Chapter 4: Into the Arena

A/N: And so, this will be THE chapter. The 100th Hunger Games has begun. If the Arena seems a little boring at first, don't bother worrying. Hahaha! You'll soon find out the twist of the arena, since it is a Quarter Quell. Not going to spoil it, it is better that way. I will describe it though, from Rain's point of view. This chapter might swap views between tributes, and it will be indicated. Fair warning. Special thanks to ForsakenKnight44 for reviewing. Enough of my rambling. Into the tribute tubes, (or sitting in the Capitol crowd) and away we go!

I made a mad dash for the Cornucopia, being the second there. The first one there, the bulky 17 year-old male tribute from 10 beat me to it. He just took a backpack and a large knife, and made a beeline for the woods. I grabbed a retractable lance and a backpack nearby, and ran out of the Cornucopia. I got in a scuffle with District 4's female tribute, Aileen, but managed to throw her off me. District 7's male tribute, Jose, lunged at me with his axe. I quickly parried with the lance's shaft and drew blood with the tip, but not killing him. I watched from afar as District 2's male tribute, Cyrus, kill the girl from 8 by stabbing her in the stomach. The boy from 5, Isaiah, attacked me with his sword, and narrowly missed my head in a surprise attack. I quickly impaled him with lance in his stomach, and he coughed blood, staining the ground. He fell with a thud, lifeless eyes staring directly into mine. I decided that I had enough. I dashed for the woods, leaving the horrible screams behind, as many were skewered and slashed.

Location: Cornucopia, after the Bloodbath.

Velvet Ritchson (D1 Female)'s P.O.V.

I rendezvoused with my fellow Career tributes at the entrance of the Cornucopia. I witnessed the boy from 12 participate in the bloodbath, it was rather surprising to see such a tribute from high-numbered district such as 12 to perform so well. I was snapped out of my thoughts by my district partner, Vulcan.

"Velvet, stop daydreaming. We're going to gather the remaining supplies from the Cornucopia and set up camp here.", Vulcan ordered.

I dumbly nodded. I recounted the corpses now surrounding the Cornucopia. The boy from 3, Jeremy. He was killed by Sophia, my District 2 ally. His partner got away though. Both from 5. I saw the boy from 5 getting impaled by boy from 12, likely in self-defense. The girl from 6, a 13-year old called Cassie. I witnessed Adrian kill her as she was trying to run for the woods. The girls from 7 and 8, by their jacket colors. The boy from 7 got away, but the boy from 12 wounded him, so he just might die anyway. Both from 9, I killed them when they ganged up on me, and ended up with knives in their hearts. The girl from 10 was lying dead with a slash on her abdomen, courtesy of Vulcan's zwëihander (double-handed sword). The 12-year old boy from 11 was dead too, killed by Adrian's brute strength.

CORNUCOPIA BLOODBATH DEATH TOLL: 10, ALIVE: 12

Adrian Bismarck (D4 Male, 18)'s P.O.V.

Both from 12 got away, much to my and allies' chagrin. We were finally settled for the night. I took first watch, and nothing really happened. Most of the good supplies were taken by the survivors, other than us. Those included the girl from 3, Ellie, the drugged out boy from 6, Vincent, the wounded boy from 7, Jose, the tall boy from 8, Roy, the muscled boy from 10, Robert, the sneaky girl from 11, Linde. Both from 12 got away, and they were the only district besides us that didn't lose a tribute yet, which really pissed me off. They were from 12, how could they…?

Vulcan started talking, and we started to take the supplies after the Capitol hovercraft took away the bodies and the cannons started to fire off. 10 cannons started to fire, signaling the deaths from the Cornucopia bloodbath deaths. I was responsible for 3 of those deaths: The girls from 5 and 6, and the boy from 11. I woke up Aileen Divola, the female Career from 4, and told her that she was to guard the camp now. I went to sleep in my sleeping bag, comfortable that night. However, before I slept, I noticed in the sky a picture of some sort of building.

That night, around 3:00-4:00 AM

I was awakened by Vulcan, the District 1 Career, shaking my shoulder.

"What…?", I moaned out groggily.

"Someone's raided our supplies, half our food's gone, and some weapons were stolen too. Also, the arena changed to a ruined city!", Vulcan exclaimed in a-matter-of-fact tone.

"What?!. I shouted, lead the way!"

Vulcan led me to the supply pyramid, where some crates and all the outlying weapons were stolen.

"Do you have any idea who it was?", I asked.

