In Your Soul by Panda Hallows, it is by far the best Seddie story I have read lately.

As soon as he woke up Freddie felt Sam's breath on his neck. Her arm was still draped over him, and her legs were now tangled with his. Soon the memory of the previous night came back to him. He didn't understand why she offered to share the bed with him, why she wrapped her arm around him and got as close as she possibly could, or why she kissed him on the shoulder; but he knew one thing, he didn't want to move. There was something oddly comfortable about being this close to her. Naturally at that very moment she woke up. She quickly got out of bed and headed for the door. Freddie put on a shirt and followed her out into the living room and sat next to her on the couch.

"Morning."

Sam offered only a half wave in response followed by "Need food."

Suddenly Freddie remembered that Sam wasn't a morning person.

"I'll make breakfast, you go do whatever it is you do to get ready for the day."

"You cook?"

"Yeah. Nothing fancy, but I've learned a few things from cooking shows."

"Just don't give me food poisoning."

Sam took a shower and got dressed while Freddie was cooking. She returned to the kitchen/dining room just as he was placing two plates with eggs, bacon and toast on the table. She sat down and started eating while Freddie filled two glasses with juice.

"Impressive." Sam offered in between bites.

"Thanks. I was just wondering, what did you need me to go get from your old apartment?"

"Nothing major. CDs, DVDs, books."

"Books?" He couldn't help teasing her.

"Hey, I read." She shoved him playfully.

"Kidding. Anyway, I was going to go today. I was just making sure everything would fit in my car."

"Thanks." Sam smiled sincerely. "Can I invite Carly over to hang out while you're gone?"

"Of course. I'll leave a key in case you decide to go out and get back before I do."

After they finished eating Freddie got the address to Nick's apartment and a list of the things Sam left behind. As soon as he showered and got dressed he left, wanting to get it over with as soon as possible.

Carly arrived about 10 minutes after receiving Sam's call.

"That was quick."

"I wanted to hear all about your first night as Freddie's roommate. How was it?"

"It was better than I expected."

"Oh really?"

"Dinner was fun. We watched TV after that. He cooked for me this morning, and now he's at Nick's apartment getting the rest of my stuff and beating him up or something."

"He cooked for you? He's beating up Nick?" Carly's expression was a mixture of surprise and worry.

"Yes he cooked, and probably not...But that would be so cool!" Sam's face lit up as she imagined Freddie kicking Nick's butt.

"Sam!"

As their conversation continued Carly began surveying Freddie's apartment and working out the logistics of her two best friends living together. It didn't take her very long to figure out that there was only one bed, and Freddie's couch was not exactly made for sleeping.

"Hey, where did you sleep last night?"

"Freddie's bed."

"Where did he sleep?"

"His bed." Sam hoped that by being casual about it she could prevent Carly from jumping to conclusions. No such luck.

"Wait...You slept in his bed...together?"

"Sort of." Sam blushed

"What exactly does that mean? Sam, did you have rebound sex with Freddie?" Carly was only half kidding.

"No! God, Carly! What the hell? No!"

"Okay, okay, I was just asking." Carly couldn't help but laugh at Sam's reaction, but her tone quickly became more serious. "You know...It would be okay if you did."

"Did what? Hooked up with Freddie?"

"Yeah."

"Never gonna happen."

"I'm just saying, nothing ever happened between me and Freddie. If something does happen with you two, it's okay with me."

"Carly, Freddie and I are just friends. He's letting me stay here because he felt sorry for me. He let me sleep in his bed because that's what Freddie does. He puts everyone else first."

"So how did it happen? Did he offer to share the bed with you?"

"No. He offered me the bed alone. He said he would sleep on the couch."

"So how did he end up in bed with you?"

"Well, I could hear him moving around a lot trying to get comfortable, and his bed is huge, it was stupid for him to be uncomfortable in his own apartment, so-"

"You invited him to sleep in the bed with you?" Carly interrupted.

"Sort of..." Sam's face turned an even brighter shade of red.

"So how did you sleep? Did you draw a line down the middle of his bed or build a wall of pillows to keep him away from you?"

"Not exactly..." Sam's face was beginning to resemble a cherry lollipop.

"Sam! Why are you being so difficult? Forget it. Since you won't give me details you're just going to have to show me." Carly grabbed Sam by the wrist and practically dragged her into Freddie's bedroom. Sam knew that it was pointless to argue so she told Carly how to lay so that she was positioned exactly how Freddie had been the night before, then she got into the bed and draped her arm around Carly just like she'd done to Freddie.

