Chapter 4 – Miscues
The car had nothing left to give, as it coughed and died along an abandoned stretch of highway. Mulder got out of the car, still swearing and popped the hood of the car as he stared at it helplessly. Car mechanics had never been his thing and that hadn't changed in the ensuing years since he had left the FBI. The collections of mechanical apparatus did nothing but confuse and irritate him because he had no clue how to fix anything in that collection of mechanical equipment.
He knew that he and Scully needed to replace that vehicle but caught up with their relationship and his happiness at soon becoming a new father, he had pushed off the practicality of getting a better second vehicle. A decision he was now regretting with all his heart.
Fuck! How the hell am I going to get there in time?
He raised his head and stared at the empty highway, Nope, not a vehicle in sight. Will Scully ever forgive me?
He looked down at his suit, it was pressed and neat and as formal as they both agreed he should be today because it was his wedding day. He was supposed to meet Scully and Skinner at the courthouse in ten minutes, how could he possibly fuck this up so badly?
Well, nothing for it. He had two choices. He could start walking to town or he could start walking home, he was about an equal distance from both, and if he was lucky he could get a ride to his destination. There was no way in the world he'd get to town in time to get married and he knew the justice of the peace had a tight schedule today. With a sigh he decided his best course of action was to go back home and face the wrath of both Scully and Skinner there.
He hoped he could convince her that he wasn't trying to ditch her, that he wasn't trying to escape the most important day of his life, the day he married Dana Katherine Scully. Just for good measure he kicked the tire of the car with emphasis on how it had ruined his day, then he swore at it for a few minutes.
Feeling justifiably vented, he straightened up his suit and began his long walk home.

The clock on the wall was efficient in its display of time, and Mulder was now half an hour late. Ten more minutes and the wedding would be off for today because the Justice simply would not have any time to perform it.
Scully glanced over at Skinner and saw that he was fidgeting in a seat nearby, trying not to give her the sympathetic looks that he knew she hated. Damnit Mulder! Where are you?
Despite hoping for the best, it was not meant to be on this day. Fifteen minutes later the Justice walked up to Scully, a sympathetic look on her face as Scully stood up to speak with her.
"I'm sorry, Miss Scully, but I can't wait any longer, I have to move on to the next person, I'm already past the start of their scheduled appointment," the kind face of the older woman with grey hair regarded her with compassion. "Perhaps you could reschedule?"
"Yes, yes, that's possible. We will get back to you on that." Scully could hardly control the shame she felt coursing through her for being here and wasting the judge's time on something that Mulder had promised her, convinced her with his sincerity. The embarrassment burned in her cheeks as she glanced at the floor, no longer able to meet the judge's eyes.
The judge squeezed her wrist in encouragement. "I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation, Miss Scully. This happens more often than you would think and usually it's a perfectly understandable reason."
"Thank you," she said in her most polite voice and watched as the judge turned away and she heard the Judge's assistant call the name of the next couple. A beaming young couple practically jumped off their chairs and stopped in front of the assistant, their hands intertwined, and gazes locked on each other.
Scully stared at them as they disappeared into the chamber of the judge, the doors closing behind the happy couple. After a few moments she realized that the clearing of someone's throat belonged to her friend, and former boss, Walter Skinner.
"Dana? Maybe I should take you home?"
She nodded. "Yes, home. I should go home."
"I'm sure he has a perfectly good explanation."
"He always does, doesn't he?" she mused, keeping her thoughts to herself and somewhat amazed, given the state of her hormones, that she wasn't crying right about now. She would deal with her emotions when she got home. And then she would deal with Mulder.
Skinner helped her into her coat and offered her his arm as he escorted her out of the Courthouse.

The ride back to the Mulder-Scully house was silent for the most part. Walter tried to engage her in conversation to get her mind of things, but found that she was contemplative and, so he finally lapsed into silence, leaving her to her own thoughts.
He had pulled up the long driveway and shifted the car into park, but Scully was still in her own world. After a couple of minutes, he leaned over and touched her arm.
