Chapter Four:

Say Something

Friday came and Carsyn was in the hallway at school and overheard Jake bragging to his friends about his steamy make out session with Ana. Carsyn immediately found his sister and spun her around. "You made out with Jake after 5 minutes of it being official?" he asked furiously. Ana shut her locker loudly. "Why do you care? I like him, so what?" she asked defensively. "I care because he's over there bragging about it to his friends. I know you two are dating, but I don't want stuff to spread around." Ana rolled her eyes. Jake walked over and wrapped his arm around her. "Come on, Jake. Let's go." She said kissing him.

Alice and Carsyn met up after school. "So, what do you want to do on this five day?" he asked. Alice played with her snake bites. "Well," she started, "want to terrorize people at the park, see a crappy horror movie, then get food?" she asked. Carsyn laughed. "I like it."

Meanwhile, Ana and Jake sat at The Dot after school. Ana was quiet the majority of the time. "Hey," Jake said, "is something wrong?" he asked. Ana rolled her eyes. "My brother's being a pain." She said as she sipped at her milkshake. He leaned forward. "Explain." Ana slumped in her seat. "It's just... he's being annoying because we're dating. He said he heard you bragging to your friends about us making out." Jake laughed. "Oh, that's all?" he asked. Ana smiled and shrugged. "Listen," he started, "you know I like you. I mean, a lot. Like more than any girl I've been with. Your brother's being protective, that's all." Ana smiled. "That's true." She said as she twirled her straw. Jake stood up. "Come on," he said, "let's go back to my place."

Carsyn and Alice had finished their dinner and went on about how terrible the movie was. "I mean The Happening? Nothing even happened!" Carsyn said. Alice covered her mouth and laughed at his joke. "You have such a beautiful smile," Carsyn said, "you don't need to hide it." Alice crossed her eyes and gave him a cheesy smile. The two laughed and enjoyed their dinner.

After the meal, the two got ice cream and went to their hang out spot. "Tonight was absolutely perfect." Alice as she leaned on Carsyn. "It was great. I love hanging out with you." He said. Alice shivered. "Are you cold?" He asked. Alice nodded. Carsyn took off his hoodie and gave it to Alice. Alice put on the oversized hoodie and snuggled up in it. Carsyn thought she looked absolutely adorable. He leaned in and kissed her on the cheek. "Sorry," he said blushing. Alice smiled at him. "You missed." Carsyn looked at her confused. Alice grabbed the collar of his shirt and kissed him on the lips. He felt this warm sensation spread all over his body. It finally happened. He wasn't a character in a cliché sitcom or in the "friend zone" so to speak. He finally got the girl.

The next day the new couple went to David's house to see if they could get any in tell. Alice knocked on the door and David's mom opened the door. "Alice! Great to see you sweetie!" She said hugging her. "Great to see you Auntie Donna." Her aunt looked over her shoulder. "And who is this handsome young man?" she asked. "Oh! This is my boyfriend, Carsyn." Carsyn shook her hand. "Great to meet the legendary Aunt Donna." Her aunt smiled and hugged him. "What brings you two here?" she asked. "We're actually here to see David. Maybe get him out of the house or something." Alice's aunt slowly nodded. She already knew what it was about. "David! You have company!" She shouted. "Just go up to his room." She whispered. "Thanks auntie." Alice said.

Alice knocked on David's room. He slowly opened the door. He looked like he'd been crying for days. Maybe even weeks. "Oh, hey." He said hugging Alice. They entered the room and Alice closed the door behind her. "We need to ask you some questions." She said. David groaned and sat down on the bed. As Alice talked to David, Carsyn saw a lot of framed photographs of him and Manny. Carsyn picked up a framed picture and handed it to David. David began to cry and threw the picture against the wall. "He was my boyfriend, okay!? He hung himself because of his parents! Happy now!?" He shrieked. Alice tried to comfort her cousin, but he jerked away from her. "Just leave." He said quietly.
