So to answer the questions from AWChic I do have answers to your questions! Yes Charlotte Johannson is Charlotte Pike because I like shipping Byron and Charlotte together :D. So Tara Gardella shows up in Stacy and the Missing Ring. Lynn Benedict is Claudia's cousin that was born in Claudia and the Worlds Cutest baby.
The last part of this authors note includes the fact that I'll be going back in forth between where the sitters are now. Then what is happening to the kids of Stoneybrook and the new babysitters club.
Also I am not making up OCs for this story. Every character is mentioned in at least one book in the actual series. The only OCs include who is going to marry Shannon and some of the sitters.
I took a deep breath before lacing up my fraying white skates. Right now I Laura Beth Perkins is deep in my element. Everyone in my family has been great at something and excelled at it. Myriah had theatre and did several plays in school and made a cameo on some movies. Gabbie is great at writing and journalism, she is the editor in charge at Stoneybrook High School's newspaper. Just last week she was accepted at Princeton on a journalism scholarship.
As for me the thing I'm great at is ice skating. Ever since I was four years old I always loved being on the ice. It like there was nothing in the world to hold me back. Stoneybrook's ice skating rink was my favorite place to be. The smell of pizzas and pretzels wavered through the air from the concession stands. Everybody seemed to be so happy and several lessons were being held at the moment.
I pulled my long blonde hair up in a French braid and tucked my black leggings into the skates. My dark purple skirt fluttered just above my knee cap and my white knitted shirt clung to my curves.
The familiar tingle ran down my spine as I stepped onto the ice. Everything seemed to be melting away from my mind. Letting out a sigh of happiness I just skated around the rink. After a couple laps I started to test some tricks that I had been practicing.
First I did a simple figure eight on the middle part of the ice. I did a spiral followed by a one foot spin. A couple people had stopped to watch me practice each move. I really wanted to try an axel jump but that would have been difficult as it is one of the hardest jumps to make. Instead I did a waltz jump followed by a flying spin.
Then a hungry feeling had panged through my stomach. I had checked my watch noticing that it was now noon. I looked over at the food court and saw a rather short line and thought to take advantage of that.
Skating over I took off my worn skates and slipped on my flats. It felt weird to be in flat shoes but this was something I had grown used to. Behind the counter I felt my stomach flip flop at the sight of Daniel Dawes.
Danny Dawes goes to a nearby High School but I see him around town sometimes. He's really cute and has a great smile that I can't help but melt at.
"Hi Danny," I said smiling at him myself. "I didn't know you worked here."
"He doesn't really work here," said a bossy voice. I recognized the voice that came from Karen Brewer. She used to ice skate here when she was younger and she got a job when she was 15. "He's here on a trial basis."
I didn't really know Karen until she started working here. She goes to Stoneybrook University and is pretty bitter about it. Especially since her friend Hannah moved to Greece.
"Hi Laura," he said as Karen disappeared into the backroom. "I just got hired on a trial basis right now. The boss did a bit of an over hire and is letting some of us work for free while he does some cuts."
I nodded like I understood but really didn't because I was too busy taking him in. He is just really cute!
"Well I'll have a mini pizza and a bottle of water," I said noticing people starting to gather behind me. He nodded and took an already made pizza out of the warmer. Then he quickly grabbed a water bottle out of the mini fridge.
"I saw you out there ice skating, you're amazing," he said in awe. "You make it look easy and fun."
"It's a lot of hard work," I said pulling out my wallet. "But a ton of fun. I've been skating since I was four years old. My parents think I can make it to the Olympics. If you want I can teach you something."
"That'd be great," he said taking my money and handing me the change. "I'll see you around?"
"Sure," I said feeling the warmth run through me again.
Inside I squealed that I had just talked to Danny. He was just sooo cute! The smile and floppy dark hair. I felt my heart flying before I started to dig into my pizza. My favorite with sausage and pepperoni plus a water bottle.
Just as I was about to wrap up my lunch and head to babysit the Pikes again, (I was going to meet Tara this time), I had someone sit down. The man looked familiar but I didn't know how to place him. His dark hair was combed and cut neatly. He had skates thrown over one shoulder and….
"Are you Jeremy Brown?" I asked noticing him. I knew Jeremy Brown he trained Jillian, an Olympic skater from around here.
"I am," he said surprised. "I noticed you skating out here and you're really good. Have you ever thought of skating professionally?"
I thought of this before I shook my head no. I knew I loved to skate and that it was something that I had excelled at. Every Olympics I had watched with great interest. Every show that had come to Stamford has been on ice; like the Disney Princesses on Ice.
"If you ever consider going professional let me know," he said giving me his card. "It'd be a pleasure to work with you."
I took his card thanking him before heading to the Pike's house to babysit.
"Hi Charlotte," I said as she opened the door. Tara was already there feeding Tabitha through a bottle. Byron was changing Maya's diaper in the girl's bedroom as I peered into their bedroom. The girl's bedroom is my favorite part of their apartment. The room was painted a sunny yellow color and had a color scheme for each girl around their cribs.
Charlotte was holding Alicia as she handed her to me.
"We are going to the grocery store to stock up on what we're low on. We'll be back in about another 2 hours if the traffic is good and everything is where it's supposed to be," she said. "Our cell phone numbers, the doctor's office, and the rest of the phone numbers are on the fridge."
Byron and Charlotte left leaving us to put the girls down for a nap. It's always fun sitting for them since most of the time they nap leaving the two of us to talk. Right now I didn't want to tell Tara about meeting Jeremy Brown.
So instead we found ourselves talking about school and boys. I did tell her about Danny and she was just as I was excited as I was. She went on saying that Rose Salem had a crush on J.P.! This was really fun talking to Tara as usually we don't get sitting jobs together.
"So did you hear about the time capsule?" asked Tara adjusting her math book.
"What time capsule?" I asked confused about this.
"Mr. and Mrs. Spier found a time capsule buried near their garden a couple of weeks ago. The historical society decided to keep it sealed and wanted all the people that buried here to be there. Byron and Charlotte went there a couple of weeks ago to the meeting. They're trying to get ahold of some members of a babysitting club."
