Holly - Yeah I'm an awful person... BOO~
Chapter 4 – Fucking weirdos
POV – Yamamoto Kotomi
Injecting them both with tranquilliser darts had been the easy part, now she had to call the 'oh-so-high-and-mighty Captain Law'. She sighed and pulled a small snail from her pocket and entered the number upon it's shell grudgingly.
While the denden mushi rang Bepo appeared from behind a nearby building and came towards where she, Penguin and Shachi stood in an ominous circle surrounding the pair they had captured.
She tapped her foot impatiently and waited for the dreaded Captain to answer. Meanwhile the large polar bear sniffed the redhead at her feet uncomfortably.
Kotomi felt like scowling and reminding him that 'he's supposed to be the bigger predator' but instead she just rolled her eyes at his cowardice.
To her delight it wasn't the expected ass hole to answer but instead a highly intoxicated Kurt – cartographer of the Heart Pirates. "Yoohoo~" The voice slurred, the denden mushi adopting a face of disorientated bliss.
"I got them," She said simply, digging the toe of her boot into the soft earth beneath her feet.
Kurt took in a deep rasping breath, the snail in her palm visibly paled and she glared at it knowing her expression would be passed through to the other end of the line.
She wasn't in the mood to hear one of her crew mates vomit due to self-inflicted stupidity.
"Where are you?" A different voice asked this time, probably having snatched the snail from Kurt who she could hear choking in the background. Law.
She frowned sourly, resting her free hand on her hip. "Near the Church," She stated firmly, she looked up disinterestedly to the old building; the tip of it's steeple caught among the clouds. She wasn't in the mood to play the usual games with the sadistic man who was currently taking his sweet time.
She glanced at Bepo who was still staring warily at the useless drugged body of the girl. "Bepo, you're such a chicken-shit it's unreal," She reprimanded.
The polar bear looked up and a depressed shadow loomed over his expression. "I'm sorry," He said. Kotomi was sure if he had a bottom lip he'd pout for all he's worth.
She heard Law snort from his side of the line, the denden mushi smirking in a way that irritated her beyond belief.
"On our way," he said simply, the snail closed it's eyes with a soft click signalling the call had been ended.
Sighing she looked down again at the girl, she withheld the temptation to mess with her. She's much prettier than I thought she'd be... She sneered.
She tucked the sleeping snail into her pocket and folding her arms over her chest, jealously gnawing away in her stomach painfully.
POV – Saotome Mizu
It smells funny.
She sniffed the air again and recoiled, scrunching up her face.
Opened her eyes she was met with a steel ceiling. She tried sitting up and winced, her ribs hurt to the point she felt like vomiting. Choking on a dry retch she shut her eyes, everything was either sore or it ached...
She turned quickly and noticed she was surrounded by several men carrying lethal weapons. A trap?! Her eyes widened and she turned back to the man who was now approaching slowly, he looked strangely familiar...
He grinned darkly at her, revealing teeth that were hard to forget. She took deep breaths, she was starting to panic. They started to close in around her and she whipped her head round several times to try and find a weak spot. None existent. Apparently it had been a foolish to think she could have gotten away so easily...
Images of the previous night flashed through her mind and she sat bolt upright, ignoring the pain.
Kairoseki cuffs chained her arm to the bed merciless grip and her eyes widened, her heart pounded frantically in her chest. She tumbled from the side of the cot, and landed in a crouch. Thankfully she was still in her original clothes.
She stared at his back as he pulled her away swiftly down a dark alleyway, her gaze was returned by the eyes of the Heart Pirates' Jolly Rodger.
Her eyebrows knitted together, her memory of the previous night was still foggy at best but one thing was clear.
Pirates!
The bed was bolted to the floor and her axe was nowhere in sight. She scowled, looking over the room she saw a tray to the far side of the room on a trolley. On it glittered scalpels and other implements that her mind couldn't comprehend in it's cotton wool state.
