Chapter 4: Beetle Gone
Jewel was at the counter of the museum wiping it down waiting for some potential visitors. She looks up and sees the skunk brothers approaching the doors. "Oh no." She presses a silent alarm under the counter which locks the doors.
Rough grabs the door trying to open it. "Hmph. Little bug has a security system. Care to do the honors?"
Tumble stretches a bit. "You don't need to ask me twice." He raises his arms and then slams them against the door breaking them down.
Jewel screams and hides behind the counter. "Don't hurt me! I don't have what you're looking for."
Tumble then picks her up from behind the counter.
Rough snickers a bit. "Relax. We know what we want, and you have it right here."
Jewel gulps upon realizing what was going to happen.
Meanwhile in the city, Tangle and Whisper were just a few blocks short of their destination.
"Almost there. Hopefully we're not too late."
Whisper then stops her as she sees someone ahead of them. "One of them."
Tangle looks ahead seeing Tumble charging at them quickly.
"We can take him."
Tumble pulls out a large axe sword from his hood.
Whisper goes wide-eyed at the sight. "Maybe not."
Tangle narrows her eyes. "I've faced worse."
Tumble leaps up and swings his sword down at them.
The lemur dodges and then blows him off course with a burst of air.
Whisper swings at Tumble with her blue cube hammer clashing with his blade.
Tumble struggles to overpower her. "For a scrawny little wolf, you can really hold your own."
"Not my first time."
Tangle whips her tail at the skunk grabbing the hilt of his sword. "I'll take that."
The skunk growls. "Like heck you will!" He grabs her tail and pulls her off her feet.
Whisper takes advantage of his distraction and slams him in the gut with the hammer.
Tangle propels herself up and then slams the skunk down with a well-aimed air blast.
Tumble goes down hard leaving a crater in the asphalt beneath him. "Ow."
Whipser aims her wispon at Tumble's head with cyan laser ready to fire. "Don't move."
Tangle stands on his wrist. "Any last words before we take you in?"
The skunk smirks a bit. "Warp me out, Doc."
The static of a walkie talkie could be heard follows by a familiar voice. "Understood."
A warp opens below Tumble pulling him away from the girls.
Whisper looks ahead seeing the mineral museum doors busted down. "Jewel!" She runs over to the museum.
Tangle follows her into the museum seeing their friend and Rough.
Rough looks at them with Jewel in his arm as a lance to her neck. "Don't come any closer, ladies. We don't want the big to get squished."
Jewel was frozen with fear. "Let me go. Please."
"Shut up!"
Whisper aims her weapon ready to fire.
Tangle grabs her wispon lowering it. "Don't. You might hit Jewel."
Rough grabs his walkie and calls it in. "I got the package."
The voice was heard again. "Excellent. I'll bring you two in."
"Thanks, Doc." He sees the warp open and jumps in with Jewel in tow.
Tangle and Whisper run for the warp only for it to suddenly close.
"We failed."
Tangle looks down upset only to see something. "Huh?" She reaches down picking up what looked like a card. "What's this?"
Whipser looks at it. "Message card."
"Should we see what the message is?"
"Not here. Somewhere safer."
"I know just the place." The lemur takes Whisper's hand as she leads her out of the museum to their destination.
The figure in the black hood from before was looking down at them as they ran off. "That's right, girls. Just keep following through and we'll play along with you." They walks off awaiting their next move.
