Chapter 4:

A look of content and happiness came over Aqua's face as she slept all night long. She even slept a little bit into the morning. Green came in the room, early, but when he saw how peaceful the girl was, he decided to let her be for a bit more. He covered the windows with the curtains so Aqua would not be disturbed. Then, he left the room closing the door slowly and quietly.

Even though the curtains were covering the windows, some sunlight managed to sneak in. It crept through the small opening and poured light onto Aqua's face, specifically her eyes. The sunlight was obnoxious to Aqua for staying in the same spot for the longest time. She opened her eyes, squinting from the light. She rolled over to the other side, where the light was hitting her back. She then wondered if it was the morning. When she sat up on the bed and looked around the room to find some indicator of time. She saw something with numbers on it that read 12:00PM.

What the heck does that mean? A clock and time were foreign to a girl who never saw one before. She just stared at it as it changed to read 12:01PM.

KNOCK! KNOCK!

Two knocked came from the door. Aqua immediately turned her head in the direction of the sound.

"Hello? Are you awake now?" a voice called from the other side. Aqua responded with a small yes, unsure if she should have done that. "Okay, then I'm coming in." A man, tall but old looking with white hair and a lab coat, entered the room. "Hello little one I'm Professor Oak," he said, "And who might you be?"

"A-Aqua."

"Well Aqua, it's great to meet you. I heard you sprained your ankle last night. Why don't we take a look at it later okay?" His kindness was unknown to Aqua and made her feel uncomfortable. Never in her life has someone been this kind to her. There was Blue and Silver of course, but even their kindness had a bit of an edge to it.

"Uh… sure I guess. Excuse me, what is that?" She pointed to the clock.

Professor Oak chuckled to himself. "It's a clock and it reads 12:02, meaning two minutes after noon."

A small 'o' formed on Aqua's face. She was amazed with all the things she didn't know before.

Then, Professor Oak left the room and another person came in. It was a young woman. Very pretty too; long brown hair that was parted a little off to the left, bright green eyes, she was tall but slim as well. Her clothes gave off the appearance of someone in their twenties. "Hi I'm Daisy Oak. You're Aqua, right?" Aqua nodded a little of worry in her eyes. "Oh. Don't worry my grandfather told me." Daisy reassured Aqua.

"Y-yes." Daisy Oak was good at sensing people's feelings and she could tell that Aqua was tensing up, so she told Aqua to relax and that she is safe with them. She told Aqua that they were going to make her feel like part of the family.

What does that even mean? Aqua thought to herself.

"Why don't we go and get you some actual clothes okay? Later we can go out to the store." She smiled a sweet smile then left the room. Again, another person entered. It was Green this time. Aqua has not seen Green since last night and was happy to see a familiar face, even if she was reluctant to stay in the house.

"Hey Aqua. How's the ankle?" he asked.

"Okay, I guess." To be honest, Aqua did not really know. After all, she did not walk on it at all and she felt weird talking to Green. He may have been a stranger to her, but he was the only one she kind of knew. She felt safer around Green than any of the others; he was someone she could trust more just because of how he saved her from getting seriously injured. The two talked for a while trying to get to know each other a bit. Then, Aqua's stomach growled.

"Can we get something to eat?" Aqua shyly laughed.

Green laughed too and nodded yes. He offered to get the food since Aqua could not walk and should be elevating her leg. He left the room leaving the door slightly cracked. The brunette boy came back a few minute later with two bowls of soup, both were ramen. He gently placed the tray down on the end of the bed. He picked up Aqua's and handed it to her, and then he began eating his.

Aqua stared at the bowl of hot soup. She did not know how to use chopsticks and never in her life has she eaten or seen ramen before. At first she hesitated, but after seeing Green eating it, she mimicked his way of using the chopsticks and tried eating the ramen. After the first bite a look of satisfaction came over the girl's face. The two children sat and eat their ramen together in peace.

"What's today?"

Green peers over at the calendar hanging on the wall. "October 5th, why?"

October, Aqua thought. She did not remember anything when she left the Mask of Ice, only that Blue and Silver escaped with her. The day and year were all foggy to her. "I was just curious." Aqua tried to ignore the fact that she was bothered by not knowing anything about the day she left the Mask of Ice. She wanted to know her age and everything.

"You don't know what time or day it is? Do you even know the year?" Green was taken back.

"No. For crying out loud I am wearing leaves. I don't know the year, my age, or even my birth date. I'm lucky to even remember my name." Aqua was a bit harsh with what she said, but she was trying to prove a point. She was about to start crying at what she said because it was all true with a sarcastic tone.

Green shifted closer to Aqua. "It's alright." He rubbed her back. "Well then, you know the day, the time, the month, your name, and now you know the year, P391."

"Thank you for telling me that."

Green looked back up at the clock on the wall. "I have to go. My grandpa will be here soon to check up on your ankle." Green got up and stretched before leaving the room.

It became quiet in the room quickly. Aqua tried to look out the window, but she could not see much; just grass, the blue sky, clouds, and the sun. It was a beautiful, perfect day. After what seemed like hours -it was really only a few minutes- of waiting, Aqua laid back down on the bed. She stared up at the ceiling once again. She sighed.

Professor Oak came in a few minutes later after knocking, of course. Aqua jolted straight up happy to see anyone. The old man pulled up a chair and sat down at the end of the bed. He looked at Aqua and then at the ankle. First, he lifted the ankle and tired to move it. The brunette winced. She held in a scream. He stopped and continued examining it. It took while but he finally told to her that she sprained her ankle.

Sprain? What's a sprain? What's the difference between breaking it and spraining it, but if this is what spraining feel like is breaking worse? If it hurt that bad from spraining it, breaking it would make it worse for Aqua. She tilted her head to the side.

"You're going to have to wear a brace and walk with crutches for a while." He continued to speak a foreign language to her. Professor Oak caught the look she was giving him and chuckled a bit. "A sprain is when you just tear something, but it will heal. If it breaks, it won't heal back as easily as if it's sprained."

"Do you know how long?"

"About a month or so, so roughly thirty days."

A month sounded fine to Aqua. She did not have anything else to do. She would have just gone back to the forest to help the Pokemon and probably worsen the ankle. When Aqua thought about it, being where she was, was better than being in the forest because she knew she would have broken her ankle there.

"You're going to have to stay here. Is that alright?"

"I guess that will be fine. It's not really like I had anything to do anyway."

Aqua walked to get up, but of course, Professor Oak would not let her. He told her that she would have to use crutches if she wanted to walk or use a wheelchair. Professor Oak left the room to get the crutches to show Aqua.

Next, Daisy came back in. It was time to go shopping and get some clothes.
