PRINCE ~ Chapter 4 - The Battle in the Castle of Ice - PART I ~ The first battle
*DOOR CLOSES*
When taking her first steps within the frozen castle, the purple doll shivered but not because it was cold. 'The atmosphere around this place...seems so strange..'
As she walked forward, hearing the silent sounds of her boots making contact with the glassy ice floor, she observed the layout of the castle. The walls were made entirely out of solid crystal ice with a number of tall ice pillars lining the large, spacious frozen hallway. On the pillars were crystaline torches with what seems like bright blue fire buring within it. 'that cannot be real fire...' she thought to herself as she walked silently along the hallway, trusting her gut and hoping it would lead to where the owner is.
'This person seems to like the cold somehow, hmmph...' She stopped her moments of contemplation and remembered the objective at hand: look for the person and persuade him to come with her and save her father. If necessary fight him to prove her point. She armed herself with a crystaline dagger just in case of any sudden attacks. After her experience in the forest clearing, she wasn't going to risk being unarmed.
'Father, I hope you're alright.' she worried for her father's condition. He was currently lying frozen and ill in that chamber where the woman who fixed and awakened her, was awaiting her return. She remembered her words before she left, "Your father will need help quickly. If he does not recieve treatment soon, he will-" Barasuishou shut her eye and shook the her head frantically, not wanting to remember the consequence if it is too late.
"That's it. I have to hurry. My Father...father..." She quickened her steps and hurried through the icy hallway.
After what seems like going for miles and miles, she still ran, and soon, she felt a little exhasted. She leaned on a pillar and stopped for a moment to catch her breath. "Why is this hallway so long?!..*pant*.." She exclaimed in an annoyed voice. She looked on and there still seemed to be miles more to go. 'This hall seems to go on forever!..wait...forever...' A possibility struck her mind.
"The person you seek is quite strong and he may not come easily..."
'Of course! This castle is created by this person I'm looking for! this is 'his' N-field... so that means he can control everything that happens within it! This hall...it's an illusion!' Barasuishou thought angrily and punched the ice pillar she was leaning on. 'He's extending it so I can never reach him...unless there's some sort of secret entrance...Of course!". She remembered the technique which allowed her to see any hidden doorways and to look through false illusions. This ability helped in fooling Souseiseki when she looked for her father.
She closed her eye and went into deep concentration. She felt everything - her surroundings, the cold air...a smug face?...what?...wait..there! right near the next pillar. He has these entrances hidden from the naked eye!
She opened her eyes and walked towards the pillar. begind the pillar was a clear wall that had the same texture as a mirror. The wall suddenly rippled at her touch and her hand passed through it. "I knew it." She stepped her whole body through the mirror and crossed the other side, not knowing of what was secretly occuring at the highest room of the ice castle...
"She is so perceptive. What a smart girl." the fair haired boy said to himself as he sat on his frozen ice throne looking into his ice mirror, watching on at the events that took place within his castle. For someone other than his rivals, she was the first to discover the hidden doors of his castle in the quickest time. "She doesn't disappoint. She will be a worthy opponent." he smiled to himself, excited that soon he will be fighting someone that is perfect for him.
"I hate waiting, but still... I don't want to be fighting an opponent that's not warmed up for me to take down *chuckles*". He took out the same vial with some liquid still left in it and poured the remaining onto the icy floor. He shaped it and unleashed his creations towards the hallway.
"If she is as strong as I saw her in the clearing, then I'll have to see again to make sure she's worth the wait."
*WOOSH!*
"itai!" Barasuishou exclaimed as she fell bottom first on icy ground.
'Well, that wasn't the most graceful action I have done. Father would be so displeased of me...' she thought as she rubbed her bottom and unruffled her hair.
She suddenly looked up and saw something that caused her to step back, her back against a now icy wall.
In front of her, and groling ferociously with clawed paws, sharp teeth bared out and silver eyes filled with anger, were two giant white polar bears that were twice the height of that ice wolf she fought in the clearing.
