Chapter Four: A First Time for Everything – Part Two
"So Kakshi, when were you gonna tell me about it?" asked Gai.
Kakashi didn't look up from his tea, "About what?"
Quite a bit away from the Academy, Kakashi and Gai were at a tea shop.
"You know, about why you quit."
"Quit what?"
"C'mon Kakashi, you know!" Gai looked around to see if anyone was listening in, then he cupped his hand and whispered: "ANBU."
Kakashi gripped his cup a bit, "Now where did you hear a thing like that?"
"I may have overheard a few things at the bar the other night. Something about how much of a waste it was that the ANBU was 'down a dog' or something of the sorts."
"Damnit Chi..." Kakashi muttered. He put his cup to his mouth for a long drink.
"So? Why did you leave?" Gai pestered.
Kakashi didn't answer.
"Okay then, I'll just guess. Is it because that operations started to be overseen by-grrk!"
Kakashi had his hand gripped around Gai's neck. Then he let go. Since this was a common scene, nobody in the tea shop questioned it. Gai gasped for breath.
"Sorry, my hand moved on its own." Kakashi went back to his tea.
Gai coughed a bit, "Like hell it did...guess you don't want to talk about it."
"Can we change the subject? Or do I have to let it move on it's own again?"
"Fine, geez. Oh wait, isn't it your kid's first day at the Academy?"
"You mean Naruto? Yeah, I sent him off this morning."
"Man, time sure goes by fast. It seems like only yesterday that I had sent off my kids to the Academy." for once, Gai was quiet. He sat there reminiscing a bit.
"You doing okay with them?" Kakashi asked, "Raising kids isn't as easy as it sounds."
Gai shrugged, "I think so, I mean, I try to make it seem like I'm training a genin team for most of the time."
Kakashi's eye narrowed, "Yeah, that's not exactly how one should act as a parent."
Gai nodded, "I know that, that's only when I'm training them. When I'm not, it's all touch-and-go and when I get stuck I just ask myself what my father would do."
"Oh. Does that help?"
Gai smiled, "More often than not." Gai then looked down, "I wish they could've met him." Gai looked back with a smile, "So how are you with Naruto?"
Kakashi shrugged, "Honestly, I have no idea what I'm doing."
Gai chuckled, "At least you're honest. I think you're doing great, Lee and Tenten tell me over and over on how he aims to be your number one student."
Kakashi closed his eye in thought, "Still, I hope he's doing okay."

"Go Sasuke! Kick his ass!" yelled a pink haired girl in the circle. A couple of other girls started shouting similar cheers.
Iruka had his face in his palm and shaking his head, "Just form the Seal of Confrontation and let's get this over with."
The two did so and stared each other down, each waiting for the other to make the first move. The shouts from the circle started to fade as Naruto shut them out and tried to focus on his opponent.
Sasuke Uchiha was fast and vicious so a straight up fight was out of the question, even with the taijutsu training Kakashi (and sometimes Gai) put him though. Going on the defensive was the better option, only a total idiot would try to just run up and hit him with no other plan in mind.
"Are you just gonna stand there?" Sasuke asked.
Naruto didn't answer back, he reached down under his shirt's collar and pulled up the mask over his nose and mouth, obscuring his face.
"What, you got nothing to say to me this time?"
The yellow boy tried to stay calm, their last confrontation almost ended in disaster because he lost control of his emotions. He remembered Kakashi berating him, telling him that he was lucky that Lee and Tenten had pulled him away before the flames could harm him.
Control over emotions was vital for a ninja.
Naruto needed a strategy. He had a lot of stamina, that much was evident as he would manage to tire out Lee and Tenten every time they sparred, but Uchiha were supposed to be naturally adept at com-
Where did he go?
From the left, a flash of black shot at Naruto who barely managed to dodge Sasuke's strike. The yellow boy jumped back after the dodge, and backpedaled a safe distance away. Too close for comfort.
Now the Uchiha was running straight at him.
"It's a trick, he'll expect me to block him or jump."
Before Sasuke closed the distance between the two, Naruto fell to the ground into a slide. Quickly, he made a reach for the Uchiha's legs.
"Huh? Wha!"
In a swift movement, the yellow boy had tripped his opponent, got up, and pinned him on the ground.
The circle went quiet after that. Sasuke Uchiha tried to get back up, but Naruto forced a strong heel into his back. The match was over.
Iruka snapped out of his daze, "Th-the spar is over! The winner is...Uzumaki, Naruto!"