"Cozy." Carly said with a giggle as soon as both girls were laying down.

"Yeah."

"Anything else?"

Sam took a deep breathe before she spoke.

"I kissed him...On the shoulder."

"Okay, not where I usually kiss boys, but I suppose that works too. Why?"

"Seemed like a good idea at the time?"

"Sam! Stop being difficult. I came over so we could talk, so talk."

"I don't know why I did it, Carly. It just happened. I was laying here with my arm around him, which, by the way, I can't explain either, and the next thing I knew my lips were pressed up against his shoulder."

"What did he do?"

"He got all stiff and..." She immediately regretted her phrasing as a grin spread across her brunette friend's face "You have a dirty mind, Carly Shay."

Carly's expression immediately changed to one that said "Who, me?"

Neither girl said anything for a few minutes, until Sam suddenly remembered something from the night before.

"Have you ever seen Freddie without a shirt?"

"I guess, when we went swimming. Why?"

"He sleeps without a shirt."

"Oh really?"

Sam answered with a half smile and raised eyebrows.

"Hot?"

"He ain't Gibby, that's for sure."

Carly laughed at her blond friend's unexpected revelation that the geeky former iCarly tech producer had grown into something rather nice to look at. She noticed something in Sam's eyes that she wasn't sure she'd ever seen before.

Freddie tried his best to make his trip to retrieve Sam's belongings uneventful. He introduced himself to Nick and quietly filled a duffel bag that he'd had in the trunk of his car with Sam's stuff. When he had everything he turned and headed for the door after an awkward nod in Nick's direction. After opening the door he paused in the doorway for a second before turning to face Sam's ex-boyfriend.

"What the hell were you thinking, man?"

"Mind your own business."

"It became my business when Sam showed up at my apartment crying. I've known Sam for a very long time and until last night I had never seen her really cry. Do you know how hard it is for Sam to trust people? Her dad left when she was just a little kid, and her mom may as well have not been there at all. She basically raised herself, other than what little help she was willing to accept from from friends like Carly and her brother Spencer."

"And you."

"What?"

"Carly, Carly's brother Spencer, and you."

"Not really, no. Sam and I didn't have that kind of relationship."

"What kind of relationship did you have?"

"It was complicated."

"Explain it to me."

"No thanks."

"You were in love with her."

"Not even close."

"Really? Because from what I've been able to piece together, you were in love with Carly until you and Sam had a "Get it over with" first kiss, and then suddenly you weren't interested in Carly anymore."

For half a second Freddie was stunned that Sam had told anyone about that kiss.

"Look, I wasn't in love with Sam. I stopped being interested in Carly because she wasn't interested in me, and my feelings for her made our friendship awkward. As for kissing Sam, it meant nothing. It was, as you said, a "get it over with" kiss." Freddie paused for a second before continuing. "But if I had been in love with her, I wouldn't have cheated on her. I don't have it in me to be that much of a selfish, heartless, asshole."

The next few seconds happened in slow motion for Freddie. Nick pulled his fist back and swung at Freddie with everything he had. Freddie instinctively ducked, and before he realized what was happening his fist connected with Nick's jaw. Nick dropped to the floor, and, ignoring the fact that he had heard his own wrist crack, Freddie grabbed the bag with Sam's stuff and ran out to his car.

After an unplanned visit to the emergency room Freddie had been gone over 3 hours, much longer than he had planned. When he got inside his apartment he quickly took Sam's stuff into the bedroom before joining Sam and Carly on the couch.

"Hey, what took you so..." Sam stopped mid sentence when she saw the blue cast that ended just below his elbow. "Freddie, what happened to your arm?"

"Would you believe I slammed it in the car door?"

"I don't think so. Try again."

"Look, it's no big deal. Things got out of hand and-"

"You hit him?!" Carly shouted excitedly. "Way to go, Freddie."

Sam, on the other hand, wasn't so thrilled. She simply shook her head and and headed into Freddie's bedroom, slamming the door as hard as she could.

"I don't understand. Since when does Sam have a problem with violence?" Freddie asked to no one in general, forgetting that Carly was next to him.

"She doesn't have a problem with violence. She has a problem with other people, especially boys, fighting her battles." Carly hesitated for a second, unsure of how much she should reveal about her earlier conversation with Sam. "Give her time, she'll calm down. And by the way, whatever you were doing before you went to Nick's, keep doing it. She liked that."