"Dana? We're here. You're home."
"What? Oh, yes?" She said, looking at the familiar surroundings. "Sorry, Walter. I was…preoccupied."
"No problem." He squeezed her arm. "Do you want me to come in with you?"
She regarded him for a moment as if considering his offer, finally she nodded. "Yes, actually I would like that. I could use some company."
"Great." He shut off the car, got out of his seat, and went around to the other side of the car to open the door for Scully. Once out, he offered her his arm again, and feeling grateful for his support, she took it and led him into the house.
888888888888888888888888888888888
How could ten miles seem so far away from home? Mulder though as he trudged along the highway. Things were finally starting to look familiar, so he knew he was probably within three miles of home, but he couldn't ever remember a walk taking so long.
He mentally kicked himself again! How could he have been so stupid as to keep putting off buying a reliable vehicle? The damn car hadn't run right since it was crashed in his investigation of missing FBI agents a few months ago. But he doggedly insisted it would be fine until they could make a good buy and get something more durable for the two of them, despite Scully's insistence that they spend the money. But then he started saving money, or at least trying too. He wanted their child to have whatever he or she needed and putting off buying the car seemed like a good way to start building a nest egg. His intentions were good, but he messed things up again.
Damnit all to hell! Of all the days for the car to stop running it was on his wedding day.
He blew out a breath as he approached the long driveway to his home. Hopefully Scully would understand and not be really pissed off at him, but it had taken a lot of time to get her to agree to marry him at all. And now? Had he blown his opportunity?
He increased the stride of his walk knowing it would only give him a few extra seconds, but if she was already home there was no time to waste.
888888888888888888888888888888888
The kitchen table was quiet as Skinner and Scully sat together drinking tea.
"I'm sure Mulder has an explanation," Skinner said, clearing his throat.
Scully shot him a daggered look and realized that he hadn't said that Mulder would have a 'good' explanation.
"He always does, doesn't he?" She felt like crying. Damn her hormones.
"There must be a reason, Dana. I know how much he loves you. He wouldn't stand you up."
"He would if he got cold feet." She stared at the table, feeling tears well up in her eyes. "I think my first thought was right."
"What thought is that?" Skinner reached out and gently put his hand on hers.
"That we shouldn't get married. That he doesn't love me enough for that kind of commitment."
"Dana, you know that's not true."
Scully withdrew her hand and abruptly stood up, turning her back to him. Skinner got up, and gently placed his hands on her shoulders in a gesture of comfort. He was surprised when she turned into him and began to cry. He made soothing sounds and held her tight as she cried against him.
"I'm sorry, Walter…"
"Shh, it's all right, Dana. Don't worry, I'm glad I'm here for you."
She drew back and looked at him for a few moments. "You are, aren't you?" She wiped the tears away from her cheeks. "Thanks, Walter, I appreciate it."
"My pleasure," he said.
It was at that moment that they heard a noise and looked up to see Mulder enter the kitchen. His sheepish look faded and turned dark when he saw Scully locked in Skinner's embrace.
"Am I interrupting?" He asked the two of them.
"Mulder, grow up!" Skinner snapped.
"You're a fine one to talk, with your arm wrapped around my…my…" Mulder's jealous expression floundered as he realized he couldn't call her his wife, and Sully jumped all over it.
"Your what, Mulder? Your wife? Because that didn't happen today, did it?" she snapped and shook herself free from Skinner. "Where the hell were you?"
"Don't yell at me! That lousy excuse for a car broke down. I was stuck between here and there and had to walk ten miles just to get home!"
"And whose fault is that? We had the money to get a new car and I told you to do it! You're the one that keeps putting it off."
They glared at each other and Mulder finally looked away and ran a hand through his hair, his expression softening as he looked at Scully.
"Hey I'm sorry, okay?" Then he gave Skinner a dour look. "Think you might leave, Walter? This is between us and doesn't concern you."