The crowd was dead silent aside from a few whispers.
"What just happened?"
"Sasuke Uchiha lost? That's impossible!"
"He must've cheated! There's no way that Sasuke could've lost to that...that weirdo!"
Naruto heard the whispers, he took a deep breath as he removed his mask and tried not to let them get to him.
But then the yellow boy heard something else.
It was soft, a bit slow, but he had heard it.
A small bit of clapping.
Naruto turned his head towards the source, and met a pair of white eyes.
When she had saw him looking at her, Hinata stopped clapping and quickly hid her face behind her hands. Naruto had caught a glimpse of her face
The Hyuuga heir was...smiling? At him?
"Okay Uzumaki, get off of him." said Iruka.
Naruto lifted his foot off, and Iruka reached a hand out for Sasuke. But the Uchiha decided to get up himself without help.
"Alright then, perform the Seal of Rec-"
Sasuke broke away from the two, and headed for the circle. The other students got out of his way as he walked past them and kept going.
"Uchiha, Sasuke! Where do you think you're going?"
The Uchiha walked out of the back gates of the Academy and left.
Iruka slapped his forehead with the palm of his hand, he turned to the other kids, "I'm going to go get him. Everyone just stay here until I get back." Iruka took off after Sasuke, leaving Naruto alone in the center of the circle.
Surrounded by angry glares.
Naruto started to sweat a bit as a group of angry girls walked towards him.
This was not going to end well.
"Who do you think you are?" yelled a girl with pink hair and a rather large forehead.
The yellow boy didn't know how to answer that, the girl got closer.
"Think you're some big shot or something? How would you like it if you were humiliated like that in front of everyone?" the girl with pink hair pulled her arm back a bit. Naruto saw her fist balled up and prepared to dodge.
Luckily, he didn't have to.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" came the yell of Kiba who intercepted the girl's fist, "You're pissed at Naruto just because he was better than that loser?"
The forehead girl was gritting her teeth, "What did you call Sasuke?"
Kiba shoved her back, Akamaru growled at her, "I called him a loser! Running away like a pussycat, not man enough to admit defeat!"
The pink haired girl was going to say something else, but then she got a panicked expression. She looked down to see bugs crawling up her legs. The bugs were crawling to the other girls as well.
"EW! NO! GET THEM OFF! GET THEM OFF!" the girls that surrounded Naruto started freaking out.
Kiba and Naruto quickly slipped away back to where Shino, Shikamaru, and Chouji were standing. They looked back at the girls in the center of the circle still trying to swat away the bugs with little success. Four out of the five boys had an idea on who was behind this.
"...why are you all looking at me like that?" asked Shino.
Soon enough, Iruka came back with Sasuke and saw what was going on.
He ran to the center of the circle, "Haruno, Sakura! What in the world are you DOING?"
"Bugs! They're all over us!"
"What bugs? And you're the only one here!"
The girl named Sakura stopped and looked around, none of the other girls that went to confront Naruto were there.
They had all ran back to the circle as soon as they noticed the bugs were gone, and now they were all laughing at the girl in the center.
Naruto couldn't help but feel a bit guilty, "Uh...don't you guys think that's kinda too harsh?" he asked the others.
"Nope." flatly spoke Kiba.
Shikamaru shrugged, Chouji looked at the ground, Shino stood in place.
Iruka sighed, "Well, as long as you're here, we might as well set up the next match..." Iruka looked through his list, "Okay, next up is Haruno, Sakura and Hyuuga, Hinata!"
The girl named Sakura stood in place as the Hyuuga heir walked to the center of the circle. Hinata took her place and Iruka had the two perform the Seal of Confrontation, after which, the pink haired girl ran right at the white eyed girl.
"CHA!" she yelled as she threw a right hook.
It was almost too obvious, Hinata barely had to side-step the attack.
She decided to end the bout quickly and struck the Haruno girl with simple, harmless taps with two fingers from each hand.
It caused Sakura to fall down after three taps, and she stayed down after a meek attempt to stand up.
"Oh my...well technically that was basic taijutsu, so the winner is Hyuuga, Hinata!"
There was another round of modest clapping, with the addition of Naruto giving off a whistle. He had heard and read about the Hyuuga's Gentle Fist style from Kakashi's lessons, but to actually see it up close was something else.
Iruka helped Sakura back up, "Perform the Seal of Reconciliation, and return to the circle.
They did just that.
