Ch. 4 Guess what!

Nico had gone to the flower shop and applied, he was happy to get an interview right away and was thrilled when he actually got the job. He said a silent thanks for the fact that his stepmother had seen it necessary to teach him about plants and floral arrangements, it had definitely helped in landing this job.

He was to start the next day so for today he would just head home, then he remembered that Will had said that they could hang out when he got home from work. Nico was in such a good mood now that he had a job, he couldn't wait to tell Will about it over coffee when he saw him.

Nico headed for home (he found it amazing how easily he could think of his new apartment as home so soon) and decided that he would relax before Will came over, since he didn't have to worry much about unpacking right now he was just going to clean up and make sure that everything was organized.

Nico got back to the building that he now lived in and held the door for someone as they were leaving, he wondered if he'd meet anymore of his neighbors and if any of them were as kind as Will. Lost in thought he headed up to his floor and when he reached his suite he fished out his keys and opened the door.

As he stepped inside he thought something seemed off but he couldn't place what seeing as how he hadn't exactly memorized where everything was just yet, so he just chalked it up to being unused to his new apartment and the placement of his belongings so he took off his shoes and jacket and decided to lay down on the couch for a bit and get back his energy, after all of the walking around he had done so far this afternoon he felt a little worn-out.

Will was really happy when he saw that it was the end of his shift at last, he loved his job sure but sometimes it just got to be a little too much and was enough to drive a person crazy like when a customer claims that they got the wrong order earlier in the day when a different person was on till but didn't have any proof of purchase in which case there was nothing he could do for them, though it might help them if said person didn't come in every few days with the same story and no money but demanding a free drink…

Other such customers were the ones that claimed that the people in front of them were holding them up when they needed to get going in a hurry but then they just stood there trying to decide what to order like the world had no choice but to wait for them.

Will was thankful when they only had a small rush that didn't take very long to get through and now all of that was over because his shift was done and he was able to go see his new (very attractive) neighbor and maybe get to know him more though Will wasn't going to go rushing into things, after all they had only just met. He had a feeling that he and Nico would be able to get along very well though. So with that in mind he said goodbye to his co-workers as he clocked out for the day and grabbed his things before leaving.

When Will got home he decided to take a quick shower and change before going next door to see if Nico wanted to come over. After getting dressed he quickly made sure that his place wasn't a mess and once satisfied he went and knocked on Nico's door. He was happy to see that his neighbor appeared to be in a great mood that afternoon, well evening now.

"Hey, you still up for coffee?" Will asked cheerily.

"Sure, let's go." Nico stepped out into the hallway and locked his door behind him before he followed Will next door to his place. When they got inside Will led the way to his kitchen and offered Nico a seat as he went to start on the coffee.

"I thought I'd make it when you got here and we could sit and talk since we only had a short amount of time before." he said as he came over to the table and sat down. "You seem to be in a good mood, did something happen since I saw you earlier?" Will asked as he noticed the excited look in Nico's eyes.

Nico nodded and a small smile touched his lips before he spoke. "I got a job, I came home and was searching online when I came across a posting for a local flower shop not too far from here so I went in to apply and got an interview instantly, I got the job and I'll be starting tomorrow." His smile was bigger now and Will could easily see how pleased he was.

"So you're a fan of flowers then?" Will found this interesting, he wouldn't have tagged Nico as a flower lover. He wondered what else he would learn about his new neighbor that was more than he seemed. "That's pretty cool; I don't really know much about them." he continued to listen as he made the coffee.

"My stepmother was really into gardening and for whatever reason saw fit to teach me about plants and arranging flowers. I'm just glad it's actually useful." Nico said with a shrug. "I also know the meaning behind a lot of different flowers and what to put together for different occasions such as weddings or Mother's Day, that sort of thing."

Will was definitely impressed by that, he knew that flowers had a kind of language but he only knew a couple of the meanings so he was impressed that Nico had this skill.

"They gave me a regular schedule so I won't have to worry about odd hours or anything." Nico said.

"That's good; it's not very healthy to work irregular shifts all the time, it's better to have a rhythm."

Nico nodded. "Yeah I did shift work at my last job and it was horrible, I felt like I was dying when I ended up working almost two weeks straight. The three eleven hour shifts in a row nearly did me in."

Will's jaw dropped as he brought over a cup of coffee and handed it to Nico once it was ready.

"How is that legal? Isn't there some rule that you can't work that much in one go?" Nico shrugged as if this was no big deal at all.

"Loophole, there were multiple locations and it only goes on record for the location that you're at how long you worked there for, so if I was sent to another location mid shift it would only show the part I was at each one for individually, that and I'd be scheduled my full days at the main one and the rest at the other so it didn't show."

"That's not right."

Nico said nothing as he started drink his coffee but Will was sure that the other agreed.

"Things should be better here though; it's a standalone business and only operates for about ten hours a day six days a week, so no drastic overtime there." Will has happy to hear that at least.

"Well if it's close by maybe I'll stop in and maybe buy some flowers."

Nico looked at him with an expression that Will couldn't read at first but it changed to a teasing look.

"Got a girlfriend you're trying to impress or something?"

Will smiled into his own coffee. "No girlfriend, but there is someone I'd like to impress."

Nico arched a brow at him but changed the subject to school in the fall. Will was glad that they were able to talk easily with one another despite not knowing each other long, he was really glad he had talked to Nico at McDonald's.

Well I hope that went okay, the story will pick up soon, warning there is going to be stalking and other things to come so I'll give a warning before it happens just so you are aware. If there's anything that I should fix let me know so that I can, sorry that this is going kind of slow right now.

Please let me know what you think.