Skinner remained frozen to the spot where he stood, folding his arms in front of him. He looked over at Scully.
"Dana?"
She looked over to Skinner and offered him a wan smile. "It's okay, Walter. Mulder's right, it's something we have to work out."
"You're sure?"
"Positive" She placed a hand on his arm. "Thanks for being there."
"No problem. Call me if you need me."
"You've got it."
Skinner nodded at Mulder. "Mulder. Straighten this out because she deserves better," he muttered into Mulder's ear on the way out.
Mulder and Scully stared at each other, both waiting until they heard the door shutting behind Skinner before speaking.
Mulder looked into her tear stained face and saw the sadness that she was trying to hide behind her indignant anger, and he took a step towards her just as she stepped away. He let his hand fall to his side.
"Scully?"
"It's fine, Mulder. I shouldn't have expected you to follow through, really. I understand cold feet."
"Cold feet, my ass! It was the damn car! It died on my way to marry you, it's still sitting on the side of the road."
Scully regarded him with skepticism.
"Please, Scully. I'm telling you the truth. I want to marry you. I wanted to marry you today and I wanted to marry tomorrow or any day you want." He saw her expression soften, just a little so he stepped closer and took her hand in his. "Please. I promise you it was the car and I promise you I'll get it fixed."
"How about replaced? We need a reliable vehicle."
"Replaced, anything you want."
Scully gave him a guarded look. "Do you promise?"
"I swear, Dana. I'll replace the car. I'll do it tomorrow."
She was quiet, so Mulder gave her a nudge.
"You still want to marry me?"
"Scully, Dana, there is nothing I want more. Tell me when."
"We'll have to reschedule…" she began uncertainly.
"I'll leave that to you, just tell me when."
Finally, Scully gave him a small smile. "I'll call tomorrow to see when we can reschedule."
"That's my girl," he opened his arms and Scully fell into them. He held her tight as he kissed the top of her head, knowing that she was the only woman in the world for him and always would be. He held her close until she chose to pull away, and gave her a sweet kiss.
"I love you," he told her.
"I love you too, Mulder. I'm sorry I'm so emotional, it those damn hormones…"
"I'll make it up to you."
"I'll hold you to it."
"As you should. Ready for dinner?"
"In an hour? I'd like to clean up and get out of my nice clothes."
"No problem. I'll get dinner started."
"That'd be nice…" she murmured as she turned and left the kitchen.
Mulder stared after her thoughtfully and then turned to start dinner, knowing that although his partner offered words of forgiveness, she hadn't completely done so yet.
888888888888888888888888888888888
-Later that night Mulder was spooned up behind Scully, his arms wrapped around her as they lie on their sides, and his hands resting on the small bump on her stomach. He still marveled that a small life existed within, a life that was the best of both of them. Content with that thought, he was almost asleep when he Scully spoke.
"Mulder?"
"Hmmm," he murmured sleepily.
"I made a new appointment with the Justice today. She has a cancellation for Monday, two days from now at 11am in the morning, so I took it. Promise me you'll be there this time?"
"I promise, Scully. I will do everything within my power to be there."
"Skinner can't make it, but Mom can, so I asked her to witness for us."
"Scully, that's great. I love your Mom."
"So, we'll get married on Monday."
"Yup, on Monday you'll finally be Mrs. Mulder."
"Scully-Mulder," she mumbled in a sleep laden voice.
He pulled her close and sighed in contentment, grateful he had been forgiven. Monday was the day, Monday they would finally be married, and Scully would legally be his, a huge milestone in their relationship, one that he wanted for so many years. He could hardly wait.
You have a second chance to marry the woman of your dreams, he thought to himself, don't fuck it up!
888888888888888888888888888888888
It had been completely unexpected. Scully had cleared a week off her schedule, a week to get married and to spend with Mulder, but now work had called, no summoned was a better word, back to work because of an emergency. She had done extensive research on patients who suffered from brain disease and trauma, mostly kids, and the staff neurosurgeon was out of the country and they needed someone immediately, so they called her. How could she refuse? A patient's life was at stake. It was uncertain if she would have to do surgery, but at the very least she had to read results, conduct tests, and consult with staff as to the best way to proceed until the neuro surgeon on call could get to the hospital.
