Sara's hands stopped trying to pull herself out of the water, instead, they lost their grip and fell in. The bubbles ceased to exist and Ava couldn't see any part of Sara anymore.

"Helga stop!" A few more tears slipped past her guard.

"I'll stop when you tell me how much she means to you, 'Aves.'" Helga stood and walked over to Ava mockingly, her wrists now bleeding from struggling against her restraints.

"Sara's my ex, Helga. We didn't date for very long, but I-" Ava's eyes kept starring at the bathtub, waiting for the strong blond Captain to jump out and be fine. Nothing happened. "I love her, okay Helga? Is that what you wanted to hear!" She screamed. "Now get her out of the water!"

Helga didn't say anything, didn't react. She simply walked over to the door and gestured for the guards to pull Sara out. They put their guns down and did just that, pulling out the blond who wasn't breathing before dropping her onto the floor.

"Unlock my dear Ava and leave the room please boys," Helga was drying herself with a towel by the door. "Oh and Aves, when I come back next time, please answer my questions sooner."

Ava didn't listen to Helga, her attention focused completely on Sara whose chest she could see was clearly not rising. As soon as the guards unlocked her restraints, Ava knew every second counted. Logically, she should've attacked the guards and taken their guns, breaking out. But she couldn't leave Sara.

Sprinting to her side, Ava's hands found themselves immediately over Sara's heart and she pushed down, putting her weight into it. After many compressions and still no sign of life, she started crying, not caring if Helga saw with some secret camera.

"Come on Sara, don't die on me now. We still have to have our happy ever after, we still need to fix you, but honestly I don't think you need to be fixed. What I said to Helga earlier was true. Sara Lance I love you, and this is not how our story ends," her lips locked onto Sara's frozen blue ones, breathing air into her. More chest compressions, nothing.

"It's not fair!" Ava suddenly screamed, balling her fists and punching Sara's chest. "You don't get to do this to me!" Another punch and water shot out of Sara's mouth, the shorter blond not able to get it all out as she sat facing up. Acting quickly, Ava rolled Sara onto her side so she could easily cough up all the water.

After the water was out, Sara couldn't breath as her chest heaved in and out, aching with every move.

"Sara? Hey you're ok, just focus on breathing. Ready, try to match me," Ava breathed in deeply, then out. Sara's eyes scanned the room wildly before they met Ava's.

They sat like that until Sara could properly breath again, her head in Ava's lap, shivering.

"Sara you're freezing," Ava stated, taking off her jacket and draping it over the Captain. Sara still hadn't said a word as she cuddled up next to Ava, taking her body warmth to stay alive as the Director played with her soaked hair.

"Aves?" She whispered, her hand finding the taller blonds warm one.

"I'm right here, Sara."

"'s cold, Aves."

"I know, come here," Ava helped Sara sit up and lean back into her chest, wrapping her arms around her middle.

"You're really warm..." Sara mumbled, her head lolling back onto Ava.

"I'm not that warm, you're just freezing. At least the cold water helped keep the swelling on you head down to a minimal. With the beating you took I'm surprised you're still awake, which is good. You need to stay awake because we don't know if you have a concussion yet and you could sli-"

"-Slip into a coma if I had one, yea I know. It's happened before at the League after a very rough mission. And you've told me this many times until I would visit Gideon, remember?" Ava laughed.

"Yes I do. You did the same thing if I'm not mistaken, which I never am," Sara snorted.

"What about the time you thought a farmer was Galileo?"

"Shhh, remember you promised not to tell anyone about that!" Ava playfully swatted the woman laying in her arms that was laughing, which soon turned into coughing. "Breath Sara," she commanded, helping her sit up better.

"I'm-" she didn't stop coughing. "Fine."

"You're not fine. If I'd have just answered the question sooner-"

"We both know that after we give out all of our knowledge she'll just kill us. The best bet we have is to stay silent and not tell her anything, ok?" Sara tried to move closer to Ava, even though she knew she shouldn't.

The League had taught her how to stay warm on her own, but she was close to Ava for more her own comfort. Ava knew what she was capable of, yet she still let Sara take her body warmth.

"Helga could be back any second. Do we have a plan?" Sara asked after a few minutes of silence.

"No, you're not in good enough shape to fight and even if I could fight off Helga and the two guards, we don't know where we are or even when for that matter. All I know is that I-" Ava stopped herself for a minute, taking a deep breath as if to encourage herself. "I can't lose you, Sara."