Somewhere in the turret of the castle and still watching everything, the fair-haired boy relaxed in his chair and exclaimed with a smile, "Let the battle begin!" *And I get the front seat! hahaha...*
*SLASH!*
"DAMN!"
Barasuishou shouted as she closely missed an attack from the first ice bear. But a few of her hair strands were cut from his sharp claws.
It only took a close second of rest until the second bear attacked her with both his claws bared.
"Dammit, dammit, DAMMIT!" She exclaimed as she jumped off into the farthest wall and shaped her crystals into two crystaline purple swords. She held them both and looked on at the attacking bears.
"I won't let you get in my WAY!". She shouted as she ran at full speed at the attacking bears. 'I'll go for the first one' she thought tactically. If I destroy him, then his brother will feel threatened.
She jumped up at the first bear with her crystaline swords held high in the air. "Here goes...". The first bear growled and tried to attack at the purple figure heading for him at full speed. But it was too late.
With her merciless aura and fighting spirit, returning to her, she easily cut the bears arms off which landed on the icy floor with a crash.
Her second ribbon from her skirt ripped off and fell to the ground. "And there goes the other one...damn."
The first bear landed straight on the icy floor with a crash and in turn, he growled in pain. He glared over at Barasuishou and for some reason kept growling at the second bear.
The second bear was glaring angrily at Barasuishou and kept close attention to her swords as he strangely went over to he pained brother.
"What...?" she wondered as the second bear nuzzled close at his dying brother.
When the first bear's eyes started to flicker, the second bear looked at Barasuishou and with a fierce glare and attacked with full force at the purple doll.
She was too caught up with the scene that she didn't have time to dodge. She landed face down on the icy ground with a thud. She slowly looked up and saw the second bear lunging quickly towards her. She dodged rolling over and missing his attack.
'Now he feels threatened. This will be easy.' She thought as she then lunged at the second bear with her golden eye giving a merciless glare at her doomed oponent.
*SMASH*
The second bear's head landed near his dying brother's body. She walked over to the both of their bodies and held her palm out at them. Purple crystals flew from her palm and struck wildly at the bodies of the dying bears. As the light in their eyes soon died, their bodies could no longer withstand the pressure of her crystals. With a bright light, their bodies smashed.
She landed gracefully onto the icy floor and looked at the shattered pieces of ice.
"Weaknesess destroy one's fighting spirit." She said silently. The bears reminded her of Suiseiseki and Souseiseki during their last battle before she disappeared. The second bear should have forgotten about his brother and attacked her full on without sparing his dying brother a glance. That is the way of battle.
"Now that's over." she walked over to the farthest wall and touched a particular area which revealed another hidden entrance. "I couldn't access it before because of those bears. When I finish something in this place, it opens an entrance".
Before she went through the mirror, she glanced at pieces of shattered ice and something in her heart broke. She shook her head and went through the mirror without another glance.
A moment of stunned silence followed when the battle ended. The boy was on the edge of his throne as he gazed longingly at the purple doll.
"So impressive. she is everything I have hoped for." He said with a self-satisfied smile. Those bears were no match for her. He did make them with a stronger incantation than the ice wolf back in the clearing. Though she did struggle at some points, she killed them with a more ruthless aura. She is definitely worth the wait. An oponent that is worthy for him alone.
He stood from his throne and extended his hand which glowed bright blue. He then shaped, with his hand, his own sword.
'Now, no more games.' He thought as he confidently walked over to a hidden entrance leading to another room.
It will be the room she will soon reach.
There. The two will finally meet...and fight.
The purple doll walked up the frozen ice stairs assending upwards. As she walked up slowly, she felt something around the air change. 'My senses are telling me that something...is waiting for me..." Is it father? that woman? or...that person?'
She tightened her grip on her crystaline swords and thought of her father's smile. She finally arrived at the huge frozen doors. She pulled the knobs. Locked.
She held her crystaline swords up in the air and sliced the door to pieces.
A voice called out from within the room.
"My, my. That is not the way to knock on a door, girl."
