Chapter 4

The Village Secret

For the next few days, the girl had been coming back and forth from school as she finally got settled into her new home. Gakupo, who hasn't fed in a while due to him being punished, had not healed fully. He limped through the village square with his head down in order to hide his badly bruised face. He limped right towards the new girl without even noticing her. She didn't seem to notice him either since she was talking on her cell phone to one of her friends. She bumped into him and with him being unstable due to injury; he fell backwards onto the ground. "God what where you're going!" she scolded as she glared down at him.

"You are the one who bumped into me," he said hotly despite his busted lip.

"Well then, go around me next time," she said before she continued walking. Gakupo watched her go with sadness in his light blue eyes. She looked back at him and saw what had been done to him; she took his appearance in completely. She turned around to face him completely. "Are… you okay…?" she asked slowly. He shook his head slowly refusing to speak. "Do you need help? Do you need and ambulance?" She sounded a bit uncomfortable and awkward in asking this man these questions.

"I uh… need to feed…" he said faintly.

"Feed? I don't know what you mean by that." He dragged her off to the shadows away from the mansion and closer to her house. He then showed her his sharp fangs.

"You are in a village of vampires…" he said slowly. With that, she burst into hysterical laughter. His gaze focused on the vein in her neck. She stopped laughing when he fell completely silent.

"Is this just some kind of joke that you guys play on newcomers?" she asked still trying not to laugh some more. Gakupo shook his head slowly; his eyes still focus on that vein in her throat. He watched it pulsate each time blood passed through it. "Oh, come on, you have got to be kidding! Vampires aren't real!"

"Do you want proof?" he growled suddenly becoming aggressive. She merely laughed again.

"Jeez calm down," she said. "It's fine if you still believe in them. I'm just telling you the truth." He opened his jaws wide and went to sink his fangs deep into her throat when his master grabbed him by his neck from behind.

"What do you think you're doing?" Michael asked as he pulled Gakupo away from Miku. "My apologies miss."

"It's alright…" she said in return. Michael threw Gakupo across the clearing where he hit a tree hard with the flat of his back. Miku flinched a bit at the sound of him hitting the tree. Gakupo slid to the ground and didn't move to get up. Miku realized then just how far Michael threw the butler. "Um… so… uh…" she stuttered unable to form actual words. Michael walked off without saying another word. "Hey! Wait!" she protested. She grabbed Michael's arm without thinking. "Are you the one that told me to leave?"

"Yes, I sent my butler to tell you to leave, but he's completely useless though," he growled and walked off, pulling his arm free of her grasp rather easily. Silently she went over to Gakupo to check on him.

"Um… again… are you okay?" she asked him. He lifted his head slowly and again he shook his head, daring not to speak this time. She sighed a bit and helped him get to his feet. "I think I've got some bandages at my house." She walked him back towards her house without another word. He limped beside her. He knew that when he returned to the mansion, he would only receive another beating. When they arrived inside the house, she cleaned his wounds and fixed him up the best that she could. Her cat continually hissed at him for some reason.