The frozen blond in her arms suddenly sat up on her own, not without pain as she winced at her ribs which she was sure a few of which were cracked.

"Sara take it easy, I know you're a tough person but no need to push-" the rambling blond was soon cut off with lips on hers in a slow and tender kiss. She and Sara have kissed many times before, but this one was much more meaningful than others.

When the kiss broke off all too soon, Ava could taste a bit of blood in her mouth.

"Does that mean..." Ava trailed off, not wanting to assume anything.

"Only if you'll take me back after I was such an idiot?"

"I'll always take you back, Sara. I know we've not been dating for a long time, but I know one thing for sure," Sara raised her eyebrows. "It's that I love you." The shorter blond frowned.

"Aww, that sucks."

"Wait what? I just told you I loved you and it sucks?" Sara started laughing heartily.

"No, it's just that my last words before I drowned were going to be that I love you. Ava, you stole my thunder."

"Well I'm not sorry. Sara Lance, I love you so much that when you tried to leave me, my heart literally felt like it split in two. When you said that you were evil, I didn't believe it. When you said you were death, well you WERE, as in past tense. And when you said you didn't deserve me, well that was just complete bullshit. Because you do deserve happiness. We deserve happiness and that's together, not apart. So Sara Lance, will you be my girlfriend, again?"

Sara nodded eagerly before sealing the pact with a kiss full of passion as if it might be their last.

"I'm sorry I left you Ava, it was dumb of me and I shouldn't have. It's just that all of my past relationships have ended terribly and I guess I was scared of ruining us."

The two women sat side by side, Sara leaning against Ava's chest, hand over the taller womans heart, before lifting her head suddenly.

"I just realized that I can add this experience to my list of times I've died," she stated before leaving back into Ava, sapping her warmth.

"Talking about dying, I thought I lost you and would never get the chance to try and fix us. My heart almost stopped when you stopped breathing. Your heart stopped Sara, along with you breathing and I thought that I was gonna lose it. I did, actually," Ava gave a weak laugh at that. "I got so angry that I started pounding on your chest with my fist, hoping that I'd get to see your eyes again."

"Ava it's ok, I'm still here and I'm not gonna leave you if I can help it. So when Helga comes back in, don't tell her anything because when the bitch suddenly decides she's had enough, you know what happens." Ava's hand had absent mindedly started playing with Sara's as they sat there in silence.

Every few minutes Ava would have to wake Sara up when she fell asleep during their tedius and boring conversations. They had talked for the first few minutes about their plan and random stuff but after Ava had pointed out the many cameras in the room, neither wanted to say anything else in front of an audience.

"Ava, do you think my team is looking for us?"

"Yea, I do. Even if they are a bunch of knuckle heads."

"Hey, you're the knuckle head, knuckle head."

Ava was just about to respond but was interrupted when the metal door leading into the cell burst open, violently hitting the wall and in walked the previous two guards from earlier. Both men, by the looks of it, and both covered head to toe in black, armed to the teeth.

The men immediately walked over to the two woman and ripped Sara up from Ava's arms. They picked up the already weak and bruised Captain and one walked her to her previous chair, covered in some spots by blood, and tied her down again while the other one pointed his gun at Ava's head, daring her to move.

After his partner tied Sara up, the one with the gun backed up and allowed his partner to then come over and escort the already standing Ava to her own chair, the gun trained on her the entire time.

Sara sat up in the metal chair she'd been thrown into once again, and tried moving her wrists. It did little but peel up more of her already sore wrists. The concerned Captain faced the doorway, the tub of water still behind her sending shivers down her spine.

She hadn't told Ava, but when she was unconscious she had traumatic nightmares about her time in the ocean after the wreck and on Lian Yu. They were still present in her brain and it was taking her alot of willpower to not freak out and flip shit after that torture she'd just endured.

The Captain glanced up after she noticed the two guards take position at both corners. Looking to Ava she could read the obvious stress on her face. Along with worry.

"Well after watching that little show, I would say that Sara is more than an ex now, yes Ava?" The thick Russian accent sent even worse shivers down Sara as Helga slowly walked in. The Russian was cleaning her fingernails with a knife. "Aren't you forgetting what happens to your girlfriend when you don't answer, or do I have to remind you?"

Helga started walking behind the Captain, tracing her knife along her shoulders and up to her neck, drawing blood. Sara didn't make a sound, but Ava gripped her chair tightly as the chains wrattled around her.

"I already told you," the Director hissed out between clenched teeth, her eyes never leaving the knife as it danced around Sara's chest now.