Iruka continued to call names for the sparring, but Naruto wasn't really interested in that anymore. While the other four boys watched as more of the students sparred, the yellow boy slipped away from the sort-of group they had formed.
Hinata had returned to her nearly isolated spot in the circle and tried to get a peek at where Naruto was standing. She saw a distinct lack of blonde hair in the group of mostly clan heirs. The Hyuuga girl wondered where the boy she admired went, and then realized that someone was behind her.
Slowly turning her head, the white-eyed girl was met with a smile.
Hinata quickly covered her mouth, daring not to let her excitement squeal out. The yellow boy had a finger over his lips, indicating that she should be quiet. He then motioned her to come a bit closer, which she did.
"Hello Hinata." Naruto whispered, "We didn't get a chance to talk in class, I'm sorry if I came as a bit cold, I didn't expect you or anyone else to really sit next to me."
The quiet girl was starting to push her fingers together as her mind raced at mach four, "Ah! He's actually talking to me! Come on Hinata, you have to respond! It's now or never!"
"T-that's quite alright Naruto-kun...thank you for apologizing though." Hinata practically forced the words out of her mouth, something she found to be much more difficult than sparring with that civilian girl.
Naruto smiled a friendly smile, "You know, it's kinda nice to finally talk to you without being interrupted..." the yellow boy then remembered something he should ask, "So...why exactly did you follow me around the past few years?"
"Well, um, I, uh..." Hinata's tongue had betrayed her again.
His friendly smile was still there, "It's okay, I'm not mad. Usually when I have people following me, they're yelling nasty stuff at me, and that's on a mild day. You never really got to say a word to me."
The Hyuuga closed her eyes and take a deep breath, trying to gather the right words that she spent three years trying to assemble.
Naruto was patient, and kept at attention.
"You inspired me." were the first words out of her mouth, "I don't know if you remember, but you helped me one day when I was in trouble. I felt so helpless, there were just too many of them and I had only just started training with my father in the Hyuuga's Gentle Fist. I didn't know what to do, and then you showed up, yelling at them for ganging up on someone."
Naruto nodded, he could feel a faint memory in the back of his head of something of the sort happening, "I think I got hit...a lot." he concluded.
Hinata looked down, blushing a bit, "You were unconscious when they left. But even so, you didn't give up. You gave it your all, even when you were going to lose."
Naruto scratched the back of his head, "You make it sound like I did something amazing, all I really did was just run up to a bunch of jerks and not think. It got me hurt, like it always did."
"But after that, you went on to try to get stronger. You didn't let one loss ruin your dreams, you just went and trained to get stronger with that nice jounin. That's what inspired me to take my own training more seriously." Hinata bowed, "Thank you, Naurto-kun."
The yellow boy couldn't help but blush a bit, it's like he got his first real fan! The moment would've last longer if Naruto didn't notice that someone had been watching them.
"The hell blondie? Did you get more birth marks when I wasn't looking?" asked a confused Kiba as he jabbed Naruto's cheek.
Naruto turned towards the dog-boy so quick that his neck may have snapped, "How long have you been here?" he asked.
"We've been here...ohhh...about a couple of minutes already. You missed a couple of the sparring matches by the way. None of which were anything to write about." answered Shino without turning his head. It appeared that he, along with Kiba, Shikamaru, and Chouji were forming a wall in front of Naruto and Hinata.
"All of you are here?"
"It's not like it wasn't obvious, anyone could see that you two were talking about something." Shikamaru told them, "We quickly got over here so Iruka wouldn't ask what in the world you two were doing, it would've been a real drag if he had to stop the spars again just for something this trivial."
Hinata was covering her face to hide her embarrassment, "Does this mean you all heard about..."
"More or less." answered the boy with shades.
Shikamaru shook his head, Kiba just chuckled a bit.
"Ah...Naruto?" asked the chubby boy.
"Hmm? What Chouji?" Naruto asked.
"Did...did you really stand up to a bunch of bullies?"
The blonde scratched his head, "I don't really remember right, I was hit in the head a lot when it happened...but I guess I did."
"Then-then you really are a great guy!" stars seem to form in Chouji's eyes.
Naruto didn't know what to say, so he gave a sheepish smile.
Hinata smiled too, happy to have said what she had.
XxXxX
The sparring ended and class was dismissed. Iruka left to check up on Mizuki who was supposedly grading the papers of the written test.
Sasuke Uchiha went off on his own again, followed by a mass of fan girls. The other civilian children went their own way as well.
