Chapter 4: One Broken and One Relieved
The next day, a trio of agents stormed into the Kryptonian's cell, and dragged her out, towards the torture chamber. Once they got there, the agents chained Kara to a chair, in front of another chair, where someone was taped, and had a sac over his head. "Wh-what's… what's going on?" Kara asked, confused. One of the agents took the sac off the other person's head, and Kara gasped, looking at Kyle. "Kyle? What's going on?"
"After I… euh… came and helped you heal, last time, they found out… about me helping you…" Kyle said, and the door opened, revealing Liliane Luthor.
"Well, well, well, looks like everyone is here…" Liliane said, smirking.
"What do you want from us?!" Kara asked, confused and mad.
"For one, I want you," Luthor pointed at Kara, "to break, and you," she pointed to Kyle, "to die."
"No… please… no… I'll do anything for you, but please… don't kill him…!" Kara pleaded, shocked.
"Oh please, we both know the only way for me to get what I want is for me to kill that betraying bastard."
"No!" Kara yelled, shacking. She couldn't move much, unless she wanted to have burnt wrists. They had used kryptonite cuffs, as usual, and like in her cell.
"Yes!" Liliane said, choosing a weapon to kill her treater, finally choosing a dagger.
"No… no… please… don't do this! You don't have to kill him!" Kara pleaded again, as Liliane walked towards Kyle.
"It's time," Liliane said, from behind her treater.
"Escape," Kyle said, before Liliane Luthor stabbed him in the jugular, causing Kara to scream.
"No!" Kara yelled, tears flowing on her face, struggling to get out of the chains, even if it was kryptonite.
"Take her back," Liliane ordered, and the agents unchained her, before taking her to her cell.
Back in her cell, Kara was rolled in a ball, crying, with her eyes closed. "No… no… not him too… no…" she whispered, unable to believe Kyle was dead. Unbeknown to Kara, Liliane Luthor was in the room, smirking triumphantly at her prisoner, she had finally won, Kara was broken, well she was extremely sad, she needed to know if she was really broken.
The next day, to test her prisoner, she asked Marcus to punch Kara as hard as he could, during their torture session, and Kara didn't even flinch, or whimper, she just kept her eyes closed. When it was done, and Kara was in her cell, Luthor watched Kara sitting on her bed as if she had a normal day, and go to bed, ignoring the bruises she had gotten today. "She's ready," Liliane smirked, closing the computer, and headed home. It had been a long day for her as well, they had a torture session that lasted most of the day, so she was tired.
Kara had been beaten a lot during the day, mostly until she bled. While she laid on her bed, she thought that she might've started bleeding internally, since the punches were hard, and Marcus hit more than once on one spot, to increase the pain. As she fell asleep, silent tears appeared in her eyes.
A few hours after Kara woke up, the next day, agents came, and took her to the torture chamber, again. Like when they dragged her back to her cell, she showed no emotions. "Wh-what do you want from me, today?" Kara asked, once she was chained up, and Liliane came in front of her.
"We are here to test you, Mrs. Danvers," Liliane said, toying with a knife, which she planted in Kara's thigh, but Kara barely reacted.
"What was that for!?" Kara managed to yell out.
"As I said, I am testing you, see if you are ready…" Liliane said, smirking.
"Ready? Ready for what?"
"Ready for Cadmus."
"Why? What does Cadmus want with me?" Kara asked, again, still confused.
"What is Cadmus?" Liliane asked, instead, removing the knife from Kara's thigh, making her take a deep breath.
"It's an organization created to kill aliens…" Kara answered, breathing hard.
"Wrong. Now, I will ask one last time, and if you don't answer correctly, that knife will enter your body in a really painful way, so, I'll ask again, what is Cadmus?"
"A… an organization created to save the planet from aliens, because Earth is for humans…" Kara said, looking down.
"Exactly, now, what is your new purpose for Cadmus?"
"I uh… my purpose is to help Cadmus get rid of all aliens on Earth…" Kara said, showing no more emotions.
"Excellent, good girl," Liliane smirked, patting Kara's cheek, before signaling to her agents to put Kara back in her cell.
Back at the DEO, Cisco and Winn were typing on their computers, when Cisco gasped, an idea just popping in his mind. "What is it?" Winn asked, curious.
"I just got an idea, I need to get Barry and Alex," Cisco said, running to the conference room, where they were talking with J'onn.
"What is it, Cisco?" Barry asked, confused at the sudden arrival of his friend. "Did you guys find something?"
"No, but I just got an idea," Cisco turned to Alex. "Do you have something of Kara's?"
"Yeah, but why?" she asked, confused.
"You want to vibe her? Why didn't you think of it sooner? If you did, she would already be right here with us!" Barry shouted, mad that Cisco hadn't thought about it from the beginning.