And it was Monday and 10am. Mulder had done as he promised and spent their Saturday trading in the car that didn't work and getting a newer one that did. He was out now running last minute errands, he said something about picking up some flowers for the wedding, and she knew he was trying to do little things to please her. She told him she would meet him at the courthouse, that she wouldn't be at the hospital long but that was before she understood the magnitude of brain trauma she was dealing with. If she got out of the hospital before the end of the day she would be doing well, she could only hope that Mulder would understand why she was missing their wedding ceremony.
She had left him a message, but he hadn't answered. And he wasn't picking up now.
Damnit, Mulder! Where are you? I need to tell you what's happening.
"Dr. Scully, we need you now," a nurse said, poking her head into the Scully's office.
"Be right there," she said hanging up on her phone call. "Sorry, Mulder," she mumbled and left the room.
888888888888888888888888888888888
Mrs. Scully watched as Mulder paced back and forth in front of the bench where she sat, doing his best to wear a hole in the floor.
"Fox, sit down. She'll be here."
"She's already fifteen minutes late."
"She probably got hung up at the hospital. She wouldn't miss this for anything."
"Are you sure? She was pretty mad at me last week."
"Revenge? You know her better than that."
"Yeah, I guess." He said down beside Maggie and exhaled, appearing suddenly weary and deflated. "Maybe she just doesn't want to marry me. I can't blame her. I always thought she could do better than me."
"Fox, don't be silly. She wouldn't have anyone but you. You know that."
Mulder leaned back against the bench and waited. And waited. And waited. After half an hour the same judge that had spoken with Scully the week before came out and stood before Mulder.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Mulder, but I simply can't keep my schedule open any longer as there are other appointments I have to keep."
"It's all right, I understand."
The female judge squeezed his hand in a gesture of compassion. "Perhaps you can reschedule?"
Mulder gave her a wan smile. "We already tried that, didn't we?"
Tsking to herself, she turned away to greet the next couple. Mulder watched sadly until he felt Maggie's hand on his arm.
"Come on, Fox. Let's go home. If Dana's stuck at the hospital it has to be important and she'll need your support when she gets home."
Wordlessly, he nodded and let Maggie take his arm as they trudged out of the courthouse.
888888888888888888888888888888888
By the time Scully got home, it was past midnight. The consult had taken all day and the neurosurgeon flown in hadn't arrived until after dinner time. She had briefed him and turned all the data over to him, and finally with things under the control of someone more qualified than her in this, she had the freedom to return home. She was beyond tired, hadn't eaten since that morning, and was emotionally exhausted as well.
She wasn't at all surprised that the house lights were off when she walked through the door of their little house, she was sure that Mulder must have gone to bed. She flipped on the hallway light and eased her feet out of her heels and with a tired sigh, trudged up the stairs, and disappeared into the bathroom to get ready for bed.
She emerged from the bathroom in her loose, comfortable, blue silk pajamas and slipped into bed besides Mulder. Knowing he wasn't asleep, she wrapped her arms around him.
"I'm sorry, Mulder."
He made a non-committal noise.
"They didn't have anyone else to help." She paused. "I think we saved his life."
"That's good," he mumbled, but his voice wasn't sleepy.
"Mulder, Fox, I didn't want to miss our wedding."
"Neither did I last week."
"You're not mad?"
"As not mad as you were."
"Oh." She sighed and rested her head against her back. "I'm sorry."
"I was too." He turned to face her. "Scully, I love you, but maybe this is fate telling us we shouldn't do this."
"You mean get married?"
"Yeah. Maybe."
Scully chewed over that thought in her mind and her heart for a while. She had finally agreed to marry him because she loved him with all her heart, but was she willing to scuttle everything because of a couple of uncontrolled circumstances that had interfered with their wedding plans?