A single thought seeped through her consciousness with sudden clarity.
Where's Kanzaki?
POV – Trafalgar Law
It was interesting how much the brunette squirmed under his gaze. Law leaned forward to rest his forearms on his desk, fingers linking together.
He smirked at the other male who continued to frown unhappily.
Hmmmm...
"Well," Law drawled, making the man flinch. His smirk grew from the entertaining show of fear he was being given. "Tell me a little about yourself, Kanzaki," Law said, grinning as the brunette's startling green eyes widened in confusion.
Ah, so you hadn't lied to Penguin about your real name...
"I-I don't understand," Kanzaki said, shivering slightly. His cuffed hands clenched together so tightly Law could see the knuckles start to whiten.
Law sighed and pushed away from the desk, lifting his two feet to rest on top of it instead he folded his hands behind his head. He hoped that relaxing his own posture would encourage the other man to speak.
"Well," Law said, opting to close his eyes so the man wouldn't feel the pressure of his gaze he continued. "I'm just curious. After all... You were going to call the marines, weren't you?" Law stated, he wasn't going to leave room for the other male to waste any more of his time.
Kanzaki took in sharp breath and Law smirked, clearly he wasn't expecting that. He could practically hear the brunette's mind buzzing with sudden questions as to what Law's motive was, but he didn't fire any of them...
"We weren't," Kanzaki breathed after a while, making Law open his eyes to stare at him in surprise. He was staring intensely at Law's carpeted floor. "It's not often that pirates visit our island," he explained.
Law removed his legs from the table and sat in his original position, a huge smirk on his face.
"Interesting," Law said, gaining Kanzaki's attention. They stared at each other, Law was thoughtful while Kanzaki was wary of his sudden change.
Yellow clashed with green in a silent battle.
"What exactly is the devil fruit power that you possess, Kanzaki?" Law asked, his attention fully focussed on the man before him.
The man's eyes widened and Law grinned, satisfied that his answer would be interesting from the description he had already been given.
POV – Saotome Mizu
What do I dooooooo?
Mizu internally whined, dragging her feet down the corridor in frustration. She had no idea where Kanzaki was and she was starting to worry, not to mention she felt quite sorry for herself.
It would help if every fucking door in this place didn't look the same! She thought hysterically, waving her arms above her head in annoyance.
She turned down another corridor, silently thankful to her ability to see in the dark... And then she wasn't. Every corridor, every door, every little window looked the same.
It's like being in a fucking maze. Stupid pirates and their stupid- she looked around at the vessel she was trapped on- thing?!
She was so annoyed and sleepy too. Maybe I can find some sort of unused broom cupboard to sleep in? With that thought she perked up slightly and turned to the closest door within her reach. Turning the cold steel door knob quietly she slipped into the dark room.
She closed the door behind her as quietly as possible and turned to gaze around the room interestedly, after all, it's not everyday you get to explore a pirate ship.
The supposed-to-be-broom-cupboard wasn't really a broom cupboard at all but a fair sized bedroom. A large bed took up a good portion of the space and Mizu froze, a figure visible under the sheets.
Shit, shit, shit, time to leave!
She spun around and her tail whipped into a precariously stacked pile of books balanced on a night stand. With several clunks the volumes hit the floor and the figure in the bed sat bolt upright.
Mizu winced as the person wailed in fright, it dawned on her for the first time that night that in the darkness all people could possibly see was the light reflecting in her eyes.
Mizu screamed back in return, what was she supposed to do?
The figure stopped it's annoying noises and sat quietly, glaring hotly at Mizu. "You..." a female voice growled making Mizu flatten her ears. They stood up from the bed angrily, throwing the bedsheets to the ground.
A heavenly scent invaded Mizu's nose. She blinked in confusion before pouncing on the girl, the unknown person fell backwards onto the mattress and gave a blood-curdling shriek.
