Isn't It Incidentally Incestuous?

Chapter-4

Creative Retaliation

The professor waited for an answer. He glared at the class and huffed in disappointment. "Not surprising when half the students nap during the class." He didn't bother pointing out the few particular students with their heads down on the desk sleeping away. Nao who was engrossed in her phone turned to her right and smirked. Natsuki was one of the sleeping students. Natsuki's head was laid down on her right outstretched hand as she slept away the lecture. They were sitting in the middle of the hall where the number of heads were far too much, lessening the risk of being pointed out by the lecturer. Nao's recorder was doing its job perfectly, kept safely on top of the desk. Jotting down notes while listening and pretending to be interested in all the knowledge gaining procedure was something she wasn't too fond of. So she recorded her lectures daily and sat down at the weekends to go through it diligently as a student should.

When the class finished, Nao prodded Natsuki's shoulder to wake her up. The sleeping beauty mumbled something but didn't stir. She was too far gone to realize it was a lecture hall, not her bedroom. Her mouth parted a little and within seconds a trail of drool crept its way slowly toward her right upper arm via her cheek. Nao immediately set her phone to record while repeatedly hitting Natsuki's legs with her foot. It was pure gold!

Natsuki thought her sleep was restless and wanted to turn on her back in hopes of getting into a comfortable laying position. But her neck protested any move and her right upper arm felt unnecessarily heavy. She moved it out of the way and her face hit a hard surface instantly. Her eyes opened wide and she blinked rapidly trying to focus on her surroundings. The first thing she heard was the buzz of the students followed by a familiar laugh. Her eyes caught the sight of the phone that was too close to her face for comfort and she knew what was happening. She pushed herself in a seating position and with her left hand slapped at the phone. "Put that thing away, Nao," she groaned as she stretched her back and hands. She yawned shamelessly and cursed silently at her stiff neck. "How long was I out?"

Nao chuckled at that. She kept her eyes on the screen as she saved the video and said, "the whole lecture, baby." She pocketed her phone; the recorder was shoved into her backpack safely as she stood up. Looking down at the lethargic Natsuki, she proposed, "come on! We both need a bit of fresh air after that."

Minutes later they were sitting on the bleachers of the football ground while munching away on the chips and coke they had gotten from the cafeteria. In the middle of chewing Natsuki yawned again. Nao frowned and finally asked. "What is wrong with you? Why have you been napping in the lectures these last few days?"

Natsuki gulped down her coke and placed the can somewhere behind her. She rubbed her face with both her hands and groaned. "I live in a sex dungeon." She mumbled into her hands.

"What?" Nao's coke can stopped halfway to her mouth when she thought she heard something about a 'sex dungeon'.

"Did you know how fucking horny these surgeons are all the time?" Natsuki asked the redhead with genuine surprise and disgust. Nao's face betrayed even more confusion. She sighed and started explaining. She told Nao how frequently someone from the hospital was always around in the flat, either being loud and obnoxious while hanging out or having rather shamelessly ear-splitting sex in the other guest bedroom. Which resulted in her being irritated all the time and not being able to concentrate on studying and catching up on sleep here and there at odd hours. She had even tried ear plugs but they only muffled the noise, it didn't do anything to mellow down the over-active mind that was aware of strangers' presence nearby. Once finished she folded her hands on her knees and put her head down.

Nao remained silent for a few minutes, thinking. "Do you think it's deliberate?"

Natsuki scowled and looked at her as if not believing she had asked that question. "Haven't you been listening?" She hissed. "Of course it is intentional," her tone took a turn to whining at the end.

"Then why don't you do something?" Nao failed to understand the exact problem. "You could talk to her...erm your flatmate or even better you could tell your mother," she suggested.

"First, I haven't talked to my flatmate yet," Natsuki said and fought the blush that was about to garner her face. She still remembered how she had floundered in presence of Shizuru both the times. "And two, sure, of course. Let's call my mother so that she can take me back to Fuuka." She sighed dramatically. "No thanks."

"You are such a baby sometimes," Nao shook her head. "You are your mother's daughter, aren't you?" She stared at Natsuki without blinking.

