Official Disclaimer

The characters of Steve McGarrett, Chin Ho Kelly, Kono Kalakaua, Adam 'Toast' Charles and anyone else within the story who might sound familiar do not belong to me in any shape or form, I am merely using them for my own entertainment purposes.

The character of Danni Williams could probably be considered mine by now. Although the character was originally based on male Danny Williams I think it's probably to say that she is now her own individual character. She has her own story and her own separate background now, a background and story which is different from male Danny's story. This also means that Grace is different as well since not only does she live full time with her mother but also because Danni and Duncan have a fairly civil relationship with each other. Grace's surname is also Taylor in this saga as Williams is Danni's maiden name while Taylor was her married name.

The characters of Special Agent Jack O'Connor, Ryan Moore and Wendy George do belong to me though.

I should also add that if a character is mentioned who you don't recognise from the show then they probably belong to me as well.

Chapter Four

Raise the alarm

Toast blinked at the sound of a dial tone filled his ears before he brought it down and ended the call on his end, staring down at the handset with a growing sense of unease at the abrupt way Danni had ended the conversation between them. A way which wasn't like her, the only one who tended to end calls after only a few words was Steve. Danni was his opposite, taking her time on calls, talking to whoever was on the line, teasing him like an older sister if it was him before she hung up.

The only thing that he could think of to explain it was that something had happened at the house, something which had caught her attention complete and utterly and which required her full attention. The question was what it was that had managed it. It wouldn't have been Steve or Chin turning up there because he knew from the grey dot on the monitor above him that Steve's Silverado was on route to the headquarters.

"What's up with you? You look like the weight of the world is suddenly on your shoulders."

Toast started, looking over his shoulder towards the entrance of their headquarters in time to see Jack walk in, holding a large cup of coffee in one hand and a large blue smoothie which Toast knew instantly was for him.

"Man Jack, you are a sight for sore eyes right about now." Toast said, stepping forward and accepting the smoothie from him, absently sniffing at it and grinning when he recognised the familiar scent of blueberries and bananas.

"Thanks, I think" Jack replied mildly with a raised eyebrow, his pale blue eyes searching Toast's face curiously, clearly picking up on something. "You do know that I was only gone for about fifteen maybe twenty minutes so that welcome you gave me while pleasant wasn't warranted which means that something happened while I was out so tell me what it is."

"I don't know, maybe, maybe not, maybe I'm just reading into things" Toast replied, placing his drink on the side before he reached up and ran his hand through his dark hair, glancing back towards Jack when the older man placed a calming hand on his shoulder.

"How about you start at the beginning Toast and then we'll take it from there okay?" Jack advised as he took his hand away and took a sip of his coffee, his eyes not leaving Toast's dark ones. Toast had to hand it to him, if it had been Steve who had been with him then he would have already snapped at him by now. Steve had a great number of qualities both good and bad, but being patient, especially when it came to Toast, wasn't one of the good ones. Jack, like Chin and Danni, however seemed to have a well of patience.

"Okay, the beginning, I can do that. I was here going through the case like McGarrett wanted when Blondie called me. She and Kono were at Wendy George's house checking to see if she was there and doing what they do. I don't think she was there though because Blondie asked me to look into Wendy and see when the last time someone had seen her both in person and online which I'm guessing she wouldn't need to know if the girl had been in her house. I did what she wanted and called her back to tell her what I had found out."

"Okay" Jack said slowly when Toast stopped and ran his hand through his hair again. "Sounds pretty normal so far."

"It was" Toast agreed with a nod of his head. "But then she's half way through telling me to do something and then she just stops speaking, goes silent for like a second and then tells me that she will call me back and just hangs up on me. I know that technically someone hanging up on me isn't that big a deal but…"

"But it is a big deal when it's Danni who is the one who is hanging up on you." Jack finished his sentence, a concerned look coming to his face as he straightened, his coffee forgotten in his hand. "Have you tried to call her back?"

"No, I mean she did say she would call me back and I thought that maybe if something was happening then she wouldn't want the distraction. Do you think I should though?" He said, biting his lip when Jack nodded at him. "Okay. I guess it wouldn't cause any harm." Toast pressed on the number one button on his cell phone and brought it back to his ear, frowning when the phone merely rang and rang before Danni's voicemail kicked in. "She didn't pick up." He stated.