This left Naruto alone with the group he had befriended. Shino had asked about the "Kakashi-sensei" Naruto had mentioned earlier, and Naruto relayed to the group about the jounin who had brought him in and trained him up until he got into the Academy.
"Wait...you don't mean the Copy Ninja Kakashi?" the Nara heir asked.
"Yep, well I did hear Gai-sensei call him that once or twice." Naruto answered.
"Who?" Kiba asked.
"Gai-sensei, he's a jounin instructor and great at taijutsu."
"I heard about him, they say he hits first and asks questions never." remarked the bug-user, "That, and he keeps ranting and raving about vitality and youth."
Kiba and Akamaru seemed to share a disturbed look.
"So ah, should we get going?" asked Chouji, "I mean, class is over, I think we should leave the Academy grounds...and I'm kinda hungry." It became apparent that the Akimichi boy was running out of chips.
Shikamaru nodded, "We'll have to continue this conversation later..."
The yellow boy thought up a great idea, "How about we continue it at Ramen Ichiraku?"
"What's that?" asked Hinata.
Naruto grinned, "It's the best ramen shop in town, that's what!"
"Oh! I heard one of my cousins talk about it!" chimed in Chouji, "Their endless beef bowl is to die for!"
Akamaru gave off a bark, Kiba patted his head, "I dunno Akamaru, I don't think they'll give ya anything."
"They might, I've seen Ayame throw out leftovers at strays once." Naruto answered.
Akamaru barked more.
"Okay buddy, we'll go. How about you?" Kiba asked the Aburame.
Shino just shrugged.
"I'd like to go too." added Hinata.
The yellow boy nodded, and pointed to the gate that led outside, "Alright! Let's go get some ramen!"
The six children left the Academy grounds and started to head for the ramen shop. That is until, someone jumped in front of their path.
"YOU!" the white-eyed ninja yelled, pointing at Naruto, "You dare defile the Hyuuga clan by associating yourself with our Lady Hinata?"
"The hell?" asked a confused Kiba.
Hinata gasped, "Oh no, I forgot about Ko..." she thought.
Naruto furrowed his brow, "How does becoming her friend defile anyone?" he demanded to know.
Hinata's caretaker folded his arms and stared down the blonde haired boy, "Something like you just wouldn't understand. Come my lady, we are returning to the compound."
Ko was looking directly at Hinata, expecting her to obediently follow him. She was shaking her head, "I am not going."
Ko's face was cross, he started walking towards the children. "You are coming with me, whether you want to or not." he said evenly. He moved his arm to grab Hinata, but Naruto stepped into his way. Ko just grabbed Naruto and threw him aside to the ground.
"Oh man!" Kiba went over to the fallen Naruto, accompanied by Chouji.
Shikamaru wasn't sure what to do, so he just hung back and observed the situation.
Shino didn't flinch, he had a hunch this would happen.
As for the Hyuuga heir, something inside her seemed to switch on as she watched the boy she admired be violently tossed aside by her caretaker. Her next movements were more of instinct than personal decision, and she perceived it all as more or less a blur. The reality, witnessed by the Nara and Aburame boys, was that the young Hinata subconsciously activated her bloodline limit known as the Byakugan and attacked the older Hyuuga man. They watched in awe as they watched the girl swiftly strike the man with precision, catching him completely off guard. Neither could really count how many times she had hit him, her hands were moving too fast for that, but it was all over after he fell over onto his back.
Hinata stood over her caretaker, catching her breath, "I...am...not...going!"
Ko didn't answer back, for he was knocked out cold.
"I think you got him." observed Shino.
Hinata turned her head, "Is Naruto-kun okay?"
"I'm fine." answered the yellow boy, he wiped a bit of blood from his mouth.
"He's bleeding!" yelled the Akimichi.
"I'm fine! I just bit my lip, he took me by surprise."
"Holy crap, you really gave it to that guy!" Kiba stated, seeing the unconscious man.
"Yeah, isn't your dad gonna be upset about that?" asked Shikamaru.
Hinata closed her eyes, "I do not know, but I will take full responsibility for what happened here."
"No, this happened because of me." said Naruto who was looking over the damage, "I don't really know why, but everyone seems to be provoked around me and-"
"Naruto-kun, it is fine." interrupted Hinata.
"Yeah, you didn't do anything!" Kiba added.
"If anything, this was self-defense. Plus nobody was seriously injured...probably." stated Shino.
"Relax, if anyone asks, we'll just say he tripped or something." commented Shikamaru.
Chouji just nodded.