"Yes, I saw the girls from 3 and 11 sneak to get them when I woke up. It appears one of them created a distraction, while the other snuck in to steal our supplies subtly, without any noise. Very smart, but not unprecedented." Vulcan praising the girls' strategy.

"Vulcan… go wake the rest up. We're going to go on a little tribute hunt. We won't rest until I hear 3 and 11's cannons fire.", I said with a slasher smile on my face.

That Afternoon, circa 2 PM

Jose Boyzlo (D7 Male, 16)'s P.O.V.

I got away from the bloodbath alive. I was wounded by the guy from 12, I think Rain was his name. That name would be etched into my mind forever, until I got my revenge. I forged an alliance with the boy from 6, whose name was Vincent Crox. We started to work together, and he soon built an elaborate trap, since he was a mechanic back home with his father. He told me how to escape and how to activate it if anyone got too close. I took a backpack on my way out, and it contained regeneration medicine, iodine (a chemical used to purify water), a dagger, some food, and a canteen of water.

"Vincent, I hear footsteps, back to the basement!", I whispered. Vincent and I found a basement in the now apparent ruined city arena, where we created a barrier to make sure no one found us. We hid in our basement, and waited.

It was the Careers, and their heavy footsteps quickly passed by, and I heard them grumbling to themselves. I heard the District 4 boy, I heard Adrian was his name, rant.

"Those girls from 3 and 11 are dead the moment we find them." said Adrian.

"I agree, they're going to-", said another voice, probably his district partner, Aileen. She was cut off by a loud explosion.

...BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

The Careers immediately reversed direction and sprinted back, by the looks of it. Vincent spoke up.

"That came from the direction of the Career camp. Someone probably blew it to oblivion. Don't know how whoever did it obtained the explosives, though.", theorized Vincent.

Sophia Kirhart (D2 Female, 16)'s P.O.V. (Play: The Proud Commander - Fire Emblem)

Location: Career Camp, near Cornucopia, around 5 PM

I dashed back along with my fellow Careers. Upon seeing our camp, all what was left of it was rubble. Vulcan and I walked towards the ashes, looking at the rubble. Nothing was left, literally nothing but dirt and rubble.

Cyrus and Adrian then started blaming each other, Cyrus stating that Adrian and his district partner should have stayed behind to stop the other tributes from blowing up the supply depot. Adrian countered back saying that they should've just waited for the girls to try and sneak in and then kill them. It wasn't until Vulcan finally stepped in and broke it up did they stop.

"Enough, enough! Look at the plates, the mines around them have been dug up! The girl from 3 and 11 were behind this for sure!", Vulcan intervened.

"But how did they get the mines to work again, is the question.", inquired Aileen, the girl from 4.

"One of them is from District 3. They probably know their way around electronics, and they probably rewired the mines like that boy did back in the 74th Hunger Games.", responded Cyrus, the one from 2.

"What will we do now, now that our camp is blown to pieces?", asked Velvet.

I was about to respond that we should head out again to find the girls from 3 and 11, only to hear a cannon go off. Vulcan fell forward, his eyes lifeless. There was an arrow sticking out of his back. Another arrow whizzed by, narrowly missing my head. Adrian looked up.

(Play: Dawn Warrior Theme - Mobius Final Fantasy)

"It's the girl from 12! Get her!", screamed Adrian. We charged up the building she was in, and found her in the penthouse of the abandoned building.

"We've got you now, 12! Ready to die?!", exclaimed Cyrus. The girl from 12, Iris, let out a maniacal grin and unzipped her jacket and threw it off. Strapped to her chest were a bunch of landmines, which were activated and were rigged to explode.

"S***! Run!", screamed Cyrus when he heard the loud beeping noise coming from Iris.

My whole world went black.

Rain Orion (D12 Male, 16)'s P.O.V. around 9:00 PM (Play: Time - Hans Zimmer)

I encamped in a hidden location, far from the rest of the competition. I hadn't really heard anything from the rest of the tributes, and had laid pretty low for the Games. I knew the time wouldn't last and that the Gamemakers would want to end it all in one big finale, but I tried to preserve my energy for the next day. I was slipping into my sleeping bag when I heard a cannon, followed by a massive explosion.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM!

Then some more cannons in the distance. I decided to go and investigate, lance in hand, but not before looking at the faces that would appear in the sky just in a moment. I looked up at the sky, waiting for the faces that the cannons fired for. The emblem of the Capitol, and then the Capitol theme started playing and...

A/N: Haha! So how was that. I hoped you liked the explosive ending to the chapter. I'll state right now who's still alive and in the game.