"I did, but I thought they would be able to find her without my help, but now, I guess I have no other choice. I'll go get my Vibe gear," Cisco said, leaving the room.
"I'll get Kara's extra shirt," Alex said, also leaving.
"I'll get Oliver…" Barry said, speeding towards the bunks the Earth-1 trios.
Once everyone was in the main room, Alex gave the shirt to Cisco, who was now wearing his goggles, and he took the shirt, toying with it…
Cisco gasped, and looked around the room, and saw a cell, where he saw a familiar blond girl, laying down on her bed, and a man entered the cell, a needle in his hand. He placed his hand over Kara's mouth, waking her up, and making the blond panic, struggling to get free…
"No!" Cisco gasped, coming back to reality, and everyone was looking at him in anticipation, and worry.
"So? What happened? What did you see?" Barry asked, stepping closer to his friend.
"I found her… she was in a cell, there was someone else though, he had a needle in his hand, and was about to stick in her neck, but I snapped out of it before I could see it. Since I know where Kara is, I need only one person to come, someone quick, someone like…"
"Me," Barry said, coming closer to his friend. "I'll help you, Cisco."
"Thanks Barr," Cisco said, smirking. "I'll need the medbay too, Alex, Kara didn't seem well, so get the medbay ready for when Barry comes back with Kara."
Two seconds later, Barry ran to his stuff, and came back in his Flash suit.
It happened very fast, a breach opened, and a trail of yellow lightning came out of it, stopping on the other side of the cell. "Oh, my god…" Barry sighed, looking at Kara in concern, as she was seizing in her bed, her veins in her neck green. Not thinking twice, Barry grabbed Kara, and his trail of lightning passing through the bars and into the breach.
Four seconds after Barry came out of the breach, Alex disappeared from her spot, and reappeared in the medbay. "What the…?" Alex asked, looking at Barry.
"Later, Alex. But for now, take care of Kara," Barry said, pointing at the seizing blond.
"Oh, god… Kara…" Alex said, panicking. "What happened to her?"
"You heard Cisco, a man planted a needle in her neck. But I saw the green veins in her neck, I think they injected kryptonite in her system. How do you save her?" Barry asked, also panicking.
"I need the sun lamps, now!" Alex said, turning to the doctors. "I also need to take a radiography, when the kryptonite is out of her system," Alex explained to Barry, who nodded, before heading out to explain everything to their friends.
"So, is she ok?" Cisco asked, once Barry came back from the medbay.
"It's bad, guys… not bleeding to death, bad, but poisoned to death, bad…" Barry said, sighing. "Where's Ollie?" Barry asked, looking around.
"Still in the bunks, it happened so fast, we didn't have time to think of getting Oliver," Cisco said, and Barry ran towards the bunks, and two seconds later, Oliver was standing there, in front of them.
"W-what is going on? Did you find a location yet?" Oliver asked, looking at his friends from Earth-1.
"Non, we found her, we found Kara," Barry said, and Oliver's face lightened up.
"Are you serious, you found her? Where is she?" Oliver asked, looking around the room.
"Yeah, she's in the medbay, but she's seizing, Alex is looking out for her, making sure she wakes up soon," Barry assured him, and Oliver sighed, relieved.
"Can I see her?" Oliver asked, looking over Barry's shoulder, and towards the medbay, concerned.
"Not yet, she needs to rest, and stay under the sun lamps," Barry explained, and Oliver nodded, understanding what his friend meant, Kara was still weak, and unconscious, she wasn't in position to have any guests.
A few minutes later, Alex came out of the medbay, a relieved smile on her face.
"Is she ok?" Oliver asked her, making Barry turn around, sharing the same concerned eyes as Oliver.
"She stopped seizing a few minutes after we placed the sun lamps, now that her heart rate is normal, all she needs is rest," both men sighed, relieved. "But, there is something I need to say to all of you, so we need to assemble everyone."
"I'm on it…" Barry said, and eight seconds later, every Earth-1 visitor, Winn, J'onn and Alex were together in a conference room.
"What is it?" Cisco asked, worried.
"It's Kara…" Alex said, looking down.
"What is it? Is she ok?" Winn asked, confused, he thought they had it under control.
"Her heart rate is normal, for her, but there is another problem… we checked if she had any problems, and she has internal bleeding, and scar tissue that hasn't scared well, bruises on her abdomen, bones that haven't healed properly, and she had kryptonite poisoning, but it is healing quickly with the sun lamps," Alex said, tears in her eyes, as did everyone in the room.
"Hey, euh… did anyone call the teams on Earth-1?" Cisco asked, breaking the silence.
"No, and we won't, and they can't know," Oliver said, stepping forward.
"Why not, Ollie? They could help us with Cadmus!" Barry exclaimed, going to Oliver.