"Yes, yes you did. You told me you loved Ms.Lance. So I have a new question for you Ava," Helga pulled the knife away from the shorter blond and quickly wiped the blood onto Sara's shorts before making her way to Ava. "You were always the better fighter out of us, yes Ava?" No reply except a glare. "Well I have an offer for you. It could get you out of this mess alive, but your girlfriend, not so much."

Ava shook her head violently.

"I'll never accept any offer that will get her killed Helga. You know that I wouldn't, so what game are you trying to play at?" Sara's eyes had started to droop close after her head began to feel light. Ava hadn't noticed as she was still glaring at Helga.

"Well Ava, I guess you'll have to take the harder road then," Helga sighed and walked back to Sara, eyes still closed, breathing lightly. When Ava saw the state in which Sara was, her eyes almost flew out of her head.

"Sara!" She screamed, the Captain jolting awake, her head snapping up. Sara knew why she was so tired suddenly, and turned her head slowly to meet Helgas eyes. She found the Russian standing there with a wicked grin.

"How are you feeling, Sara?" Helga asked her, grabbing her face with one hand to look closely into her eyes.

"Y-you-" Sara didn't get to finish though, as Helga quickly shushed her.

"Shhh, Sara. It's ok, do not face death with worry."

"What!" Ava screamed, pulling hard on her restraints. "What'd you do to her!" Ava yelled, causing Sara to jump a bit.

Helga turned to face the Director.

"Why, I did you a favor, Dear Ava. Once Sara is gone, it'll just be you and I. Together again. No more Sara. No more Legends," the redhead smiled, letting go of Sara's face which fell to her chest, the Captains breathing becoming irregular.

"You poisoned her?" Ava's voice was barely a whisper, filled with disbelief. "Helga, please don't do this. Let me out of these!" She screamed, pulling harder than ever on her restraints. "Sara, open your eyes! Look at me! Please, baby. You're strong than this!"

Ava was relieved a little to see Sara lift her head to look at her. What the Director saw made her gasp. Sara's eyes were no longer the beautiful blue that she had fallen in love with so long ago, but were now a weirdly glowing yellow. Ava knew this poison. Of course she did.

After all, it was used by the League of Assassins.

"Pit Viper Venom?"

"Good job, Ava! I knew you remembered your poisons. After all, we did do a project on them together at the Bureau. Since you know what poison this is, then you also know that there's only a rare cure in the world. And also, that no one's ever survived this it," Helga frowned at the tears that were littering Ava's cheeks, though they didn't surprise her.

"Please, Helga, just let me say goodbye?" A deep gut feeling told the Russian to say no, but seeing Ava so sad softened her up.

"Very well, Ava. I'll let you say goodbye with her, but after she's dead, I have plans for us. So please, get all your grieving and crying done now." Ava simply nodded her head as Helga made her way over and undid the chains on her arms and legs. As Ava stood, her knees gave out and she fell into Helga, the redhead catching her easily.

"Sorry," Ava apologized, shuddering internally at the contact she made with a woman she hates. It was all part of the plan, Ava thought, as she discreetly put the newly acquired Time Courier into her pocket, making her way over to Sara.

"Don't apologize, Ava Dear. It's ok to fall apart, I'm here for you." Ava almost scoffed, but she held it back by biting her tongue.

"Can you please unchain her? She's no threat, she can hardly stay conscious."

Helga looked hesitant, then nodded to a guard who walked over and undid Sara's restraints.

"You two can leave, I'll be fine in here with my Ava and the poisoned one." The guards nodded before disappearing from the room. Helga sighed and walked to the chair Ava had occupied, taking a seat to watch them. "I wish there was some other choice, Aves, I really do. But I've been watching you and Sara for the past couple months and came to the realization that the only way you'll ever be able to move on from her is if she's dead. I was going to simply kill her slowly, but the love you two hold...I do respect that. Soon enough, you and I will share that again," Helga continued talking about their future, which Ava would never share with her, as the Director pulled Sara into her lap and ignored the ranting Russian behind her.

"Sara, hey, open your eyes honey," she whispered, gently stroking the swollen and bruised face of the woman she loved. "Sara? Come on, please I have something I need to tell you."

Yellow eyes opened slowly and weakly, searching around the room before settling on the face above her. Ava smiled at seeing Sara conscious once again.

"Sh-she poisoned me Aves..." Sara stated, her eyes closing and opening slowly and repeatedly. Ava grabbed her hand and brought it to her lips, kissing it gently.

