Full moons were truly a beautiful sight. They bathed the land in an unearthly glow. Seras had always loved staying up on the night of the full moon, even when she was human. Tonight, however, something inside her felt restless, as if her very being was awakened by the moon herself. She shifted uncomfortably in her seat, and tried her best to keep her attention focused on Sir Integra's briefing. Integra, for her part, seemed oblivious to the discomfort of the smaller woman.

The cleanup of London, and the major cities of the world, was a long and arduous task. It had been two grueling weeks since the end of the war on London. So many lives had been lost in the battles, and the search for survivors seemed so hopeless. Seras knew in her heart that it was a pointless task. There could be no survivors of the horrible massacre. Those that may have lived through the Major's initial attack, were surely swallowed up by her master's bloodthirsty army. Still protocol must be followed. Tonight was the final search, before the rubble would be cleared away.

"Seras I need you to cover from the Zoo to Alexandra Palace tonight. As you know it is the final sweep, before the bulldozers come through. Since tonight we are covering outlying areas, please be sure to clear each area completely before moving on. We wouldn't want any stray ghouls left about. Are you listening to me Seras?"

Seras jumped slightly, but nodded. "What's wrong with you tonight Sears Victoria? It's not like you to be so quiet."

She thought hard about saying nothing, but it seemed Integra could read her mind, she may as well tell her. She would know what to do about the captain right?

"Sir," Seras started, "Do you know what would happen if I were to drink the blood of a werewolf?"

Integra seemed taken aback for a moment before hazarding a reply. "It is my understanding that the consumed werewolf would become one of your familiars, like the Hound of Baskerville your master is so fond of. Though I suppose it may depend upon whether they were in human or wolf form. I take it you have a stowaway?" Integra leveled her gaze upon the smaller woman.

"Yes sir." Sears blushed. "Do you think he's going to cause trouble?" She asked timidly.

"Honestly, I've no idea Seras." The older woman said gently. "I wish I could give you more answers, but these are secrets your master kept even from me. There are options for controlling yourself and the wolf if things get too far out of hand…." The last was said almost cynically. It was clear in Integra's expression, she had no desire to bind Seras as her master had been, however if it came to that she would not hesitate.

Seras had made her rounds, zagging through the outskirts. As she had suspected there were no signs of any life. Her team followed closely behind, scanning through the streets, and turning over rubble. Seras thought it a fool's errand. She could smell the heavy scent of decay, and death. There were no survivors to be had here. Still they made their way through the twisted streets. Debris and corpses their only company.

Pip and the captain were being extraordinarily quiet in her mind for the first time all day. They had been alternating between death glares and outright pissing contests for some time now. Something about that brought a hesitant smile to Seras's face. Perhaps it wouldn't be quit so bad to have another "person" in her head. If he could behave that is.

'You know I can hear your thoughts as vell Fraulein.' The werewolf piped up.

"Well it's not my bloody fault! You shouldn't be eavesdropping on my thoughts!" She huffed indignantly. "And besides, I was just glad to be able to concentrate. This is a difficult enough mission, cleaning up the mess YOUR side created." The venom in her voice was hard to contain. True, he had not been the head of Millennium, but his part in this bloody war was clear enough.

'You vould honestly believe I villingly fought for ze nazi party?' He asked incredulously. 'I was a mere experiment mein fraulein. A puppet for ze doctor und ze major's enjoyment. Zey planted a chip on me over half a century ago. I had no control, only a hope for the escape through death.' She could practically feel his rage in her whole body, but underneath she could also feel just a twinge of something else. Something entirely unexpected. She could feel his remorse, she could feel his utter despair, and she could feel his shame. It was overwhelming having the captain's emotions running rampant like this. 'I vas captured ven I was just a pup, and implanted with ze first chip.'

Pip was resoundingly quiet in her mind, for his own part. He seemed to be taking in as much information as the wolf was willing to give. Seras, however, was shocked. If he what he was saying was true, then he was just as much a victim of this war as everyone else, and deep in her subconscious Seras knew he had to be telling the truth. His emotions were flowing through her like waves, and nowhere in the mix could she feel deceit. She was stunned by the revelation.

"But if they controlled you, then was every vampire they implanted with the chip under control?" She didn't want to think of the crazy tattooed woman, but that was the foremost thought in her mind. The open wound that couldn't be healed. "Was the vampire that attacked Hellsing Manor under mind control?"

Hans seemed to think for a second before answering, 'Zorin Blitz vas a sadistic voman in life. I do not sink zat for von second she was under ze control of ze chips. I vas a natural born verewolf. Ve are not known for our obedience to zose not in our pack. Ze major vanted a guard dog, und to obtain von he needed a strong leash.' His thoughts of ze major seemed to bring dark burning rage to the forefront of Seras's mind. Pip chose that moment to pipe in.

"I do hate to interrupt such a necessary conversation, but it seems zat we ave company closing in." His shadow arm extended to point at the red eyes in the distance. "Mignonnette, do you think you can take zem out from ere?"

Seras gazed ahead. The ghouls seemed to be about 3000 meters away. She could easily see them without the aid of her scope. They were all gathered around a pile of rubble, pawing hungrily at the refuse. She held up her fist to tell her team to stop, and started to position herself for the shot. It looked like around 20 ghouls. Nothing that would be terribly hard to destroy, but the wolf in her head seemed uneasy. Something about this wasn't right. Looking down her scope, she centered her attention on the pile of rubble in the middle of the group. Why would they all be scrapping at that singular pile? Something definitely wasn't right. She took aim on the first walking corpse, and squeezed the trigger.

One by one the ghouls fell to the ground. Thankfully completely lifeless now. It took under a minute to dispatch them all, from long range. Carefully, the proceeded to walk down the path towards to bodies. As they walked the nearly 2 mile stretch, Seras couldn't shake the anxiety. Something was drawing those ghouls to that pile on the side of the road. Perhaps a body, perhaps an animal, but something drew them in like moths to a flame. She was only about 500 feet away, when she smelled it. Her eyes grew wide with shock as her body reacted. she would recognize that scent anywhere.

Freshly spilled virgin blood.