Natsuki knew the intent of that question. Saeko would have torn Shizuru apart by now. But Natsuki wasn't exactly like her mother. She wasn't fond of manipulating those around her and she certainly wasn't a fan of conflicts and confrontations. This arrangement, as reluctant as it may be, was somehow important for her mother. And she knew that, which was why she wanted this matter to be resolved without any further drama. Retaliation would do the exact opposite, she knew. Maybe she was being foolish and she didn't have any idea of the extent of dislike Shizuru had for her but she believed that 'an eye for an eye' was never the solution, only the way to much bigger problems. She breathed out a heavily and relented under Nao's stare. "I will try talking to her," she said with no confidence in her voice.

Nao narrowed her eyes but didn't say anything further. She turned to look out at the field. Some seniors were doing cheerleading practice and she settled on perving at them instead of butting head with her thick-headed friend.

That very night, Natsuki was too much in need of the perfect sleep. It was close to midnight and she was just roaming around the apartment waiting for the disturbing elements to come and create the usual ruckus. The last batch had left just early that evening. She groaned in frustration at the end of yet another wide yawn. She jumped up and down a few times trying to keep her eyes open, stretched her body, her limbs, and basically did anything and everything physical so that she didn't go to sleep only to be woken up by a group of obnoxious surgeons about to come soon. She couldn't chill out on the couch even if she wanted to. Who knew whose body fluids were still lingering on the surface of the couch? She thought back to what Nao had said to her on the football ground bleachers. Sure, she didn't want to retaliate and make this matter a lot worse than it already was but what about a little tweaking? That shouldn't hurt, right? Not exactly a manipulation, but a temporary tilt of circumstances in her favour. That she was allowed to do, wasn't she?

She took out the carton of juice from the fridge and worked her mind tirelessly for a few minutes. Well, technically if she wanted this matter to die down on its own, she shouldn't do what she was planning on but damn it she needed at least ten hours of continuous, undisturbed sleep. She made her decision and after ample amount of twisted justifications in her mind, she switched on the television as she waited for the surgeons to arrive.

Thirteen minutes into watching on the discovery channel about how immensely hard-working and powerful tiny, little ants were finally the disturbance arrived. They were three, two guys and a girl. The girl was staying close to the long-haired guy and was only friendly with the other one. So Natsuki assumed she and the long-haired guy would be using the bedroom later on.

She nodded at them casually as if she had been doing it for years, "hey."

Two of them frowned but the single guy smirked and greeted her back. "Hey you." The tone was nothing if not flirty.

Natsuki grimaced and continued on her set plan. "You guys here for the room?" She asked, projecting that she wasn't the idiot they all thought she was and she was obviously aware of her surroundings. She clicked her tongue once and shook her head. "If I were you, I wouldn't." She nonchalantly stated and went back to place the juice carton into the fridge.

"Why not," the surgeon chick retorted haughtily.

Natsuki looked at her already bored with the show of that entirely unnecessary attitude. "Well, some of my friends from college spent a few hours here tonight." She purposely didn't dish out any details. Lying to them proved to be easier than she thought.

The single guy shrugged her shoulders and made a face asking 'why would it make any difference'. Natsuki smiled wide at him. "Well, my friends have this habit of hardly bathing, and their hair is all dirty and knotted," she paused and widened her eyes for effect, "and god, do they smell funny?" She chuckled as if she had just shared a joke.

The girl huffed impatiently and again with the same attitude grunted, "so?"

"Well, I don't know about you guys but I suspect they had to have lice in those hairs, and maybe some bed bugs they unknowingly carry with all their stuff," she put both her hands on the back of the couch and pretended to think. "Oh...and if they did the dirty deed in there," she made a sympathetic voice and nodded to the said bedroom in question, " which I am pretty sure they did. They definitely and surely left some crabs on the bedsheet." She then shook her disappointingly. "I am sorry but I owed them, so I kind of had to call them here to hang out."

Natsuki shrugged her shoulders and finally seemed to make her way to her bedroom. Suddenly she snapped her right hand fingers as if she remembered something. She turned to look at the three dumbfounded faces and asked with as much interest she could gather. "By the way, did you guys know that crabs are also called 'Pubic lice'? I mean seriously, isn't that funny?" She flicked her wrist and laughed it off. Bidding them good night, she made her way to her bedroom and shut the door behind her. Without making any sound she pumped both her hands in the air, congratulating herself on being able to carry out the facade that long. She bobbed her heads and shook her hips as she traced her way to her bed backwards and then moonwalked to the door to eavesdrop on the conversation going on in the living room. She heard a very clear displeased female voice, "Are you fucking with me? I am so not going in there!" And then the loud bang of the front door being shut forcefully which she assumed was the angry girl storming out of the apartment.

