Yay! I'm back!
So the nick name for this one: love.
Also, this is a future fic. Kate and Rick have two kids. Kate is already senator.
He looked out at them, running around, completely care free. They always made him feel especially happy. He couldn't go anywhere without so much as a picture of them both. They were his heart.
Anna- His nine year old, brown eyed little angel. She was everything he was and more. Same creativity, same imagination, same energy. Half the time, she literally was a nine year old on a sugar rush. She definitely had his personality, but she was a spitting image of Kate. When they found out Kate was pregnant, neither of them could've been happier. When she was born, it was Rick's idea to name her Johanna. Kate was all to thrilled and ready to agree. Johanna adored both her parents, but was exuberantly a "Daddy's Girl". She always wanted to be around her father and sometimes, Kate became irrationally jealous, but soon found it cute, especially when Johanna requested (and received) her own desk in Rick's office. She adored anything pink and sparkly and shared a similar fashion sense with her grandmother. Martha was a person their daughter aspired after and, though it scared both Kate and Rick, it made her grandmother proud. Ever since the day she was born, Johanna Alexandra Castle has been the light of their lives. Well, excluding their son.
Holt- Holton Jackson Castle His five year old blue eyed red head. He was nothing short of a miracle. His conception was extremely accidental which, in the long run, made for a difficult pregnancy. Unlike Anna, Holt hadn't been discovered until a month and a half after Kate was pregnant. Luckily, she hadn't done anything to wrong to harm the baby, but there were still risks. Throughout her pregnancy, there'd been two close calls, rumors of blindness and hearing loss and an extremely difficult delivery. But, after everything, they'd received their glowing little boy, their angel. Both Alexis and Martha were extremely pleased with the boys features and of course the matriarch took all the credit for his appearance. His name came from an extension of Kate's middle name and his father's name. On the day Holton was born, Castle could've sworn one of the male nurses in the delivery room had a very distinct pair of blue eyes that he couldn't place at the moment, but after careful consideration, he knew it was his father. Always watching out for him, just like he said.
As far as Holt's care, Kate was the most enthusiastic. There was fear of the child becoming spoiled and clingy, considering Kate coddled him at every chance she got, which was very often. Holt turned out to be a fairly independent kid, considering, and often impressed others by how smart he was. In fact, he was even given the chance to jump straight into first grade (which was still being considered because Kate had extreme separation anxiety) and his reading level was that of a second grader (which Rick took credit for). Holt was almost exactly like Alexis, excluding having his mother's exact personality, and made friends quite easily. Yes, he truly marveled at his children.
"Penny for your thoughts." He looked away long enough to see his lovely wife sitting next to him.
"Just marveling at our amazing children." He turned to meet her beautiful hazel eyes "Hey love, I missed you."
"Missed you more." She leaned in and planted a passionate kiss on his lips.
"I definitely missed that." She said. He groaned and she laughed, attracting the attention of the two children making sand castles near the shore.
"Mommy!" Holt screamed and ran straight for her. Once there, he jumped into her arms and gave her a crushing hug.
"Hey big guy. You miss me?" He giggled as his mother tickled him, but she stopped when she caught sight of her daughter, walking reluctantly towards the group.
"Come here, sweet girl." She placed Holt in the sand and pulled her daughter into her lap.
"You know I love you, right?" Anna nods
"And I could never stay mad at you?" Another nod.
Rick recalled the events that lead to her daughter's reluctance.
It was a Friday and Beckett was leaving for a conference with the mayor. The kids were out of school and they were headed to the Hampton house, where Beckett would meet them. Her job was to schmooze the mayor a bit then go in for the kill with the renovation plan for some precincts. She knew exactly what would turn his head: season tickets for the Knick's games. The mayor had been trying to get his hands on the early additions for awhile and they were the only pair left. Rick had been able to pull some strings and now she would be able to get this over with and spend some well deserved time with her family. Kate was in search of the tickets when Johanna brought her a picture with cut up paper that spelled out "Good Luck, Mom" on it.
"That's very nice sweetie, but Mommy's in a hurry okay?"
"Just look for one second, Mommy, please?"
"Alright, alright." She immediately regretted turning around. The pieces of cut up paper were the tickets she was meant to give the president.
"NO! WHAT DID YOU DO?!"
"I- I just"
"Johanna Alexandra Castle, I am extremely disappointed in you!" Her daughter's eyes began to water furiously. Rick walked in and kneeled down to the now crying girl and furious Beckett.
"Hey Princess, what's wro-" when he caught sight of the picture, immediately understood.
"Oh, Kate." He reached for her, but she grabbed her bag and pushed past him and out the door.
"Baby look at me," her daughter looked at her with unshed tears in her eyes "Anna, Mommy is very sorry. I didn't mean to get so upset at you. I was just very stressed, but I shouldn't have taken that out on you. I'm so so sorry." Johanna hugged herself tighter to her Mom and whispered an "I love you" before leaning back and looking straight into her mother's eyes.
"So," she sniffs "I didn't ruin your job?"
"No, you didn't honey. You actually made it better." The three confused looks she received urged her to continue.
"I showed Mayor Aldridge the picture and he laughed for ten minutes straight. He said that he would not only approve the precinct renovations, but he would, and I quote 'love to meet the little spitfire who keeps his best senator on her toes'."
They all shared a laugh and Anna looked at her Mom with proud eyes. "Well, tell him thank you."
"You can tell him yourself. He's invited us for dinner next weekend."
"Really?!" Her excited squeal rang through the private beach.
"Yes, really," the girl beamed up at her mother "and I'm sorry again Anna."
"It's okay, Mommy. I love you."
"I love you too, Sweetie." They shared a hug until Johanna broke at looked at her mom with an idea in her eyes.
"What is it honey?"
"Mommy?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you think if I cut up Daddy's manuscript and made a picture for Aunt Gina, she'd stop calling to threaten him?"
The entire beach was filled with the laughter of all four Castles and, in that moment, none of them could've been happier.
Oh, yeah. So, this was gonna be like a hundred words, but the characters have a mind of their own.
BTW, that ticket thing actually happened to me. Fifth row, Katy Perry concert, me and my little sister didn't talk for two weeks.
Love Always, XOXOX