"You don't want to get married anymore?" Her voice was quiet.
"Of course, I do, Dana. I love you, but maybe it's not in the cards for us. Maybe we should just go on as we are. We have love, commitment and a child on the way."
"Hmm, let's talk about this in the morning."
"Okay," Mulder said but sounded unconvinced.
They snuggled up together and Scully allowed herself to succumb to her overwhelming fatigue.
888888888888888888888888888888888
The eggs just weren't appetizing, so Scully pushed the plate away from her after eating her toast. At least they didn't make her sick anymore, but they just hadn't regained their formerly appealing status. She looked up to see Mulder watching her, a frown on his face.
"What?" she asked.
"You need to eat."
"I do eat."
"More. You need to eat more. There's two of you now," he mumbled under his breath.
"I know that, Mulder, and I have been eating."
"Whatever," he pulled the plate away from her and dumped the eggs in the garbage.
"Mulder," Scully sighed, "talk to me."
"I am talking to you," he said in a neutral voice, still not looking at her.
Shaking her head, she got out of her chair and placed herself in front of him until he looked at her.
"What?" he said in an exasperated voice.
"We need to talk about last night, don't we?"
"No, why would you say that?"
"Because of how you're acting, because you're sulking."
"I am not." He tried to be indignant, but he looked more like a pouting little boy.
"You're still upset because I missed our wedding ceremony yesterday."
He expelled a long breath and nodded. "Yeah."
"I couldn't help it, it was a medical emergency."
"I know."
"Then what?" she shrugged, mystified.
"It doesn't mean that it didn't hurt my feelings."
She studied him for a moment. "Kind of like I felt on Friday, huh?"
They exchanged a long look, and sighed at the same time. He reached out and touched her face and she leaned into his hand.
"Are we okay?"
"Yeah, sorry for being such a pain in the ass. I just want to marry you so much."
"Me too. Should we reschedule? Maybe the third time is the charm?"
"I'm afraid to," Mulder admitted, "maybe this just isn't what we should be doing."
"Please tell me you're not back to thinking the universe has it in for us?"
Mulder shrugged.
"You really think we shouldn't get married?" Scully's voice echoed her disappointment. "I would hate that."
"Me too."
Their eyes locked and Mulder gave her a crooked smile and he reached for her hand.
"I love you, Scully."
She said nothing but leaned in to kiss him. When they broke apart he gently placed his hand on her stomach. "Do you think junior will care if his parents are living in sin?"
Scully laughed. "Probably not."
"Okay then," he said and pulled her back into his arms.
They were thus engaged a few minutes later when the doorbell rang. When the ringing became insistent the sound registered with them and they regarded each other in surprise.
"Wonder how long that's been going on," Mulder mused as he released Scully and went to answer the door.
When he looked through the peep hole he was surprised to see both Walter Skinner and Maggie Scully standing on his doorstep. He opened the door and ushered them in, calling for Scully as he hung up their jackets in the entryway.
"Scully, get out here! We have company."
"Mulder? Company…." Scully's voice was filled with surprise as she emerged out of the kitchen.
"Mom? Walter? What in the world are you doing here?"
Maggie and Skinner exchanged a conspiratorial look.
"May we?" Skinner gestured towards the living room.
"Of course, come in," Scully agreed as they all took a seat in the living room.
Mulder and Scully exchanged a questioning look before either one of them spoke.
"We're surprised to see you here," Mulder began.
"And together? Something I should know, Mom?"
Maggie flushed and exchanged an amused glance at Skinner who was also blushing. "Nothing like that."
"They why are you both so red?" Mulder asked.
Maggie ignored Mulder's barb and addressed the two of them. "We, Walter and I, think you two should be married."
Both Scully and Mulder laughed.
"We thought so too…" Scully began.
"Thought? What does that mean?" Skinner asked.
"We've decided that we're fine just as we are," Mulder said.
