Panic. Pure unadulterated panic. Naruto was going to have a heart attack. He just knew it! Suyoko was demanding answers, but what could he say?
"Oh sorry, but seeing my brothers face for the first time in years scared the shit out of me. I hope you can forgive me!"
Ya, no. Suyoko would have forced him to Kyuubi so quick. So to save himself the trauma he ran. Suyoko was tugging at him to let her go. No,no,no! Naruto refused but slowed slightly.
At first.
"Hey! Wait up, Suyoko!" Naruto was nearly in tears. This wasn't happening, this can't be happening. He put to much effort in, just to fail now. He turned around just enough to see a small crowd of people trailing him.
Kyuubi looked right at him. Naruto's head went into a tailspin. There was no escape! He let the stroller and Suyoko go. He turned again and ran. Not a brisk jog. No he was in a full on sprint. He wove through the crowd. People were angry at being pushed aside but they could suck it for all he cared. He refused to be tied down. Never again would he let his so called family try and take every thing he cared about away. While he knew that made no sense because he left his kids with Suyoko he didn't care. She was their mother and more than capable to watch the children.
"Hey wait" a hand grabbed his wrist. Naruto let his mind blank.
Never again!Naruto's fist clenched. He spun on his heels. Cocking his arm back he prepared to swing.
Red, teary eyes looked back at him. Naruto's mouth felt like a dessert. His tounge stuck to the roof of his mouth and he stared deep into the eyes of his brother. The man only a year older looked like life had beaten down on him. At 22 the man looked 30. His face was drawn into a scowl and his brows seemed permanently frowed. It was as amazing as it was horrific.
Kyuubi looked at him. Naruto felt the sweat roll down his neck as the orangeish brown eyes look him up and down.
Slowly the shimmer that Naruto saw in his eyes died off and the hand once holding him so desperately let go. Naruto knew he didn't look the same. He had scars and his eyes had bags. He left in his contacts. His hair while blonde was several shades darker than it ever was as Naruto.
"It's not him" Kyuubi whispered. The small group behind him seemed to deflate and a few sighs were heard.
"Shinji!" Suyoko shouted. The infants were in the stroller and giggling about something.Naruto, now publicly known as Shinji snapped his head towards her. Kyuubi looked affronted.
"Suyoko" Shinji muttered. She let her eyes dart between him and Kyuubi before nodding. Only one detective noticed but he stayed silent, wanting to see where this was going.
"Can I help you?" Shinji's voice was a mere croak. Not that he was expecting less. Kyuubi broke out of his trance. His eyes held unshead tears.
"No. You just look like someone I know that went missing years ago." Suyoko narrowed her eyes.
"Come on Shinji" She walked forward and grabbed onto his arm. Kyuubi glared as she went past. Shinji didn't understand. She and Kyuubi had always gotten along. They started to walk away.
"You just let him go?" she tensed.
"No." was her near silent response. Kyuubi grew livid.
"Then why?! Didn't you love Naruto? Didn't you love my brother?!" She turned her head.
"You can't love what's gone Kyuubi. You can miss them. You can love who they were but you can't love them. Day to day people change Kyuubi. He's not going to be the same person I loved. You do best to remember that"
That was the wrong answer. The red haired man lost it. The whole street stored at them by now but he didn't care.
"Oh really? Is that why you replace him. I bet this poor guy didn't even cross you mind in till Naruto started dating Sasuke!" At this point Kyuubi didn't seem to be trying to make an argument. He seemed to be venting his anger if anything. Suyoko didn't care and spun to face the angry collage student.
She took one step forward.
"Now listen here Kyuubi, and listen well. Shinji is no replacement for Naruto! He is his own person with his own battles. He is nothing like Naruto and while I wish Naruto was here, god do I wish it was true he's not. I can't do anything about it and nether can you!
So the next time you accuse me of forgetting about him you should remember who held him while he cried and fixed the broken soul that was your brother! While Naruto fell apart from the seems Kyuubi the 'oh so perfect brother' was nowhere to be seen. To busy studying for Mommy and Daddy. It was Sasuke and I who fixed Naruto and you and your family that made it worse. So don't you ever and I mean ever accuse me of not caring!" Suyoko's chest fell
and rose. Her face was flushed with anger and Naruto was all but reminded of her fiery spirit. Turning to face Naruto she walked right past him.
And onto a empty street crossing.
She didn't see the truck until Shinji was behind her and pushing her forwards. She slammed into the concrete right as the truck slammed into him. He knew what hit him.
He was sure he was going to die.
Normal P.o.v
It wasn't supposed to be this way. Suyoko knew that. Naruto Shinji, Shinji Naruto. They weren't the same person. They were never the same person. Shinji's eyes told Suyoko who he was. He wasn't Naruto. Not anymore. He changed. As much as it hurt to say it was true. Naruto had a light in his eyes that Shinji didn't and vice versa. They weren't the same. So when Shinji tried getting away from Kyuubi, she knew it was then that she needed to act. She was protecting Shinji. Her best friend and the father to two beautiful children.
She couldn't control herself when Kyuubi started accusing her of not caring. How dare he! Where the hell did he get off on telling her what she feels!
He had no damn room to judge when he was nearly as absent as Karin! When you factor in that Karen was the oldest and hadn't lived at home for 3 years before hand that was saying something. Suyoko forced her breath to calm somewhat. She didn't want to look at the pathetic man that played the devistated brother oh so well. A few caring moments when Naruto's whole world was hell was nothing. Sasuke deserves more respect from her and he was a sleazeball and a liar. She turned. Her vision was flashing red and she walked to the empty street intent on leaving Kyuubi where he stood. She knew Shinji would follow. She knew that it was time to leave.
What she didn't know, was what had slammed her forward before creating a sickening crunch. But if she was right everything would soon change.
Kyuubi P.O.V
She was right.
She was right.
She was RIGHT!
I want to laugh, scream, and rage. I wanted to blame her and Kushina and Minato. I want to pretend that none of his pain was my falt. I wish that I was the super hero in all of this. That I was the one to bring Naruto out of the dark. That it was me that saved him.
But that would be lying. Mother always said don't lie. But where was that advise now? Where is she when I need to understand what to do?!
Where was anyone DAMNIT?!
And there it was. My ego blaming anyone but myself. Maybe that why I let her walk away. She wasn't wrong. I did ignore him for my parents. And for what. Mom liked me a little and Minato was never impressed. Karin was the 'good' child. Who did I need to impress? I can't answer that now. I don't know the answer. I hate being Proven wrong. On tests, sports, or life. I must get that from him. I want to force her back. Demand answers that aren't in my rights to know. Scream and stomp my foot like a child and tear into her with questions.
But I won't. I won't stop her and her family. And when the Naruto copycat pushed her out of the way I won't get involved. The man's life isn't important to me. Some sick and twisted part of me enjoyed it. Seeing the fake get hurt.
No one is Naruto. No one is allowed to be
Today I stop pretending. There is a reason I was nicknamed what I was.
The Nine Tailed Demon was back and demanded blood.