POV – Trafalgar Law
He stormed down the corridor with Kanzaki hot on his heels, another female scream that came from the far side of the sub had him running.
Multiple doors opened on each side as some of his groggy crew mates who had been roused from all of the commotion stumbled out of their rooms, laden with weapons and sporting tousled hair.
He didn't have time to ease them – besides the fact that he wasn't so sure of the situation himself.
Reaching the door to Kotomi's quarters he threw it upon, hitting the lights he drew his nodachi from it's sheath to slice down the red-headed woman.
She should have still been hand-cuffed to one of the cots in the infirmary!
As Law suspected she was already viciously attacking Kotomi, pinning her down against the bed and sniffing her.
He blinked, weapon still poised as he witnessed the girl sniffing Kotomi's skin contentedly, stripy tail swishing freely as a loud purr filled the room.
Law turned to look at Kanzaki questioningly but he was also mesmerized by the turn of events.
"You smell so pretty," The girl mewled joyously as she nuzzled into Kotomi's neck. For the first time since the flowered girl had joined his crew Law witnessed her smile... and laugh.
POV – Yamamoto Kotomi
The sound of purring in her ear made her eyes flicker open, the girl from the previous evening was in bed next to her and cuddled up to her shoulder. She smiled slightly, unused to someone getting so close and not cringing away in fright.
Timidly she brushed her fingers through the girl's long scarlet hair, the purring ceased.
Big golden eyes looked up at her in curiosity followed by a blindingly radiant smile. "G'morning!" The girl greeted in a sing-song voice. Kotomi stared in wonderment at her and giggled.
The broken skin on the girls face was starting fall away so Kotomi reached her clean nails up to peel it away gently. The girl closed her eyes and waited patiently.
Once Kotomi was done she was about to sit up when the girl opened her eyes and touched Kotomi's cheek. The small hand touching gently along the bridge of her nose to her left eye. She brushed the petals there gently with her fingertips and Kotomi flinched away.
"I-I'm sorry! Did I hurt you?" The girl asked, worry clouding her eyes. Kotomi frowned, laying her head back on the pillow and closing her good eye. She sighed.
"No, just-" She frowned. "Be gentle, please..." The little fingers brushed over her skin gently again, playing the the different flowers and petals that grew directly out of her flesh. Kotomi relaxed after realizing the girl wasn't going to purposefully tear any of the flowers from her skin.
"They're so beautiful," The girl cooed making Kotomi giggle. "Where did they come from?" She asked innocently. Kotomi opened her eyes to gaze at her sadly. Beautiful?
"From me," She replied stiffly, looking away from the girl. "I ate one of the devil's fruit: the ue-ue no mi*. I can grow anything I want to..." She drew off, frowning. "You really don't think it's weird?" Kotomi asked.
The girl smiled, "Of course I think it's weird!" She exclaimed happily. Kotomi gaped. "But," She looked up with those huge golden eyes. "There are much worse things to have than flowers, don't you think?" Kotomi's heart clenched painfully, tears stung her good eye. The girl pulled Kotomi towards her in a gentle hug.
Kotomi wasn't sure how long she sobbed on the girl's shoulder but once she had stopped she felt a lot better, better than she had felt in a long time. Fingers stroked her back comfortingly as she hiccuped, her hands are so warm... "What's your name?" Kotomi asked politely, moving back to watch the girl smile at her.
"Saotome Mizu," She exclaimed happily. "Just call me Mizu." Kotomi giggled, holding out her right hand to Mizu it was soon taken in the smaller's.
Her hands are filthy... Kotomi cringed.
"Yamamoto Kotomi," She greeted happily in return, they shook hands. "And you my dear friend need a bath."
Never had she seen a person look so upset at the prospect of water.
Holly- I hope you guys like! :) Cutesy friendship is blossoming between Kotomi and Mizu hehehe...
P.S: *the ue-ue no mi, I got it from the verb ueru which means to plant or to grow.