Maggie and Skinner exchanged an alarmed look.
"What do you mean you don't want to get married?" Skinner demanded.
Mulder and Scully shrugged, and reached for each other's hands.
"We're fine, really." Scully assured them.
Maggie went over to her daughter's side and pulled a chair up beside her. "Dana, this doesn't sound like you."
"Mom! Of course, it does. This wanting to get married thing is new. I was perfectly happy being unmarried with Mulder."
"You used the past tense, dear." She paused. "That means that things have changed and that now you want to be married to Fox."
"You're twisting my words."
"You're the one that said them. A slip of the tongue then?"
Scully glared at her mother and Skinner laughed.
"And you, Mulder. I know you want to marry Dana. I know how long you've wanted to marry her. How can you give up so easily?"
Mulder cleared his throat, made a sound, but was unable to get any words out.
"I don't know how…" Scully began but stopped when her mother and Skinner closed ranks in front of them.
"That's why we're here. You're both here, you're both home, so you can get married."
"What? Now?" Mulder stood up. "We appreciate the thought but how can you pull that off?"
Skinner straightened up proudly and smirked at them. Maggie reached out and patted his arm.
"Walter has that under control," Maggie said.
"Sir? I mean, Walter?" Scully looked at him with questioning eyes.
"I can marry you. I became ordained some time ago."
"Really? Why?" Mulder gave him a puzzled look.
Mulder let his gaze wander over the two of them before he answered. "Mostly because I was expecting this a long time ago, I don't know what took the two of you so long." He shrugged. "And in the meantime, it's been useful for a few of my friends."
"You really can marry us?" Scully stared at her former boss in amazement.
"Yes, Dana. I really can marry the two of you. Now are you going to get ready?"
Scully looked at Mulder and saw the grin on his face, and he nodded.
"Okay, then." Mulder nodded at Skinner and Maggie. "We need to go get ready for a wedding."
Mulder and Scully turned to go upstairs to their bedroom to prepare and excited that they would finally get this right, Maggie threw herself into Skinner's arms and hugged him tightly.
888888888888888888888888888888888
The blue silk of her blouse matched her eyes, and the black skirt, thought not traditional for her wedding day only made Mulder think of her as sexier. Scully had to compromise on what she wanted to wear due to her expanding girth and the black skirt still concealed her growing bulk in a way that made her even more beautiful. But in Mulder's eyes there was nothing she could do to make her anything less than beautiful, she was everything he had ever wanted, and he was ever so grateful to be standing at her side reciting the simple vows that would legally join them together.
Mulder still cleaned up nice, Scully had to admit. He was dressed in one of his old suits from when they worked on the X-Files and though he had bulked up just a bit, he still looked damn good. He filled out the suit in a way that made her well aware of his masculinity and assets. And though she could live without marrying Mulder, had expected to live without marrying Mulder, she found that she was happy that she could marry him.
They stared at each other, their wide smiles lighting their eyes with happiness.
"And I am happy, relieved, and ecstatic to pronounce you husband and wife," Skinner finished with a wide grin on his face. "And I'm almost afraid to say this, but you may kiss the bride."
Mulder spared Skinner a sarcastic look and without hesitation swept Scully into his arms, kissing her thoroughly until they both came up for air. Skinner and Maggie had stepped away and were looking around the room, doing their best to allow the newly married couple some privacy.
Mulder and Scully laughed, and both stepped forward to Skinner and gave him, and then Maggie a warm hug.
"I'm so happy for you and Fox," Maggie gushed hugging her daughter tightly.
"Thanks, Mom. "
Then Maggie hugged her new Son-in-law. "Congratulations, Fox."
"I'm so happy, Maggie. I love your daughter so."
Maggie placed her hand on Fox's cheek. "I know, I've always known. I think everyone but the two of you knew for the longest time."
Mulder nodded as Skinner finished hugging Scully and came over to him and extended his hand, and then pulled him in for a hug.
"It's about time you two got to it."
