The Super Wonder Experience: Continuing Adventure
Cassy smiled broadly as she and her mother watched the police arrest almost all of Boomer's gang. Unable to contain herself any longer she burst out the door and jumped into Connor's awaiting arms. Spinning her around she hugged Connor around the neck and laughed as he spun her. Helena stepped out on the porch and saw most of her neighbors outside watching as the main threat to their safety being placed in the back of a police car. Boomer had terrorized the neighborhood for months and now he was being taken away along with almost all his muscled cronies. Mrs. Mary Jenkins walked over towards Helena's house.
"Who is this young man?" Mary asked Helena, as the older woman pointed to Connor as he held Cassy, kissing her as they celebrated.
"He is going to be my son in law." Helena said proudly. "My daughter Cassy is marrying him next month." Helena could not help but smile as she watched the young couple as they went back into the house, while she talked to Mary.
Lisa stood at the window shaking, Boomer would tell the cops all about her calling him and coming over. This was bad, she thought as she stared out the window. At worst, the neighborhood will learn about what she had done, at best she might be arrested. This caused her to worry. Frowning she closed the curtains and went to her room. She still could not understand, she had seen Boomer fight and not too many could handle him. How could everything go wrong? All she wanted was to humiliate Cassy and perhaps show Connor he could do so much better than Cassy. Now it was Lisa that was going to be humiliated.
Going back into the house, Connor pulled out his Cell Phone, sat on the couch edge and started to type a text message. He hated this part, sending a report to Batman about what they had done since yesterday. Starting with stopping the Bank Robbery and now the Gang. As he typed away, making sure to document everything. Cassy had gone into the kitchen. She returned with his favorite drink again. Then sat behind him and looked over his shoulder to make sure he had all the details. Putting her chin on his shoulder she put her arms around his waist. Once or twice she kissed his cheek.
"I can't do this if you keep distracting me." Connor complained as he continued to type out the report.
Tightening her hold, she smiled. "How am I distracting you?" As she stuck her tongue in his ear. At the same time, sliding her right hand down to grasp his crotch.
"Behave yourself." Connor stated as he finished the report, then reread it. Every detail seemed right so he sent it to Batman. Putting his phone down, he turned his head towards Cassy and kissed her. She immediately leaned back onto the couch pulling him on top of her. Wrapping her arms around him. Feeling him put his hand up her blouse and touch her bra covered breast. Just as she was starting to enjoy the kissing and the groping she heard the door open.
"Jeez, I understand you two are in love. But a little restraint would be appreciated." Helena said as she rolled her eyes at seeing Connor on top of her daughter on the couch.
"We are sorry mom." Cassy said as Connor removed his hand from her shirt so he could get up and sit back on the couch. Then she sat back up by him, adjusting her shirt. "We get so into it, that sometimes we cannot help ourselves."
"Well just try to not get to into it where I might see you. It is disturbing enough to know what you two do at your apartment." Helena rolled her eyes and sat down on a chair.
"I have to say though, what you two have done is wonderful. Everyone around here is so happy. Without Boomer's gang, people are coming out of their homes and not worrying about being robbed or assaulted." Helena said with appreciation.
"If it was that bad, mom. Why didn't you tell me? I would have come home and done something." Cassy stated as she looked at her mother.
"Exactly. You might be super powerful but you are still my little girl. I was worried that you might get hurt." Helena replied knowing it was ridiculous that a normal person even one like Boomer could hurt a half human half god. But she still worried. "How can each of you not worry about the other? I mean there has to be one's that are more powerful than yourself, are you not worried that someday one of those could hurt or kill you."
"Yes, but we choice to be the ones that stop them from turning their powers onto those that would not stand any chance against them." Connor reported as he already had faced several foes that were stronger than himself. "As to worrying about each other, it is something that we face together. It is no different if we were both police officers. One day, one of us or even both of us could be hurt or killed. But I have seen police officers that live with that threat every day and still have the courage to do what is necessary and right."
Helena had never considered that. She had seen on the news some local police officers that were injured and several weeks later they were right back on patrol. Never wavering, just serving and protecting those that could not protect themselves. "I understand, finally. I am proud that you became a hero, Cassy. I know I made it hard for you and Diana to convince me, but now I am glad that you were able to."
"Thanks Mom, you don't know how much I have been wanting to hear that." Cassy said as she stood and went to hug her mother.
"Now, let's talk about the wedding. I still want to meet your family Connor." Helena said wiping a tear out of her eye as she saw Connor smiling broadly. "Right now, we better discuss dinner."
"How about we go out?" Connor suggested, standing. "Cassy has told me about the Ridgemont Dinner and their world-famous burgers."
"All right, that sounds good. But I buy." Helena stood and want to get her jacket. When they left the house, she took Connor's other hand. While Cassy walked besides Connor smiling happily up at him.
While they walked to Ridgemont Ave, Cassy saw it. The locals that lived in the neighborhood were outside, talking across fences, cooking barbeques and all while children played. When they first came into the area, it seemed that everyone remained indoors. Now there was a sense of peace though out the area. It probably would not last, unless she could convince Connor that perhaps they should move here instead, after all Batman was doing what he could in the city, but in the residential areas where a lot of the gangs were moving to get away from the Dark Knight was being neglected. She promised herself to ask Batman about it when they returned to the Watch Tower.
At the Diner, Connor held out the chair first for Cassy then for Helena. Sitting he looked around and saw that most of the patrons were eating happily.
"So, what time are you two leaving tomorrow?" Helena asked as she picked up a menu.
"I actually I have been thinking about that. Connor can we talk a minute outside." Cassy stood and took his hand leading him outside. Once the door shut they went and sat on one of the bus stop benches. "Connor, I am sorry."
"Oh no, you have decided not to marry me." Connor said in near panic, realizing that Cassy has thought it out and now has decided that they cannot get married. A thousand thoughts flew through his head and heart.
"By the gods no. Not that. Of course, I want to marry you. You are not getting away from me that easily. No, I am sorry but we can't move to Metropolis. I know that it is last minute and that Lois and Clark are expecting us to. But I think we are needed here more." Cassy said as she took Connor's hand seeing him relax visibly.
"You want to move here instead. I hope not in your mother's house, it would kind of restrict our sex life a lot." Connor stated as he thought of him and Cassy attempting to have sex with a very protective mother right in the next room. Married life would be impossible under that situation.
"Yes, I want us to move here instead, but we will find a place that we can attempt to have some type of life together." Cassy replied not really wanting to tell Lois that they were not going to live in Metropolis.
"That is fine, and I understand. This city even though it has Batman, The Robins and Batgirl. It needs someone like us. As long as we are together I really do not care where we live." Connor said then quickly kissed her. "So, should we tell your mother."
Returning to the table inside, Cassy relayed to her mother that they had decided to live here in Gotham instead of Metropolis. Helena was overjoyed and agreed that both should not live in her house, believing she could not handle knowing or even hearing them making love. It would be better if she remained in the dark. She knew they were and that made it difficult for her, she did not want to hear them in the next room. As they talked, Helena heard sirens from a Fire Truck nearby and shook her head. "Shouldn't you two see what that is about?" Helena asked seeing the two stand up. "Don't worry I will order and take the food back to the house. Try not to be too long." Smiling proudly, she watched as Connor and Cassy walked casually out the door and turn towards a nearby alley. As the waitress approached Helena smiled up at the young woman. "I will need three Cheeseburgers, three orders of fries, all to go." Then glanced out the window to see Wondergirl carrying Superboy up and away, streaking towards the sirens.
The End-Continued on the wedding day.