"I see" Jack said with a frown, placing his drink besides Toast. "Give it a moment and try again." He instructed. Toast shrugged and pressed the recall button, frowning when it went straight to voicemail.

"Nothing, either she is on the phone to someone or the battery is dead because it just went straight to voicemail." He told the older man.

"There's no way that the battery would be dead, Danni always keeps it charged in case Grace needs to reach her." Jack stated with a shake of his head.

"I'm having one of those gut feelings which the rest of you are always going on about. I think that something might have happened to Danni and Kono. I think they are in trouble and if they are in trouble then they are going to need our help." Toast said, crossing his arms across his chest nervously.

"I'm getting the same feeling" Jack admitted "I'm going to call both Kono and Danni at the same time, and see if we get lucky. One of them might be on the phone but it not likely that both would be at the same time." Toast nodded watching as Jack headed to the computer table and brought a screen, selecting both Danni's and Kono's names and hitting a button. He raised his eyes as two separate pictures of Kono and Danni appeared on the plasma screen with their cell phone numbers beneath them. Jack reached out and pressed both of the picture on the computer table, activating the call, a frown coming to his face when both phones rang for two rings before both going dead at the same time.

"That's not good right?" Toast asked after a moment, looking towards Jack who shook his head at him.

"It means that their cell phones have either been turned off by someone or, if they are being extra careful, destroyed by someone. It will make tracing them harder through we both know that there are other ways around it." Jack replied, sounding distracted as he typed away. "Toast, do me a favour and hack into Pearl Harbour and see whether there are any satellites over Hawaii. We might be able to get some coverage. I'll call Steve and Chin and fill them in so they can head over to the house and see what's happened." The blond instructed as he brought up Steve's number and pressed the connect button. It rang three times before it was answered with a familiar.

"McGarrett"

"Steve, it's Jack, we've got a problem. We've lost contact with both Danni and Kono, both their phones went off at the same time and we haven't been able to activate the GPS chip in them meaning that someone has probably destroyed the phones. Toast was speaking to Danni about fifteen minutes ago but she hung up on him telling him she would call him back shortly but there has been no contact since then." Jack said, getting straight to the point, something which Toast couldn't blame him for, they had all realised quickly that there was very little point in trying to sugar-coat anything for Steve when it was something to do with Danni.

"Where were they?" Steve demanded, an edge to his voice which made Toast suddenly extremely glad he wasn't in the car with Steve and also extremely sorry for Chin, who was.

"They were both at Wendy George's house boss." Toast answered.

"Wendy George?" Steve repeated.

"Yeah, she was the last girl they had to check out, one of the three who are still missing. It sounded like Wendy wasn't there so they were in the house looking around, trying to find if there was anything around the house which they could use. I was on the phone to Blondie when she suddenly changed, it was like one second she was Blondie, and the next second she was… well she was Danielle." He told Steve, describing the change the only way he could. Blondie was like his older sister who he loved, Danielle, was the no nonsense Detective who wouldn't take shit from anyone, not even her partner.

"Something must have happened while she was at the house, she must have seen or heard something." Toast heard Chin say.

"That's what I thought when she hung up so abruptly." Toast admitted. "It's just not like her you know?"

"Send me the address of Wendy George's house, we'll keep on the line with you as we move. What are you doing to track them O'Connor?" Steve demanded.

"Their GPS is out at the moment but Toast is currently hacking into Pearl Harbour to see what satellite are currently above is, we'll look at the images we can see. If Danni felt comfortable enough in the house to call Toast then it means that she and Kono had already cleared the house and she thought she was safe enough to make that call. So…" Jack's stopped, his voice trailing off as he shook his head as though he didn't quite understand the situation. "I've sent the address to your cell phones."

"How did someone manage to get the drop on both of them? They are damned good at what they do and I've never seen anyone get the drop of them together, maybe once or twice if they were alone but never together." Chin commented, a frustrated undertone to his voice.