Naruto was dumbstruck. This would probably mark the second time someone considered taking the blame instead of throwing the blame on him, the first being Lee saying he'd take the blame for the "Ramen Accident" until Naruto and Tenten talked him out of it. What's more, Naruto had only just met most of these kids today and none of them had acted hostile towards him unlike most others.
"Hey, you got dirt in your eyes or something?" asked the dog boy who saw Naruto starting to tear up.
"Huh? Oh, yeah." the blonde boy rubbed his eyes on one of his sleeves, "Alright, are we still going to get ramen?"
The six children continued on their way, walking around the unconscious Ko Hyuuga. They made their way to Ramen Ichiraku, making small talk as they went along the streets of Konoha. The group passed a couple of crowds on the way, with most passers-by occasionally staring at them in either scorn or confusion. For the most part, the kids ignored these stares but took note of it.
They arrived to the nearly empty ramen shop, where the lone patron eating there asked for her meal to-go once she saw the yellow boy approaching. The owner and chef Teuchi smiled as he saw his best customer take a seat with the other kids, "Good afternoon Naruto! I see you brought some friends."
Naruto introduced Teuchi to everyone, and everyone to Teuchi.
"Ah, it sounds like your first day at the Academy went well."
The yellow boy smiled, "Sure did, looks like Ayame is out delivering again."
Teuchi nodded, "We've been getting more and more take-out orders than usual."
"Because of me, right? Sorry about that."
"Think nothing of it, we just charge extra for delivery! Ayame doesn't mind."
"So what's the deal with everyone acting like that?" asked Kiba.
"Like what?" Teuchi asked.
"You know, like how that lady just left the second she saw blondie here. What's with that?" Akamaru barked, as if adding to Kiba's question.
Teuchi's face went flat for a second, "Oh hey, you know what? Since this is the first time I've seen any of you, how about a bowl on the house, huh? You kids must be hungry."
"Really? For free?" asked Chouji.
"First bowl only, what'll ya- oh you're an Akimichi, I know what you'll like!" Teuchi went to the cooker in the back of the ramen shop, away from the kids who had all taken a seat.
"Well that sure was odd." replied Shino.
"What, is he hiding something from us?" asked Kiba, Akamaru growled a bit.
Shikamaru shrugged, "Who cares? It's not like we need to know."
"I'm sure he has a good reason." Hinata commented.
Naruto nodded, he was about to say something but he stopped. He felt a disturbance in the air. Something was heading right for him, and he knew what it was. It was something he had to learn to deal with over the past few years. Naruto quickly turned around to face this adversary.
The first punch was blocked, and Naruto managed to push back his opponent away from the ramen shop. The two stared each other down at a moderate distance, and ran at each other. From the shop, the five clan heirs watched in a shared confusion as Naruto exchanged blow for blow with an unknown assailant who looked to be a bit taller and older than him. The two of them eventually got a hold of one another and pulled themselves onto the ground where they rolled around as they tried to hit one another.
From the corner of their eyes, a girl with hair buns ran at the two fighting boys and started smacking the two of them with a paper fan, "WHAT. DID. I. SAY. ABOUT. FIGHTING. IN. THE. STREET?" she yelled with each smack. Naruto and the other boy stopped their brawl and started rubbed their heads.
The girl with buns in her hair put away the paper fan, sighed, and walked over to the ramen shop, "Sorry you all had to see that. How embarrassing..."
The other kids didn't know what to say to that, Hinata thought the girl looked familiar, "Oh! You're Tenten! Naruto told us about you and Lee."
Tenten smiled, "Oh hey, you're that girl who followed him and us around a lot! That stiff guy ain't around today?"
Hinata's face turned a bit red, and couldn't think of what to say.
"Nah, she kicked his ass and left him on the side of the road earlier." answered Kiba, making Hinata try to hide her face.
Tenten's eyes flew open, "Wow, really?"
Hinata didn't answer, but the rest of the boys agreed that it was true.
At that point, Naruto and Rock Lee had dragged themselves to the ramen shop.
"Your youth is burning as fiercely as ever Naruto!" Lee complimented.
"Yeah, yours too!" replied the yellow boy with the same amount of enthusiasm.
Soon enough, everyone had a bowl to gulf down with Naruto, Chouji, Lee, and Kiba ordering more after quickly finishing. Ayame arrived from deliveries and Teuchi asked she could talk to him for a few minutes in the back. During this time, Naruto told the others about being raised and trained by Kakashi over the years and how he aims to become the Hokage of Konoha.