"I know, honey. I know. Can you stand?" She whispered the last part quietly. Sara nodded. "Ok, on the count of three stand up. One, two," She grabbed Sara's hands and began to pull the shorter blond up. "Three." It almost ended badly, as half way up, Sara grunted in pain and went limp. Thankfully Ava had a good grip and pulled her girlfriend to her chest.

"What are you doing, hmm?" Helga asked, standing abruptly and eyeing the two carefully.

"I just wanted to say goodbye for good," said Ava, carefully using Sara's body to block Helgas view from her hands which were currently typing in the only coordinates she was familiar with.

Just as Helga was about to walk over to the two blonds, Ava pushed the button to open a portal, quickly walking through it and turning to Helga, finger on the closing button.

The redhead snapped her eyes to her wrist, which was bare, before slowly looking back to Ava, smiling.

"Well played, Ava. Well played. This won't be the last time you'll deal with me, I can assure you of that. My team has the Waverider, and I will kill Sara Lance. And I will have you. Good luck finding the antidote." Helga turned her back and walked to the door, yelling orders, as Ava quickly closed the portal and dropped the watch.

"Sara, baby, we're free. We're at the Time Bureau in my office, so just hold on, ok?" When Ava got no response, she made a quick decision and scooped Sara up bridal style, immediately making her way towards the medical lab.

Opening the glass door with her back, the Director started to run, keeping her grip on Sara tight. She could see the rise of the Captains chest, but just barely. She heard the rugged intake of breath and quickened her pace. She received weird and worried looks from Agents and friends as she rounded a corner to the medical lab. Opening the door, she shouted for help and a few nurses came to her aid.

Ava refused to let go of Sara, not even to her friend Mack who was twice her size, and instead was lead to a room where she carefully layed Sara down and was pushed back by the nurses and now Doctors in the room.

"What happened!" The head Doctor asked, frantically taking vitals just as Sara started to seize on the bed.

"Captain Lance and I were taken hostage. She has been beaten, drowned and poisoned with Pit Viper Venom, only a rare cure in the world. Can you help her!" Ava screamed.

"Director Sharpe," a nurse approached her and started to gently lead the intimidating blond out of the room. "The Doctors need room and quiet to help Captain Lance. You need to go to room 107 down the hall and gather the other Legends, they have some important information for you." Ava looked back to Sara, seeing her still seizing, before shaking her head.

"Not until I know she's ok. I have to, I hav-" her voice cracked. "Do we have the antidote for Pit Viper Venom here at the Bureau?" The nurse shook her head.

"I'm not sure, but if not we'll send out some agents for it. Please, let me at least look at you, Director. Your wrists need attended to." Ava shook her head.

"Not right now...I just need to be left alone right now. Can you go and check if we have the antidote please?" The nurse sighed, and reluctantly left the Director alone to stare through the door.

Not even a minute after the nurse left, the heart monitor flat lined as the Doctors ripped open Sara beach shirt and started chest compressions. When those failed, someone retrieved the defibrillators and all Ava could hear was a solemn "Clear!" shouted as Sara's chest jumped up.

Ava's eyes returned to the heart monitor. Nothing. They shocked Sara three times before a soft beeping could be heard from the monitor again.

Ava let out a breath she didn't know she had been holding as hot tearing fell over her eyes and down her cheeks. The tall blond weakly stumbled backwards and barely landed in a chair before the Legends rounded the corner, Amaya in the front.

"Sara, is she..." Nate trailed off, not wanting to finish the question. Ava shook her head.

"She flat lined. They couldn't bring her back for three minutes. But she's back for now. When we were held she was tortured. First, beaten. Then, drowned. Up until 10 minutes ago we were being held hostage. The person torturing us...I knew her. She used to work here at the Bureau. She was my ex. She also poisoned Sara, and I don't know where or even if we have the antidote," Ava started crying harder, bringing her hands to her face to wipe the tears away.

"Oh Ava," Amaya stepped forward and suddenly the Director was enveloped in a set of arms. "She'll be ok, she's a fighter. Give us the name of the poison and we'll make sure we can get the antidote." Ava nodded.

"I don't think there is one...its Pit Viper Venom." Some of the Legends let out gasps at this, all but Wally.

"What is Pit Viper Venom?" He asked cluelessly. Nate turned to him with tears in his eyes.

"It's the rarest poison in the world, with an even rarer antidote."

"Well shit."