"That's your answer" Steve answered flatly. "They were separated from each other for some reason, no doubt Danni was in one room while Kono was searching another one. If you take one of them out then the other would come and their full attention would be on the fallen team mate. It would be easy enough to take the second one by surprise if she was more concerned about whether the other one was still alive. Any additional room clearing they did would have been basic at best."

"Jesus" Toast said, his hands stilling for a moment before he forced himself to continue the hack.

Before anyone else could say anything, the sound of static from the radio in Steve's truck came across the line followe distinctive feminine voice with a South African accent.

"Commander McGarrett this is dispatch. Uniformed Officers were called in for backup at 1515 Maliana Avenue by Detective Williams but when they arrived the house was empty. They did find blood on the floor of the study, Detective Williams's bag in the kitchen and her car park outside opposite the house. They have secured the scene and are awaiting CSU but you may want to get there soon to check out the scene and to collect Danni's... I mean Detective Williams bag. Dispatch out."

There was a long silence which was broken by Steve, his voice still as flat and expressionless as before.

"It appears that our theory is correct and someone has managed to get the drop on Kono and Danni and has taken them somewhere. Toast have you completed the hack yet?"

"Nearly boss, it's going to take me another two minutes or so because I need to make sure that they don't trace it back to us because otherwise the Governor will be all over us again, plus the Navy wouldn't be thrilled that I'm hacking into them again, not to mention that it would damage your relationship with them." Toast replied, aware even as he did that he was rambling.

He bit down on his lower lip, ignoring the quick flash of pain the action caused and continued typing aware of Jack working on something opposite him. Normally he liked it when it was just him and Jack in the office but this time it was different. This time Danni and Kono were in danger and Toast didn't even want to think about what would happen to the team if something happened to them, especially Danni. The thought of dealing with a Steve without Danni being there to rein him in, a Steve who would be torn apart from guilt and despair, was something Toast didn't even want to think about let alone experience.

"Toast" Steve warned, not needing to say anything further to get his message across.

"I know, I know Boss, less rambling, more action. We are now in" Toast said, his eyes flickering up to Jack as he continued to speak. "I'm sending you the coordinates and the images from the nearest satellite to us now Jack." He hit the enter button and breathed out, moving uneasily as a silence descended broken only by the sound of Steve's driving well above the speed limit before Jack finally spoke.

"Okay, I'm looking through the past images now, it won't tell us who they were straight away but we might get a good picture of the van or car they used which we can then run through the database. Chin, did you take your tablet with you?" He asked.

"Yeah I've got it Jack" Chin answered.

"Good, log in and I'll send you the images as well, maybe we'll get lucky and the guy will still be lingering around which means that Danni and Kono might still be nearby as well."

"It looks like there were two of them" Toast said, squinting at the screen. "It's hard to tell exactly from the angle which we have but they seem to have entered through the side of the house, thing is that I've brought up the blueprints of the house and there is no sign of an entrance there. Just the one at the front and one on the back."

"That would explain how someone managed to get the drop on them" Chin commented thoughtfully. "Danni and Kono would have cleared the rooms and been aware of the front and back entrances into the property. They wouldn't have been expecting someone to come in after their first initial scan of the property from a hidden entrance, though why a place like this one needs a secret entrance is beyond me. If they were in separate areas of the house from one another then it would have been easy to manage."

"We're pulling up to the house now." Steve said suddenly. "O'Connor, as soon as you find the car and the name of the person it belongs to then send it to both Chin and I. I want their names and I want them as soon as possible."

"Dare I ask what you plan to do once you have found them?" Jack asked mildly, glancing up when a silence met his question.

"Once I've found them, then I'll make them wish that they had never touched a hair on my partner's head" Steve answered coldly, ending the call on his end.

For a moment Jack and Toast merely stared at each other before Toast spoke.

"Do you think he's going to kill them?" He asked, watching as a glimmer of what looked like pity came to Jack's face.

"Who knows, the only thing I know is that we have work to do if we want to get Danni and Kono back unharmed so I suggest we do it and do it quickly before McGarrett really loses it. You with me Toast?" He asked firmly.

Toast nodded, meeting his gaze with a look of determination.

"I'm with you"
