Hey! So, I was talking to one of my friends a little while ago, and she said that the last chapter ended almost the exact same as one of the Twilight books. I'd just like to put it out there that I've never read any of the Twilight books, and I don't think I ever plan on reading them. T'was just a fluke, my friends. Haha, well anyway, here's the next chapter, and I hope you've been enjoying this story! (Which isn't about vampires. Yet.) I own nothing other than Sarah and Chelsea.
I felt like something was wrong when the storm rolled in, but I knew that something had to be wrong when Chelsea didn't meet me at the beach. While I knew there were risks to going any farther into the camp than I already was, I decided that I needed to check on her. And with Callen around, that was all I needed to justify myself.
They hadn't done anything to the borders of the camp to keep me out, yet, so I was technically still allowed in the camp. Even after everything that had happened, I was still a demigod, after all. Camp Half-Blood, safe haven for half-bloods.
Not anymore. They hadn't kept her safe. Maybe someone just started talking to her and she ended up having to go to dinner, tonight. Maybe this is nothing. I thought, trying to convince myself. I couldn't believe it. I just had this overwhelming feeling that something just had to be wrong. I walked up towards the biggest cabin, Zeus' cabin. She was the only one who lived there. Thalia was part of the Hunters of Artemis now, and she didn't have any other siblings. She was alone.
I remembered my own time in the Camp; hardly having a place to sleep, the crammed cabin always getting the newest campers who hadn't been claimed yet, along with his own children. Unlike Chelsea, I had so many half-siblings⦠I had been the counsellor.
They used to look up to you, Luke.
I quickly shook that thought out of my head, focusing on my objective. I knew that everyone would be at dinner, right now, but I honestly hoped that she actually wouldn't have gone. It would've explained why she hadn't met me at the beach, but I was just so nervous that I didn't want to wait until she came back. But if I needed to, I would wait forever here for her. She's probably fine, Luke.
It was her giggle that told me otherwise.
I quickly ducked into the shadows of the Zeus cabin, turning and looking behind me. My eyes widened as I saw them there, coming out of the Hermes cabin. My father's cabin. He had one arm around her shoulders and was twisting a piece of her hair between his fingers, and she was hugging him around his torso. I immediately had to question if that was all an act; if it was just another thing that he had made her do, but everything else said that it wasn't. She looked so genuinely happy.
I blinked, staring at them. I stared at her, looking for any explanation in her face, but found nothing. I suddenly remembered my conversion with Callen. Callen, the son of Hecate. He had told me he wanted me to regret betraying everyone and crossing him, and using Chelsea was a pretty decent way to start that. This had to be a potion, or an illusion, or something.
I made a decision in an instant, before sprinting across the camp. There were a million and one reasons for anyone here to kill me at any moment, but I ignored that and jumped up the steps of the Aphrodite cabin, and went inside. The Zeus cabin wasn't as bad, since Chelsea was the only one who lived there, but the chances of me running into someone here was much higher. Once I was inside, I quickly spotted Sarah, and without saying a word and keeping my head low, I grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her after me. She didn't struggle at all, and I pulled her into the woods, crouching down behind some bushes. She did too.
"Okay, I know you don't know me, but I'm-" I started, before she nodded.
"Luke, I know. Luke Castellan." she said, and I raised an eyebrow. She chuckled slightly. "Oh, don't be so surprised. When I met Chelsea, and on our way here, I could tell that she thought about someone that she really loved and cared about a lot. I'm a daughter of Aphrodite, y'know? I can just feel these things. I finally got her to spill about you a little while ago, and since she was always so withdrawn and quiet all the time, I thought it was adorable how much she cared about you. And when you showed up, I can feel the exact same emotions with you, about her. I know that you're here about her, so that means that you have to be Luke."
My expression softened and I smiled, for a second, before I nodded. "Yeah, I am." I said. "And I guess you probably also already know about Callen, too. Chelsea has been blackmailed by him ever since both of you arrived here, because he saved her life and he said that if she didn't do everything he wanted, he would take that back. I've been coming here almost every night for a while, now, and I've been taking her away from here so she'd at leave be safe for the night, but tonight she didn't show up. I was worried about her so I went to her cabin, to see if she was alright, but when I turned around I saw her with her arms around Callen, looking like they were the happiest couple alive. It has to be a spell or a potion or something, because she doesn't love him. I know she doesn't. So I thought since you're a daughter of Aphrodite, and you know Chelsea, you might be able to help."
"I knew something was up!" she said. "This morning, she had a completely different personality than usual. When I met her on the way here, I kind of got used to all her habits and her personality, but the Chelsea that I saw this morning was not the same girl. She was all talkative and cheerful, and she hardly ate anything at breakfast, because she kept talking about how much she loved Callen and how amazing Callen was to anything that would listen. And, her eyes changed color."
"Wait, what?" I questioned.
She nodded. "Well, you know how her eyes have always been that weird, light green color?" she asked.
Her eyes were one of the first things that I recognized about her when I saw her again. "Yeah?" I said.
"Well, this morning, we had hand-to-hand combat scheduled at the same time. Since she's the only one in her cabin, she's always scheduled to have activities at the same time as another big cabin, so then she can pick a partner and she won't have to do everything alone. Today she was with me, and we partnered up, but I noticed that instead of her regular green eyes, her eyes were like, candy-apple red." she explained. "And I actually won our fight, which has never happened."
And at that moment, we agreed. We would find a way to break the spell that Callen had undoubtedly put on her, and we would save Chelsea.
And, that's it! Sorry about the short chapter, but I have a question for you before I can keep writing the next chapter⦠How do you want to break the spell?
1. True Love's Kiss
2. Someone dies for her. (In a Beauty and the Beast-type way, I guess. Person A would be killed for her, or Person B could be sacrificed for her.)
3. Other (You can Private Message me with your ideas, if you want it to be a surprise.)
Pleaaaase answer. I'll come up with something if you don't, but I would really like to let you guys have some say in how this comes to closure. So, PLEASE REVIEW AND ANSWER!