Mulder grinned. "Yeah, it is, isn't it? Thanks for marrying us."
"I'm happy to help." He looked over to Maggie. "I think we should go and leave the newly married couple alone, don't you?"
Maggie nodded. "Most definitely."
"Mom, really, you don't have to leave. Stay! We'll have…" Scully paused as she tried to remember what they may have in the refrigerator, she looked at Mulder for help.
"Uh, we have…we have…"
"Oh, don't try so hard. We'll go for now. You can have us over some other time," Maggie insisted. "Right, Walter?" she put her hand on his arm and with a surprised smile he nodded.
"Yes, some other time," he said as they walked to the door. "Let me see you to your car," he said to Maggie as the closed the front door behind them.
Mulder and Scully looked at each other, wondering if being married would change anything between them. If it would improve things or somehow make them worse. She bit her lip as she studied her new husband.
He stepped closer and intertwined his hand with hers. "What do you think? How do you like being Mrs. Mulder?"
Scully laughed. "That would be Scully-Mulder. You forgot the hyphen."
"Ahh, my mistake." He stepped closer and pulled her into his arms, as close as he could, her belly pressing against him. "Dance with me," he whispered in her ear.
"Mulder! There's no music."
"Since when have we needed music? We'll dance to our own music."
"Mulder!" She giggled as she pressed her face against his chest, and he hummed into her ear. She leaned into him and felt him circle his arms around her, and she felt safe and sheltered, his love for her flowing from him into her.
"I love you," she whispered.
"I love you too," he said in a low, rumbling voice, and kissed her neck.
She sighed and held him tighter, telling him without words how much he meant to her. He abruptly stopped and when she looked up at him, lost herself in his dark hazel eyes, not filled with love for her, and desire fueled by that love.
She reached out her hand and gently stroked his cheek. "Take me upstairs, Mulder. Make love to me."
"I thought you'd never ask," he whispered, and she shivered, desire rippling through her.
He gave her a seductive look, his hazel eyes dark with passion, and picked her up, holding her easily in his arms.
"Mulder! Put me down, you'll hurt yourself."
"Not a chance. You're mine tonight and I have plans for you."
"Any chance I can get you to dress up?"
"That depends on what you had in mind."
"I was thinking I'd like to be with a hot FBI agent. You are dressed for the part."
"I can arrange that," he said making his way up the stairs. "Anything else?"
"Hmm, I thought it'd be interesting if maybe…."
Mulder paused and cocked his head as he looked at her. "If maybe?"
She flashed him a seductive smile. "If maybe we still have the cuffs?"
"The cuffs?" He grinned. "Me or you?"
"You, husband of mine. You can't handcuff a pregnant woman, can you?"
"You want to cuff me and have your way with me?" Mulder's smile was filled with delight.
She let her fingertip trace the outline of his lips. Her answer was simple. "Yes."
"Dana, anything you want!" He answered with enthusiasm, and pushed open the door with his foot.
"How do you want to start?" he asked after placing her gently on the bed.
"Like this," she said and had Mulder turn around as she cuffed his hands together behind him. "Now turn around."
Mulder did as he was instructed as Scully unzipped his pants and pushed them down to the floor. Then she pushed his boxers out of the way and took him in hand.
"Scully," he breathed, his face filled with longing and expectation.
"Stand still, Mulder until I tell you to move."
"Yes, Ma'am."
She cupped his ass and pulled him closer and put her mouth on him.

AN – Thanks for reading the latest installment of this X-Files Christmas story. My apologies for being so late but I've had a busy year – if you want to see what I've been up to please check out my new book (for real!) "Ghost of the Gaelic Moon" – available in various ebook formats and in print from Amazon. Or my website "cairn moon dot com".
I hope you like this chapter and thanks for your patience in waiting for it. I hope you all had a great holiday season, and have an even better New Year in 2018.
Thanks for reading and I would love to hear what you think! Reviews are wonderful – writers live for them. I'd love to hear from you.
