A/N: Now, for the long awaited update! This chapter, confusion and blushes! Next chapter, we may finally find out what was in the bag!
A cookie to anyone who guesses what it is correctly!
"Alright, dude. You said you had something for me?" asked Jude, tilting his head back and peering at Jonesy with half-closed eyes.
Jonesy grinned, dropping down into the empty chair beside his friend. "That I do, that I do! It's right here!"
He shook the handle of the bag he was holding, all bright pink paper and the dark silhouette of a woman. The white paper that was stuffed in the top of the bag crinkled, and Jonesy could feel the eyes of his friends switch to him.
Jude reached for the bag, but Jonesy snatched it backwards at the last minute. "Nuh-uh! Not until I'm done eating. Trust me, bro. The wait's going to be completely worth it."
Nikki raised a brow at the two of them, crossed her arms over her chest and leaned back in her seat. "What, nothing for the rest of us?"
"Like, yeah, Jonsey. I knew you were cheap, but this is just kind of rude!" Caitlin chided, even as a grin broke out on her face and Jen shook her head and, of course, thought Jonesy, the blonde had told the first person to walk past her.
No secret was safe with Caitlin and so maybe it was a good idea that he was doing this now? That he wasn't putting it off for any longer, but taking the plunge and diving in head first?
Of course it was.
All of his ideas were good ones, and so he gave a laugh and shook his head. "Sorry, girls, not this time. Next time, though. I'll make sure to get you three something real nice."
"I don't want you picking anything out for me," snorted Jen, cheeks turning red. Beside her, Nikki gave a nod of agreement.
And it was at that moment, when no one was really paying attention, that Jude leaned over and plucked the bag right out of Jonesy's hand.
"Hey!" squawked Jonesy, making a grab to get it back - but Jude was already up and standing a few feet away, back to the table as he plopped the bag down on the counter of the Lemon.
White paper hit the floor.
Then the bag itself.
Silence. Silence. Silence - and Jonesy's heart was pounding loud in his ears, because was that a blush creeping up the back of Jude's neck?
He thought that it was. No, was positive that's what it was, and tried his best to sound smug and amused and completely not terrified when he spoke. It worked, somewhat. "I told you. A perfect fit!"
Silence.
Silence.
Silence.
Jude grabbed the bag off the ground and shoved the gift back inside before turning around, holding it close to his chest. Dark red dusted his cheeks, his ears, the bridge of his nose - but he was grinning, if a little confused looking. "I don't know if the wait was worth /that/, dude."
Jonesy's tongue felt heavy in his mouth all of a sudden and he shrugged in answer. "I'm pretty sure it was. Looks nice, right?"
Keep talking, he told himself, and don't think about how nice he looks right now.
"Yeah," agreed Jude. "It looks really nice."
"Are you going to show us?" prompted Nikki, sounding more amused than annoyed. then again, it wasn't often that Jude seemed emberrassed over things, hesitant to flaunt off anything that he was given.
When Jude just shook his head no, Caitlin sent Jen a satisfied grin.
