Third POV
Yep, I said it. Riker is madly, madly in love with Vanessa. Want me to tell you how this happened? Well, just sit and read.
TWO WEEKS AGO
Riker POV
I woke up to the sound of noises downstairs. I got out of my blue cocoon and put my glasses on. I saw that Rocky was not in his bed and went downstairs.
"Hello? Anybody home?" I slowly walked down and into the kitchen. I saw Rocky, Rydel, and Ryland making pancakes.
"Hey Riker." Ryland said, poring pancake mix in the pan. I looked around and saw that neither Ross or mom and dad where home.
"Where's the rest of the family? And why are you making pancakes at 11:30 in the morning?"
Rydel answered, "They had to go to a meeting with the A&A crew. They should be back around 4. And because they are the greatest food on the planet to eat in the afternoon." I nodded my head and walked over to the living room to see what was on TV.
Nothing. How is that possible? I went to our recorded section and saw that Switched At Birth was on. I gladly turned it on and watched.
In the middle of the episode, I noticed how beautiful Vanessa looked on camera. I sat on the edge of my seat and studied her face. I never really noticed her features and how defined they were, even if I was friends with her for a couple of years.
It slowly started to be processed. Then, DING. I think I'm in love with her. Should I ask her out? Is it too soon? Wait, she has a freaking boyfriend. And her boyfriend happened to be my best friend and band mate. I ran my hand through my hair and looked at the floor. Of course, of freaking course. It always happens, every time.
I looked over at my phone and saw that I had a text from Kalani. I unlocked it and read.
'Hey Rike! I just got off of work. Wanna get lunch?' I smiled, Vanessa getting off of my mind quickly. I answered.
'Sure thing Kal. I'll go to your work. Be there in 5.' I got up out of my seat and walked toward the car.
"Goodbye family, see you later!" I said over my shoulder. I started the car and drove as fast as I was able to and not pass the speed limit.
I got there when Kalani's shift was just ending. I caught her outside, still in her ice cream uniform.
"Hey. Do you think I would get free ice cream if I took you on a date?" I said, leaning out my rolled down window. She looked at me and smiled.
"Only if you take me somewhere it's not cold inside." She gestured to the ice cream parlor. I smiled and unlocked the door. She walked to the other side and got in.
"How was work?" I said driving to her favorite place to get lunch.
"Cold. And of course one person had to come in, try all the flavors, and not buy anything. I should charge them for that." She took off her apron and hat, her long black fair falling to her back. Under her apron was a black crop top and gray hip hop sweatpants. And of course, her famous beat up, black Converse.
I nodded down to her shoes. "You still have those?"
"Of course. Why would I get rid of something my five best friends gave me?" She lifted her shoes and revealed the signatures of the Lynch's. I smiled at that and paid attention to the road.
After a while, Kalani's voice broke the silence.
"I never took my driving test, so every day you take me take me to eat yeah. See? I put my own spin on that." I laughed at her "joke".
"You haven't changed, have you?" She shook her head.
"Not that I know of. Where are we going?"
" Can't tell. It'll take a while though." She nodded her head.
"Wake me up when we get there." She moved her head so it was resting on the window. Her eyelids covered her eyes and her breathing began to calm down. I focused back on the road, trying to get Vanessa out of my mind.
Kalani, a beautiful girl, is sitting right next to you! Don't worry about Vanessa right now. Think about Kalani. Kalani.
So sorry about not updating. Just a lot of things happening, but I am in Spring Break, so I can upload as much as I can.
