Sorry for being away for so long.
When she heard Eden's door shut Ziva sank back down on the couch. Dark thoughts entering the front of her mind again as her eyes watered up. She would never forgive herself for this. How could she have let it get this far. For five years her son had hidden part of his life for her. In those five years she had never known he was holding something back. She then began to wonder if she should call Tony, tell him. But as soon as she thought about this she dismissed it as well. For one it was to know use telling Tony. He would be gone for nine more days and could not take an early leave for something that was not life threatening. Second and most importantly it was not her place to tell him. That was up to Nathan. That was, she thought, if after tonight he would ever want to come back home.
Then the phone rang. She dried her eyes as fast as she could with her sleeve and tried to sound as normal as possible as she picked up the ringing phone.
"Ziva DiNozzo" she answered.
"I never get tired of hearing you say that" the other person on the line responded "hey"
"Shalom Tony" Ziva said, sighing, of course he would call now.
"You don't sound to good Zi. Is everything alright?"
"Yes, I am simply tired. It was a long day"
"Tell me about it. These congresses really start to anoy me"
"Start? You have always been bothered by going"
"I know, I know. So everythings alright there"
"We are fine Tony, you know I love it when you call but it is getting rather late and it is"
"a school night I know. Sleep tight. I love you"
"Love you"
She then was met by the bleeping of the phone being hung up. Ziva dimmed the light and went to bed. But not before she went to check on her daughters. As she softly closed their doors again she whishpered 'I love you's' in the dark night. What she did not know was that Eden was still awake and heard her mother's voice. Softly she got out of bed and tiptoed to her parents room.
Eden was stopped by a sound coming from where she knew her mother was lying. Sobs that got harder the longer she listened but also sounded more repressed with each sob that passed as if muffled by a pillow. She knew her mother was hurting. And also knew it was best to leave her alone. When Nathan and she were little and her mother would be sad or angry their father always told them to just let her be. Let her breath. When they were older and started to ask why they could not comfort their mother he explained to them that their mother had never been allowed to cry and be sad when she grew up. That she still was not used to being allowed to show it.
As she lay back down in her bed she thought about Nathan. He had worked so hard to come up with the courage to tell their mom. But something must have gone wrong. Eden could not believe her mother would hate Nate. If she had she would have never pushed Nathan to tell. Even though she did not know the exact reason behind her mother's tears she knew it could not be because she did not love Nathan anymore. She would talk with him tomorrow at school. Make him come home. And with that the house of the DiNozzo's went silent. As all had slipped into sleep.
Please tell me if you also want Nathans thoughts. Then I'll write that before going to the next morning. Eden and Nathans talk in school.