She sighed happily. When she sat on the bed, she gazed at her pillow and caressed it like a long lost lover. "Oh...I missed you too, darling," she whispered and lay down with no worries at all. The peace and quiet felt like a mother's loving embrace and she willingly surrendered to as she gave herself up to finally, finally roam around slumberland freely and endlessly.

It had taken two days for the rumor mill to do its job. The news of her flat being infested with all kinds of bugs at the moment floated around the hospital as if it was the motto of an 'awareness campaign'. The six of them were on the roof of the hospital. Shizuru's shift had just ended and she had called Youko to pick her up. She was in the mood for some drinking and dancing that night. All the others were in scrubs ready to start their first round in twenty minutes or less.

Shizuru inhaled a long breath as she came down of her laughing fit. "Bed bugs and crabs?" She exclaimed and the laughter threatened to take over again. It was so nonsensical and yet the three adults, highly-educated surgeons had believed a college girl's lies. She shook her head fondly at the hilarious, non-harmful, and small form of retaliation at Natsuki's part. So, she wasn't the silent, small town girl she had taken her to be. Mutt's got teeth, huh? She laughed at herself, on underestimating Natsuki. She turned and looked over the city from the rooftop. Her smile refused to abandon her lips and it only grew wider once she realized that even if she had waged a silent war against Natsuki, the college girl needed the proper amount of respect she deserved. And after this incident, she had no doubt that Natsuki was quite capable of handling herself, very creatively too.

Her friends had started conversing in themselves about certain patients giving them hard time. "Hmmm," she exhaled and turned to them. "I suggest you all get your things out of my apartment. It's Saturday tomorrow and I am getting my place thoroughly cleaned up." She interrupted them.

"Two weeks already?" Reito questioned dumbly.

"We are not stupid enough to keep anything at your place," Haruka pointed out for herself and Yukino. "You have the whole weekend off?"

"Yes," Shizuru released a long sigh of relief. "After all the overtime I have put in this week, I think it's pretty justified." The group hummed their approval and their disapproval at the same time. She turned to Reito, "You sure you don't have any clothes lying around at my place?"

Reito was a known slob. He frowned indignantly, "after that one time, whatever I leave at your place is not that important to me. One loss was enough to make me come to my senses."

Shizuru chuckled at the memory. "Well, you did keep it in my closet."

"What was I supposed to do?" Reito huffed. "Throw it in the pile with others in the guest bedroom? It was Calvin Klein!"

"Dude," Tate grumbled from behind him. He frankly didn't understand his friend's obsession with those two pairs of underwear. "Let it go already! And if I can remember correctly, Shizuru warned you beforehand."

"That's easy for you to say. They were very expensive. She should have just told me directly," Reito spat back. "An ambiguous warning to get my shit out of her closet was not enough. She should have said that her obsessive and stalkerish housemaid is just plain fucking crazy." He was right back to feeling angry about the loss of those underpants.

"And territorial," Tate added.

"And psychotic, clearly," Haruka provided.

"A sociopath?" Youko mumbled from beside Shizuru.

"Okay, okay, I get it," Shizuru gritted her jaw. "I didn't ask for her diagnosis. I just want my houseguest to be the focus of her craziness this time. So, I don't want any of your belongings to deter her from her focus. Understood?" She eyed every one of them one by one.

"Oh...that poor girl," Reito pretended to sympathise. "She is going to be a few clothes short by the weekend." He laughed at his own joke.

"Oh, make sure to get the guest bedroom cleaned up thoroughly," Youko suggested.

"Yes. Of course, I will. But I don't think there are any lice, bedbugs, or crabs to be scared of," she cackled as she finished. "I am sure Tomoe will do as spotless job as always." She was eagerly waiting for the standoff between Tomoe and Natsuki, which was bound to happen. She never really took an interest in her housekeeper's life but one thing she was certain of. She would not be pleased to know that her mistress was sharing quarters with someone. And with the way she obsessed over Shizuru, some kind of reaction was bound to happen. She was curious to see what though. Hmmm...this weekend was going to be dramatic, if nothing else.

Well, Tomoe comes into the picture now!

And if Tomoe's craziness doesn't work, what will Shizuru do next?

We are gonna have to wait and see, don't we?

Hope it was good. Till next time.