"Because, I don't want them to know I'm alive!"
"It's not about you, Ollie! It's about protecting our friend against a group of bad people that want to kill her!" Cisco added.
"Fine, breach to Earth-1, and ask my old team, and the Legends for help, and only come back with them, not before," Oliver ordered, and Cisco nodded, taking his gear.
"We need the help," Barry told Oliver, patting his back, while Oliver sighed.
Cisco came back with his gear, and nodded to his friends, held up his hand, and opened a breach, before jumping through.
Back in STAR Labs, Caitlin Snow was getting worried about Barry and Cisco, who had taken Oliver to Earth-38 a while ago. Suddenly, the breach room alert sounded, and she ran towards the room, the cold gun in hand. She was about to shoot, when she saw Cisco jump through. "Cisco! Where's Barry?" Caitlin asked, shocked to see only her best friend coming out of the breach.
"We need help, something happened, and Barry asked me to come here and ask help from the Legends and Team Arrow," Cisco said, going towards the cortex, followed by Caitlin.
"Do you need anything else? Wally can come with you guys?" Caitlin asked, once they got to the cortex.
"No, Wally needs to protect the city, and you and Iris should help him, can you call the Legends? I'll breach to Star City," Cisco said, and Caitlin nodded, going to a computer to send a message to the Legends, while Cisco opened a breach, to go to Star City.
John Diggle was working on something back at ARGUS, when he got a message that a friend was asking for him. "Cisco? What are you doing here?" John asked, once he saw who was there.
"I need your help," Cisco said, in a low voice. "I passed by the bunker, but you guys weren't there, and I knew you were with ARGUS now, so I came to see you."
"Yeah… since Oliver died, we were forced to stop being vigilantes, after the anti-vigilante law, so I kept working for ARGUS."
"Well, like I said, I need your help. Let me rephrase that, Oliver needs your help," John looked at Cisco in surprise, then looked around, before leading Cisco outside of the facility.
"What do you mean, Oliver needs my help?" John asked, confused.
"He's alive, Barry and I brought him to Earth-38, since he was believed dead, so we thought it would be a better idea if he went away from here. But now, something happened, and we need all the help we can get."
"I'll talk to Lyla, to get me a short leave of absence, I'll text you when I get it. But first, here is the addresses where you can find the others, but don't expect Felicity to come. Since the day Oliver said he was the Green Arrow, she's been in a witness protection program, new name, new life, she's away from here, so she's off limits from anyone from her past," John said, writing something down, and giving Cisco the piece of paper.
"Thanks," Cisco opened a breach, and left, hoping they would have help them fight Cadmus. After he breached to the café in Star City, Cisco received a text from Caitlin, saying that the Legends were coming soon, so he looked at the paper John gave him, and looked at the addresses for Wild Dog, Black Canary, and Mr. Terrific. He wasn't sure if he wanted to involve them, knowing that the two teams didn't get along very well, in the end. After debating in his mind, he decided to only include the ones they could trust, so while he waited for John's message, Cisco took some coffee.
After his very large coffee, Cisco finally received a message from John, telling him to meet him in front of ARGUS. After leaving the café, Cisco went into an alley, and breached at John's location. "You ready?" the Hispanic man asked the ARGUS agent.
"Yeah," John nodded, showing Cisco his guns in his coat.
"So, let's go," Cisco said, opening a breach to STAR Labs.
"So, you didn't exactly tell us what was going on, why does Cisco need us?" Sara asked Caitlin, as they were waiting for Cisco and Diggle.
"I didn't tell you, because I don't know, he just came here and said he needed the Legends and the rest of Team Arrow."
"I need you all because Oliver's still alive, and we need your help," Cisco said, entering the cortex with John.
"Care to explain?" Sara asked, coming closer to Cisco, a very confused look in her eyes.
"When I found out Oliver wasn't dead, I couldn't let them burry him alive, so I breached him to our medbay, with Barry's help. And then, when he recovered, Barry and I decided to take Oliver to Earth-38, with Kara, since she told us there was no Oliver Queen on her Earth. But, when we got there, we found out that Kara was missing, so we helped them finding her…" Cisco explained, trailing off.
"Do you need our help finding Kara? We owe her, since she helped us twice with a problem," Sara asked, determined to help their friend.
"No, we found her, I vibed her, and Barry sped inside to get her… she's getting better, but I can't exactly explain her condition, I don't know the medical details, so you'll ask her doctor when we get there, they are waiting for us."
"Wait, wait? We're going on another Earth? Awesome!" Ray exclaimed, very excited.
"Yeah… so let's go, we need to leave, now," Cisco said, opening a breach to the DEO.
"Let's go!" Sara said, as her Legends entered the breach, before she and John followed, and Cisco came last, closing the breach.