"So you wanna become the Hokage so everyone will have to listen to you?" Kiba asked.
The yellow boy shook his head and frowned, "At first maybe, but after training with Kakashi and learning about how brutal the ninja world really is, it made me realize something."
"What's that, Naruto-kun?" asked Hinata.
"It's full of violence, and hatred, and sadness. A lot of Kakashi-sensei's precious people died in battle, fighting for our village and country. Every morning we go out to the memorial stone dedicated to them, and he always looks so sad. Then I figure that it would be like that for anyone who's lost someone they cared so much for."
There was a brief silence among the ninja-in-training.
"So, first I will become Hokage, and then I'll see if I can influence Konoha into the right direction to bring about peace. To dedicate my life to find a way to change the world for the better, that is my ambition!" Naruto declared.
"Well good luck with that." deadpanned Kiba.
Shino and Shikamaru didn't appear to respond. Hinata, Chouji, and Lee were smiling at Naruto. Tenten smirked, having heard this over a hundred times.
The clock inside the ramen shop stated that it was getting to around five in the afternoon. "Well, it looks like we should head home. My mom will nag my ear off again if I show up late." Shikamaru finally said as he got up from his stool.
"Ah! Wait for me!" Chouji told him as he finished his bowl, "Bye Naruto!" he said as he followed Shikamaru who headed off towards home.
Kiba yawned, "Yeah, we should probably head back too, right Shi-" Kiba turned towards Shino who had already vanished, "Oh, so it's gonna be like that. See you at school tomorrow, blondie." Kiba and Akamaru left.
Tenten got up and stretched, "Should we go too Lee? It's your turn to do the dishes tonight anyway."
Lee groaned, and stayed in his seat.
"Do I have to get the fan out again?"
Lee got up, "Not necessary! Farewell Naruto, keep the fire of your youth burning strong!" Lee then ran off with Tenten after him.
"Lee! You're going the wrong way again!"
This left Naruto and Hinata at the ramen shop, the former starting to run out of noodles and was about to be stuck with soup and the latter feeling more and more anxious as she realized that the two of them were completely alone.
"Should I say something?" Hinata asked herself, she looked at the bar in front of the seats, "Perhaps, but what? I already gave him my thanks, he seems more focused on his meal, it would be rude to interrupt. Ah, but what do I say when he's done? He'll expect me to say something! If I don't, he'll think I'm being rude or weird or-"
"Hinata, you okay? You've been staring at the bar for awhile now." Naruto calmly told her.
"EEP!" she squeaked as she covered her face, the sudden movement caused her to fall backwards towards the ground. Hinata closed her eyes and braced for impact, but was surprised when she stopped falling. She opened her eyes to meet the single eye of a masked jonin.
"You just can't be left alone, can you?" joked Kakashi as he helped the Hyuuga heir back up into her seat and took one himself.
"Oi Kakashi-sensei!" Naruto cheered, greeting his sensei and legal guardian.
"Hey Naruto, I take it your first day without me around went well."
The yellow boy beamed, "You bet! You won't believe what happened today!"
Naruto relayed to Kakashi all the events that had happened earlier, though he left out the part with Hinata attacking her caretaker, much to her relief. Kakashi raised his eyebrow when he heard that Naruto beat Sasuke in their spar, but Hinata confirmed this was true. What the yellow boy talked the most about was how he had managed to befriend five of his classmates including Hinata.
Kakashi gave one of his eye-smiles and ruffled Naruto's hair, "Well, look at you! Making lots of friends on your first day! I knew you could do it."
Naruto laughed and tried to make Kakashi stop messing with his hair.
Hinata giggled at this, and looked at the clock again to see that it was getting quite late for her, she got off her seat and turned towards Naruto and Kakashi, "Excuse me, but I must be going before my father sends out a search party."
"Want us to walk you home?" Naruto offered.
Hinata shook her head, "Thank you, but I will be fine. I'll see you tomorrow Naruto-kun."
Naruto waved as she left the shop for home, the sun overhead was starting to set on the horizon.
"We should be going as well." stated Kakashi.
Naruto nodded, the two said goodbye to Teuchi and Ayame and left for their apartment. The yellow boy couldn't wait for the sun to rise the next day.

A/N: This one took a while, mostly due to college classes nearing their end, other projects I'm working on, and my constant worry if the fighting scenes aren't any good. More updates may take more time due to my summer job.
Next chapter: More fun at the Academy and Kakashi shows what happens if you harm his students.
