A/N I'm sorry about the wait you guys. I have no excuse for being away for this long. But hey, at least I came back. Please forgive me. I'll try to update more often but no promises. But I promise not to be away as long as I was again. I hope you guys still like how this story is going. The plot line is still the same but I wanted this to be a longer story so I'm putting drama in the middle of it. Please leave some feedback on how I'm doing. Also, please still keep in mind that English is not my first language and I'm dyslexic. With that, enjoy!

There was tension looming in the air around them, threatening to suck all the air out of the room, but the two occupants in it didn't seem to notice.

They were currently sitting across the room from each other, taking their own sides of the once furnished living room. Garry was seated on the step by the door while Ib was sitting at the bay window that overlooked the city below.

She couldn't bring herself to even attempt to glance back at the eyes that were staring intently at her from the window's reflection.

Those eyes, the same eyes she had come to know, the same eyes she found comfort in during her darkest nights. Those eyes were the ones who knew her better than she knew herself. Those eyes she had come to have fallen in love with, were now leaving her behind. She shook her head, ridding herself of such thoughts.

Hugging her knees tighter into herself, she laid her head upon them not wanting to think about the only other thing she could think about, which was him leaving her. She let her hair fall upon her face so that Garry could not see her from the reflection of the window's glass.

Tears had started to form in her eyes but she refused to let them fall. If she let them fall, it would only mean that she accepted that he was leaving and she wouldn't, couldn't, accept it. Not when he was there with her in the room.

Meanwhile, Garry was being plagued by his own thoughts. He couldn't help but to stare at her, mentally taking a picture of her sitting there, looking so serious yet so sad at the same time.

He sighed quietly to himself, wanting to say something, do something, but he knew he shouldn't. As Ib hid her face away he felt a tightening in his chest as he knew that he was the one that brought that sadness onto her.

He had broken his own promise, a promise that he made on that day, the day they had escaped together from the gallery. He remembered looking into the big, red eyes of a small girl and promising himself to protect that girl.

He promised that he would do everything he could to bring a smile on her face. He promised to wipe away her tears. He promised to fight away her fears, even if he himself was scared. He promised to never leave that little girl's side.

Yet here he was shattering that promise into a million little pieces, like fragments of a vase that had fallen from a shelf.

He ran his hand through his hair, making it more mussed than it already was with purple strands sticking up all over the place. He turned his eyes toward the ground so that he wouldn't have to see what he had done. He knew Ib was hurting, but he didn't know what to do to make the hurting stop.

As the both of them were lost in their own world thought, neither of them noticed the drop of temperature in the room. It started with a little chill, something that wouldn't be noticeable in an apartment that was usually so cold because of it's draftiness. Then it slowly started getting colder and colder.

Ib was still staring out the window when she had begun to notice the freezing air. The window glass had started to glaze over quickly with and icy layer of frost. Ib stared at the window with bewilderment at first, her mind not quite processing what it was seeing.

Garry shivered slightly, not paying to mind to the misty vapor that was being exhaled from his mouth. He turned his head upward to clear his thoughts when he saw the icicles forming on the ceiling. He let out and audible gasp then turned his attention to Ib, who was slowly backing away from the window.

Ib was still in disbelief as she backed toward Garry. She reached an arm out towards Garry's direction, wanting to get to him at fast as possible.

Garry took her hand and pulled her towards him, wrapping his arms around her defensively, pressing her into himself.

"What's happening, Garry?" Ib uttered, her crimson eyes growing wider as the whole room was being enveloped by ice. The floor around their feet could not be seen anymore as it was now pure frost.

"I don't know Ib, but whatever it is, I don't like it." Garry shook his head, in disbelief of what he was seeing.

It was then that they heard a ticking sound. They both became attentive at that moment, quietly listening at the sound.

Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick.

It grew slowly grew louder and louder as if the noise were coming closer to them.

Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick.

Garry's body became as frozen as the ice around them, himself becoming more apprehensive as the ticking became clearer.

Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick.

Ib felt her heartbeat becoming in tune with the ticking sound, making her entranced with the sound. On instinct she reached into her pocket, grasping a pin the was shaped and painted like a red rose.

Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick.

It came closer to the door.

Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick.

Ib and Garry were frozen on the spot with fear. Both their hearts seemed to have stopped beating altogether.

The ticking had stopped the second it sounded as if it were right outside Garry's door.

A few seconds went by, there was no sound, no movement at all. Just the tension in the air with a mix of fear.

Ib exhaled a little, letting the vapor float in the air, her body starting to shake a little. With a breath, she dared trying to speak with Garry.

"Is it gone?" She whispered so quietly it was fell deaf upon her own ears.

Screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeech~

The deafening sound of metal nails being clawed against wooden door filled the room making both Ib and Garry wince painfully as the eardrums pounded in their skull.

"Why would I leave when I just got here, Ib?"

With that Ib and Garry knew what was happening. The one that plagued their very thoughts and nightmares was back.

Mary.
